Mystery: Chaos Path
#75 - Lucifer's Performance (First Order)
Rear Admiral Zylingus of the Hurricane was beginning to suspect that he was experiencing a streak of bad luck.
Originally, he had accepted a commission that only required him to assassinate Duke Negan in exchange for the "Blasphemy Card," something every extraordinary being dreamed of. It was a fantastic opportunity.
However, Rear Admiral Zylingus of the Hurricane had barely arrived in Backlund when someone located him. He intended to kill a chicken to scare the monkeys, eliminating two extraordinary beings to boost morale, but the opponents seemed to be Travelers, fleeing without looking back, taking their companions with them.
Rear Admiral Zylingus of the Hurricane could only let those two rats go, preparing to complete his main objective in Backlund. Yet, he had just changed his appearance and infiltrated a ball attended by Duke Negan, and before he could even act, he realized he seemed to be ambushed, forcing him to abandon the assassination and flee.
This infuriated Rear Admiral Zylingus of the Hurricane, as the failed assassination meant his trip was in vain.
Fortunately, with the "Crawling Hunger" at my disposal, escape is not a problem... Rear Admiral Zylingus thought, following the pre-planned escape route to the vicinity of the artificial lake, ready to take the next step in his escape, when he suddenly heard a voice.
"Although I generally don't act with small players like you, I have a troublesome student, and you happened to provoke him!"
The elegant male voice contained a smile, yet seemed tinged with helplessness.
At that moment, Rear Admiral Zylingus of the Hurricane felt his hair stand on end, as he realized that everything around him seemed to come alive. Stones, vegetation, even the water he was most familiar with, all turned into deadly weapons. However, these things didn't seem to want to kill him outright, but merely trap him, rendering him immobile.
The next second, Rear Admiral Zylingus of the Hurricane saw a figure emerge from the air. It was a man in his early thirties, with handsome features and a refined demeanor, resembling a learned professor.
But Rear Admiral Zylingus knew this was all an illusion. The other party must be a demigod of the Aberrant pathway. As a sea pirate active on the seas, Rear Admiral Zylingus naturally had some understanding of the Rose School of Thought, and thus knew some intelligence about the Aberrant pathway.
"Your Excellency, I don't seem to have any grievances with you..." Rear Admiral Zylingus's mind raced, thinking of a strategy to save himself, while outwardly displaying a flattering smile.
"You and I indeed have no grudges," Lorrain said with a smile, not denying it, simply adding, "Actually, I originally couldn't be bothered with your affairs, but since you've made my student sad, I can only kill you to make him happy."
His expression was like a doting parent, helpless in the face of a crying child, only able to find ways to appease them.
Rear Admiral Zylingus: ...
Who the hell is your student?
Rear Admiral Zylingus couldn't think of when he had offended the other party's student.
"Although I'm actually a little angry that my student has made a messy friend, that guy is obviously using me to kill you..." Lorrain sighed, like a slightly melancholy parent sharing his worries about raising a child.
"Then Your Excellency shouldn't kill me even more, should you?" Rear Admiral Zylingus said quickly, as if hearing a glimmer of hope.
"You're right..." Lorrain nodded as if agreeing with him. However, before Rear Admiral Zylingus could show any joy, he continued:
"But if I don't kill you, my student will be angry, so I should still kill you and warn that bad kid."
Rear Admiral Zylingus: ...
"You're playing with me!" Rear Admiral Zylingus couldn't bother with pretense anymore, glaring at Lorrain, about to curse a string of obscenities, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he found that what he was saying was actually bleating.
"Shh, swearing isn't good manners. A qualified actor can't be foul-mouthed," Lorrain said, lightly pressing a finger to his lips, smiling as he looked at Rear Admiral Zylingus, then continued, "You have something on you that interests me, so I can give you a choice."
"You will inevitably die, but if you are willing to tell me what I'm interested in, I can spare your soul."
...
Hanged Man Alger was cursing inwardly.
After receiving the hint from Mr. Fool, he immediately notified the Church, but because the top leader of the Storm Church in the Backlund diocese, Divine Songster Ace Snake, was out for a walk at the time of the incident, Hanged Man Alger spent some time notifying him, thus missing the best time to arrest Rear Admiral Zylingus.
Watching Rear Admiral Zylingus disappear without a trace, Hanged Man Alger could only pray that His Excellency Divine Songster could catch the other party while cursing inwardly.
With this in mind, Hanged Man Alger chased to the vicinity of the artificial lake, suddenly stopping in his tracks.
Because he saw not far away, His Excellency Divine Songster Ace Snake was confronting another person. The other party was a man Hanged Man Alger had never seen before, and Rear Admiral Zylingus was standing not far from the other party. Due to the angle, Hanged Man Alger could only see Rear Admiral Zylingus's back.
Who is this? Zylingus's backer?
Hanged Man Alger was somewhat puzzled. He couldn't help but look at the Divine Songster, only to see that the usually irritable Archbishop, although his expression wasn't good, didn't seem to have any intention of attacking.
Divine Songster Ace Snake indeed didn't plan to attack, because not long ago he learned of the existence of Lucifer, and at the same time received an oracle from the Lord of Storms—"Ignore Him."
And the mysterious person in front of him, no matter from which angle, was that so-called Lucifer.
"What does Your Excellency want to do?" Ace Snake asked.
"Just handling a small matter," Lorrain said with a smile. Seeing that the Divine Songster had no intention of attacking, he knew that the Lord of Storms had probably done something.
It seems that the Goddess of the Night should have talked to the Old Storm Pigeon. I wonder if the Steam姬 has joined their chat group... Lorrain thought, snapping his fingers. The Rear Admiral Zylingus of the Hurricane, who was originally standing in front of him, directly turned into a little sheep.
Seeing this scene, Hanged Man Alger couldn't help but widen his eyes. He had seen all kinds of magical abilities, but turning a person into a sheep was too bizarre.
Moreover, this was a Sequence Six sea pirate, who was turned into a sheep without any resistance...
The expressions of the other Punishers team members who came with Hanged Man Alger weren't much better.
"He's yours," Lorrain said, looking at the Divine Songster with a smile, "Although he's not a good actor, he's at least qualified as a villain. I hope you can give him the ending a villain deserves."
