Chapter 99: The Near-death Situation

Translator: LiamHW

Xia Mingyu didn’t have time to respond to the blood contract from Zhao Yun, until the contact was terminated. It was just then he realized that the the spaces where they located weren’t match, so even if it was blood contract, it was not always working. However, Yun should have sensed him just now, and perhaps he wouldn’t worry about his accident.

He was relieved, and then he ate the grilled fish quickly. However, Huskeley also had planned for him other training missions besides catching fishes, such as catching the tail of the soul-eating worm. Not until that did Xia Mingyu realize that catching fish was so much easier. Because if the fish were swimming around, which would cause the flow of water. He sensed it, but as for the soul-eating worm…

First, he was more flexible than fish; Second, he was not a so-called living substance, consequently… he definitely would not stir the air into a form of flow. That was difficult for Xia Mingyu to make that real since he just learnt how to use sense the flow of wind.

After chasing after the soul-eating worm for a long while, Xia Mingyu was breathless and out of his energy, it was more exhausting training than catching fishes. However, the next training mission shocked him and he would rather chase the blackish blue worm for a whole day…

“What? You want me to take your attack at least three moves?” asked Xia Mingyu, with his amber cat pupils widely opened, and looked at Huskeley in disbelief, a stream of sweat rolled down from his forehead. In fact, it was reasonable to require him to catch fish and chase the blue worm, but how was he able to fight with Huskeley… Could he really defend himself from the attack of Huskeley within three moves? Probably he couldn’t even take one move of that.

“You are right, master.” replied Huskeley in a sincere tone, he just conveyed the intention of the evil soul, while Xia Mingyu pouted his lips and was a bit wronged, why didn’t the other self tell him himself? At least inform him to prepare in advance.

Xia Mingyu shook his head and was not going to think about that, he just glanced at Huskeley, and then got sweaty. Oh please, they were not at the same level at all. How could he possibly make it real?

“Huskeley, how powerful would your attack… be?” Xia Mingyu asked hesitantly, after all, he had actually seen Huskeley fight against Delmanshi, he could somehow estimate the power of the werewolf standing in front of him.

Huskeley continued to convey the intention of the evil soul, saying, “Master told me before, I will use the strength at the same level of the ordinary people to fight against you. And in the following training, I will slowly strengthen the level of it. Do you want to try now?”

“Let’s try it…” answered Xia Mingyu, that was something he could not regret. Because after an hour, he was lying on the ground dizzily, with his whole body sore and painful. What the hell? What exactly was Huskeley’s definition of ordinary people? He could just put him down in one move, but why did he use that higher level of strength? He was only to be attacked within one hour of the training.

And at the moment, Xia Mingyu thought of Cao Pi, the one who treated Wu Jiuge in a rather rude way… Oh, compared with that jerk, Huskeley would be more gentle. After all, it is hand-to-hand fight, not a baton fight. QAQ.

“Master, are you able to stand up?” asked Huskeley, he squatted down to look at Xia Mingyu as the blue worm floated by, trying to narrow down his own sense of existence. However, Xia Mingyu didn’t even have the strength to raise his hand to surrender, gasping for mercy, saying, “Get off my back, can I take a rest for a while?”

“Mmm, okay.” agreed Huskeley, which was out of expectation of Xia Mingyu, because he knew that the werewolf had been strictly following the plan made by the evil soul before, and this time he actually agreed to let him rest for a while. What happened?

Xia Mingyu looked at Huskeley with his head tilted, Huskeley replied, “There’s news from the Demon Palace. I need to go back for a while. Master, you just take a rest here. I’ll be back soon.”

He said so, and got the forbearance from Xia Mingyu then left the place. The boy laid on his back by the pool, with a bit depression on his face. Annoyance of being so impotent messed up his mind, he thought he was so weak now, and was eager to be stronger in the very near future.

“Hoo.” A stunning roar of the beast suddenly came from the woods, which was beyond Xia Mingyu’s expectation. His mind got shun all of a sudden, and suddenly remembered that the demons didn’t dare come over because they were afraid of Huskeley, but now Huskeley was gone, that was a dangerous signal for him.

As the boy was thinking about the fact, a saber-toothed tiger came out of the woods showing up directly in front of Xia Mingyu, with dreaded long tusks. The tiger greedily gazed at the exhausted boy, showing its desperate appetite to eat him. What the heck? Wasn’t there existing any other weaker demons instead of the fearsome and giant tiger? What a stroke, but please, Huskeley had just left. How long had this greedy monster been snooping around?

Xia Mingyu got no time to care for his sore muscles, turned over and quickly pulled out his Moon Tang Sword. However, the saber-toothed tiger seemed to know the advantage of attacking first, it pounced on Xia Mingyu fiercely with its blood basin, while Xia Mingyu pushed the sword across to stop its attack, the tusks of the saber-toothed tiger scratched across the sword, making a harsh sound.

With the first attack failed, the saber-toothed tiger turned his body and wandered around, observing the weakness of the boy. Xia Mingyu’s got his hands numb under the huge impact force, but he could not relax, gasping for a while and then wiping the sweat off his face. Fortunately, this monster’s attack seemed like the attack from a normal animal, at least it had no such magic power to use, otherwise it would be a real disaster.

The blue soul-eating worm couldn’t even lend a hand to Xia Mingyu, and he floated to a far away place after noticing the appearance of the saber-toothed tiger, but kept shouting the name of Xia Mingyu, it was like the action of boosting the morale of the boy. Xia Mingyu shook his head, and then held the Moon Tang Sword and rushed to the saber-toothed tiger. To his surprise, the saber-toothed tiger turned around, and then used its steel-like tail to hit Xia Mingyu, throwing him out to crash on the tree.

Auch, it was such a pain… Xia Mingyu took a cold breath because of the pain of abdomen. He got colic pain with his hands numb, and he couldn’t even hold good his Moon Tang Sword for several times. But he couldn’t let go of his hand, it was the only weapon he could use to fight the saber-toothed tiger. He couldn’t die, he wanted to live.

The saber-toothed tiger flung over again, it used its giant tiger claws to pat the head of Xia Mingyu, but the boy gritted his teeth and moved his head to the left. The tiger failed again to hit the vital part of Xia Mingyu, but hit the right shoulder of him, it was already bleeding as the giant claws scratched.

The blood of the heaven soul stimulated the saber-toothed tiger’s eyes to show fierce light, and the roar of many other demons came from the forest, the dangers around were approaching.

If Huskley was here, or if the evil soul was awake… no, he couldn’t always rely on others, if he did so, how could he become stronger?

Xia Mingyu was numb in pain, he got no time to deal with his bleeding wounds, but used his Moon Tang Sword to stab directly to the tiger. However, the tiger in front of him was more flexible, which was out of his expectation. He failed to kill the tiger but almost got killed by its claw instead. Fortunately, he responded in time and blocked the tiger’s claws with the Moon Tang Sword.

Xia Mingyu became more anxious because if he couldn’t free his hands, he would die under the continuous attack of the monster. It could tell that the tiger was better than him in physical strength, let alone the other unknown demons in the forest which would probably be attracted too. If he had another way…

At such a dangerous moment, Xia Mingyu recalled something which the evil soul had told him before, he remembered that the evil soul had mentioned the matter of spiritual power attack. Right, he knew already how to condense spiritual power, so how could he do to set off a spiritual power attack?

“Hoo!” As the saber-toothed tiger pounced again, Xia Mingyu was pushed back to the ground, leaving only the Moon Tang Sword to block the tiger’s claws. Otherwise, if the paws came down, the boy would have die. And the tusks of the saber-toothed tiger are not a few centimeters away from Xia Mingyu eye, life and death were all controlled by a tiny movement.

If he killed the tiger, everything would be fine, yeah, he had to kill the monster. Xia Mingyu thought about nothing but killing the saber-toothed tiger in front of him. The spiritual power was condensed, but he couldn’t find a release point, and he almost got his hand which held the Moon Tang Sword out of strength. Suddenly, his amber cat pupils were filled with murderous anger, and the spiritual power was completely poured into the Moon Tang Sword.

The blade turned sharply and gave out a bright light. As the blood spewed out, the saber-toothed tiger died with its huge body fell to one side, making a plop sound. Xia Mingyu still did not react, with his eyes glazed towards the blood stained Moon Tang Sword, his eyesight was full of bloody red.

After lying on the ground for a while, Xia Mingyu sat up, gasping for breath. He almost cried out as he did survive from this perilous crisis, he was really scared … In the past, it was either Zhao Yun or Wu Jiuge who was at his side when he met the same situation, he had never experienced this by his own ALONE.

This feeling of almost desperation drove him crazy, but when he saw the body of the saber-toothed tiger, Xia Mingyu shook his head. If he hadn’t killed the saber-toothed tiger, it would be him who died at the end, he got no choice but killing.

“Xia Mingyu.” shouted the blue worm, he flew back and surrounded Xia Mingyu, it seemed that he was cheering the victory of the battle. Seeing that, Xia Mingyu pursed his lips and muttered to himself, “It would be better if you were Chen Yutian, at least there was someone with me…”

“??”

“Alas, forget it.”

Xia Mingyu sighed while he noticed that the blue worm seemed not to get the point of what he said, and then went to the pool to wash the blood of his body. He just cut through the saber-toothed tiger’s trachea, and the blood consequently spewed on his face, it would be such a disgusting smell if he couldn’t wash it clean.

The Moon Tang Sword was quite easy to clean up, it just required to be wiped by the clothes,  what was really hard to wash was the blood on his body. Xia Mingyu took off all the clothes, which were rather dirty since the messed fight with the tiger, and then put them aside and jumped into the water.

He didn’t swim to the center of the pool, only bathe in the shallow area. Looking down at his blood-stained self, he couldn’t help but remember the previous dream, in which the people who bullied him seemed to be bloodied, painful and twisted looks, all turned into fierce ghosts, and then burned to ashes by a fire.

What was the dream about? And when was it happen?  It wasn’t his dream…

Xia Mingyu tried to wash his face to clear the thoughts in his mind. Wait, if this indistinct dream wasn’t belonged to him, that would mean that it belonged to the other self. In this consideration, those who bullied him before were all actually died, and they were all KILLED by the evil soul.

As Xia Mingyu was thinking about the dream, he suddenly felt something gripping his ankles and next second, he was pulled into the water again without warning. In his blurred sight, he could see the octopus-like creature the same from the last time. How unlucky for him now. Since his clothes was set ashore, he had his sword on the shore too. That was such a careless action of him.

Xia Mingyu reached out to grab the tentacle that was wrapped around his ankle, trying to untie it. However, there came out more tentacles from the bottom of the water, the tentacles not only wrapped his hands and feet, but also entwined with his waist and neck. Xia Mingyu now was somehow like being trapped and glued on a cobweb, which made him unable to move, and was dragged into the bottom of the water, making him suffocate.

He got no extra strength to resist because he had lost his most of his strength in fighting with the saber-toothed tiger just then. He was rather sore and numb in his limbs now, he couldn’t even escape, let alone kill the demon down in the water. He was doomed to die this time. Either he was eaten by the octopus or he got suffocated and drawn in the water. Oh, the third possibility was… strangled to death by the octopus.
