“What’s the point of telling him that?” Chen Xiao shook his head. “Although his book can evolve into a profound existence, it’s still a long ways off from reaching the barrier of nothing. Telling him now will only throw his mental state into disarray and may lead him down the wrong path!

“Based on my understanding of Lu Yun, he’ll use formula dao after he learns of these things,” Chen Xiao frowned. “The barrier of nothing is the greatest taboo in this part of nothing. Formula dao isn’t strong enough to handle it yet. It will be annihilated if it touches the taboo and be completely terminated!

“Formula dao is our only hope of escaping from the nothing,” he concluded morosely.

Escape from the nothing. If they didn’t, all of them were fated to turn into nothing, just like the fourth realm of the original Land of Reincarnation. Nihil World Sovereigns cultivated and cultivated until one day they went poof! and turned into nothing.

That was the true nothing; the process was simply infinitely extended for them now. Meanwhile, nihil powerhouses basked in self-satisfaction, thinking that they were on the proper path and true Nihil World Sovereigns.

It was just reaching the same goal via different means. Even beings beyond nihil would eventually be assimilated by the nothing. The Fire God knew that death was inevitable as everything in the nothing, including existence and everything else, was destined to become nothing.

As for why they’d betrayed God…

God had told them that being assimilated by the nothing was their only end. But when their creator called another person “master”, more than just their faith collapsed. They discovered with greatest shock that Mo Yi was very likely a being from the real existence that could be found outside the nothing.

And so was God!

In their understanding, both Mo Yi and God possessed the ability to exceed nothing. They hid the method for their own purposes, and so the people betrayed God.

Their faith collapsing?

That was just an excuse. The Fire God had spoken a mix of truths and falsehood to Lu Yun. Her hints had been very clear—we all live in lies.

Whether it was the Divine Temple of Nothing, Ancestor, Hongjun, Pangu, and the others—their ultimate goal was to escape from the nothing. What set Ancestor, Hongjun, and the others apart was that they placed their bets on Mo Yi and the God. They looked to the duo to bring the rest of them out, whereas the Divine Temple of Nothing wished to destroy Mo Yi and God so they could extract the method from their souls.

The source of everything lay with the master and servant duo. Mo Yi was even more the crux of the issue. The Dao King followed her lead and was possibly also from the existence outside of nothing, but he kept such a low profile that everyone forgot about him.

He was so nondescript that he was easily overlooked.

Formula dao originated from the Dao King and the Tome of Life and Death was the first patch of existence to be born in the nothing. That it’d become the book was a result of the Dao King’s machinations, and formula dao came from the Tome of Life and Death.

Whether it was Mo Yi, the Dao King, or even God, all of them had lost their original selves. They’d forgotten their pasts and the seed of formula dao that the Dao King had left in the Tome of Life and Death was their only saving grace.

If Mo Yi, the Dao King, or even God wished to reclaim themselves, they needed to jump out of this part of nothing and return to their world. Formula dao became their only hope.

It’d determined in the past that the Three Thousand would be the first springboard and the primordial world of immortals the second springboard to jump out of nothing. The next steps after that required a stronger formula dao to conduct further calculations.

Prior to the Tome of Life and Death coming into being, the Dao King once tried using formula dao to find the complete answer. When its analysis reached the barrier of nothing, it was shattered to pieces and only a hint of its origin survived. That was incorporated into the book and later drawn forth by Lu Yun, becoming what it was now.

The Divine Temple of Nothing wouldn’t believe any answers they were given. They would only believe what they stripped from Mo Yi and God’s souls.

“Then go and tell him the consequences so he won’t be tempted to use the current version of formula dao to analyze the barrier of nothing.” Dongfang Hao’s solutions were as straightforward as his thoughts.

“A person’s will can never overcome curiosity,” Lu Feng shook his head. “If I was skilled in formula dao and possessed its origin, I would certainly use it to determine how to free myself from the nothing. I wouldn’t be able to wait for it to grow stronger.”

Dongfang Hao blinked, then closed his eyes to pose the same question to himself. Deep down, he found that he would do the same.

“In that case, let’s eliminate the demon god bloodlines,” the Dao King chuckled wryly. “At least that ensures the demon gods won’t be able to continuously revive from their bloodlines after they awaken.”

“That is how things should be.” Dongfang Hao put Lu Yun out of his mind.

Thus, the peak experts of nihil powerhouses within this part of nothing completely erased the bloodlines that the demon gods had left in the Three Thousand. Despite that, their bloodlines still existed—Ancestor had left quite a few of them in the World Heart. But if they dared resurrect through the bloodlines in the World Heart, their lives would not be theirs anymore.

……

Lu Yun didn’t know how long it’d been since he returned to the world of immortals. He sat cross-legged at the peak of Mount Xuanhuang in Dusk Province, looking into the setting sun in the west.

The world of immortals was a prosperous, thriving world that was the strongest of the four realms and the entire chief worlds.

But it was also beginning to decline.

Not because of immortal dao, but because the immortals of the world of immortals were migrating to the primordial world of immortals. It wouldn’t be long for the primordial world of immortals to become the new world of immortals, and for immortal dao to officially take root in the primordial world of immortals.

“What are you thinking about, my husband?” Qing Yu whispered as she rested her head on his shoulder.

“Can a person’s will never overcome curiosity?” He smiled ruefully when he looked at his beloved.

“Huh?” Qing Yu blinked.

“Although those stunning powerhouses blocked off the surroundings when they conversed, they forgot that some things are recorded by the laws of heaven and earth as soon as they are voiced,” Lu Yun sighed. “Maybe they were overconfident, or maybe they did this on purpose…

“I really can’t help myself. I do want to use formula dao to determine how to jump out of the nothing. But if I do so, formula dao will violate a certain restriction and be shattered to pieces.

“But I’m unwilling to give up because subconsciously, I feel that the Tome of Life and Death protects formula dao and can withstand the backlash from the restriction.”

Lu Yun was extremely conflicted.

Cultivators, whether immortals or of other daos, went against heaven’s will. They knew what they did wasn’t the course of nature, but they did it anyway. Lu Yun knew that attempting to calculate the way out of the nothing would result in the collapse of formula dao, but he still couldn’t control his curiosity.

His self control could have kept himself in check, but he seemed to be obsessed with the idea. He could barely restrain himself even with the aid of the Tome of Life and Death.

It can be hard to make great work when its stolen from bit.ly/3iBfjkV.

He regretted leaving some plans behind in the Three Thousand. Why had he used the Tome of Life and Death to peek into their conversations?

A cat has nine lives, but curiosity killed the cat.

“Why not strengthen yourself?” Qing Yu thought for a bit. “The best way to restrain curiosity is desire. Yours can be the desire to grow stronger! Once you are stronger, you will have the ability to effect changes.”
