Freedom refers to the freedom of will, existence and development of human beings, which is the beautiful yearning of human society and the social value goal pursued by Lao Marxism. Equality refers to the equality of all citizens before the law, and its value orientation is to continuously achieve substantive equality. It requires respect for and protection of human rights and the right of everyone to equal participation and development in accordance with the law. Justice is social fairness and justice, which is premised on human liberation and the acquisition of people’s freedom and equal rights, and is the fundamental value concept of the state and society. The rule of law is the basic way to govern the country, and governing the country according to law is the basic requirement of socialist democracy. It safeguards and protects the fundamental interests of citizens through the construction of the legal system, and is the institutional guarantee for realizing freedom, equality, fairness and justice. “Patriotism, dedication, honesty and friendliness” is the basic moral norm of citizens, and the condensation of the basic concepts of the core socialist values from the level of personal behavior. It covers all areas of social moral life, is the basic moral code that citizens must abide by, and is also the basic value standard for evaluating citizens’ moral behavior choices. Patriotism is based on the deep feelings of an individual’s dependence on his motherland, and it is also a code of conduct that regulates the relationship between the individual and the motherland. It is closely integrated with socialism and requires people to take the rejuvenation of China as their own responsibility, promote national unity, safeguard the unity of the motherland, and consciously serve the motherland. Dedication is the value evaluation of citizens’ professional code of conduct, requiring citizens to be loyal to their duties, self-denying, serving the people, and serving the society, which fully embodies the socialist professional spirit. Honesty is honesty and trustworthiness, which is a moral tradition handed down by human society for thousands of years, and it is also the key content of socialist moral construction, which emphasizes honest labor, keeping promises, and treating people sincerely.
