“What else do you want to know?” The Fire God smiled superciliously. She didn’t really think that Lu Yun could let her go alive. Enlightening the young man was a pointless exercise. It was just to satisfy his insignificant curiosity.

Was any of this knowledge important?

Everyone of the three destroyed divine temples and the Divine Temple of Nothing knew it. As for the truth of this realm… who the hell knew?

Living beings peered into time the way ants observed the sky. If the patch that the ants saw was blue, then they thought the sky was blue. In the same vein, when living beings noted that the sky was nothing, they thought that the truth of the world was born out of nothing.

Was it important?

No, staying alive was the most important.

Lu Yun sank into quiet contemplation. So the origin of everything… was God and Mo Yi. Where did God come from? How about Mo Yi?

None of this is important…

All that spacetime travelers needed to do was to eliminate the traitors in the Divine Temple of Nothing. Perhaps this was just the latest iteration of truth he was seeing, and no one knew what the hell would happen next.

“What’s outside the nothing?” Lu Yun asked out of curiosity.

Being a powerhouse beyond nihil, the Fire God should be able to see outside of it. When ants observed the sky, some of the stronger ones could see further.

The Fire God thought for a bit, then reached out with a slender hand and drew a circle in the air. She separated it with an intangible line, then dotted each side of the circle.

“A yin and yang diagram… a diagram of the universe?” Lu Yun arched an eyebrow.

“Yes,” the Fire God nodded. “God drew this diagram when he taught us and said that this was what the world was.”

One side was nothing and the other was existence. There was a dot of existence in the nothing and a pinprick of nothing in existence.

Lu Yun furrowed his brows. He’d received a similar hint when he journeyed through the fourth realm. The world was presented as a massive yin and yang diagram, but back then, he’d thought that it was the delineation between the known and unknown lands.

As later affairs bore out, it was just the medium that which bore the weight of the Major Cycle Worlds and the Land of Reincarnation.

Here he was, hearing a similar explanation again.

“You know,” the Fire God murmured as a distant look appeared in her eyes. “I used to think that I knew the truth of this world, the reality of this part of existence…

“But I hopelessly discovered in the end that we just live in some people’s lies. I know whatever they want us to know, and I will never know what they don’t want us to know.

“I don't even know if the nothing we reside in is…” She reached out and tapped the side of nothing in the diagram, then tapped the dot of nothing in the side of existence. “I don’t know where we are.”

Lu Yun couldn’t repress a shudder. Which part of the diagram was the boundless nothing that he had yet to set foot in? If they were the tiny speck of nothing that was located among existence, that would be terrifying.

“We betrayed God because we felt that the second possibility is more likely,” the Fire God continued. “That our nothing is the insignificant dot of nothing in an unbounded existence. We also think that God, and his master Mo Yi, comes from the unending portion of reality.”

Existence was reality.

“It’s very possible,” Lu Yun inclined his head.

“There are countless more terrifying powerhouses beyond the nothing. They can destroy our nothing with a casual backhand, just like I can squeeze the Three Thousand out of existence if I wished to.”

The Three Thousand was the only patch of real existence within the nothing, apart from the ones derived from the three hundred and sixty-five demon gods and Ancestor’s body.

Lu Yun swung his head around, feeling his brain hum from the new knowledge.

“Since you wish to explore the truth of this world, perhaps you’ll see it when you have the right to enter that part of real existence. But perhaps you’ll just see more lies.” The Fire God closed her eyes, her face devoid of color.

Dongfang Hao had gone mad in the outside world and furiously hacked at the Forge of Heaven and Earth with the Sword of Chaos. Ugly cracks spiderwebbed through the forge’s surface. The Fire God had split out a portion of herself to fight Dongfang Hao as she conversed with Lu Yun.

The divine and the Sword of Chaos in his hand were especially prepared for the Fire God, so although she let loose with everything she had, she was hard pressed to withstand her opponent.

Even the dao fires that’d been refining Lu Yun were beginning to recede.

She’d closed her eyes to await death. If they were in the outside world, she would easily swat the Three Thousand out of existence. However, the four spacetime travelers were safeguarding the four corners of the world and utilizing the power of existence to seal away her strength.

She was divested of more than ninety-nine percent of her strength.

“Stop.” Lu Yun suddenly stood up and called out, “I promised her to let her go.”

Dongfang Hao frowned, then halted with a nod. “Since you say to let her go, then she may go.”

The Fire God blinked.

“Aren’t you afraid that I’ll refine you at our next meeting?” she asked subconsciously, unable to believe that this was happening to her.

“I am, but I don’t go back on my word,” Lu Yun smiled. “And what you shared may not be real either. Don’t forget what you just said,” he paused, then enunciated clearly, “All of us live among lies.”

The Fire God’s brows snapped together as she nodded. The Forge of Heaven and Earth vanished with a tremble.

“You let her go just because she said that to you?” Dongfang Hao grumbled with irritation. “I could’ve said that to you too.”

“Intelligence from the enemy is sometimes more trustworthy,” Lu Yun chuckled.

“Bah.” Dangfang Hao sheathed his sword and it melded into the world. The Sword of Chaos was the weapon of the Divine Temple of Chaos, but it also contained the power of the Hongmeng and worlds. Thus, it combined the power of the worlds, chaos, and Hongmeng. It was far more powerful than before, which was why the Fire God from beyond the nothing was no match for it.

“I employed formula dao just now and determined that the Fire God is an entry point to dismantling the divine temple. A living Fire God is more useful than a dead one.”

“Well said!” Qing Buyi darted out with a grin. “C’mere, let me tell you our true plans and goals.”

“Not interested.” Lu Yun curled his lip and walked over to Qing Yu and the little fox, leaving with his beloveds. “You guys can clean up your hot mess. Don’t think of using me as bait again.”
