The Divine Temple of Nothing sent the Light Deity to explain everything to Lu Yun when the young man arrived. The connotations behind their actions were clear—Lu Yun had no way out of this. He had to go to the tomb, come hell or high water. He had no chance to communicate with the outside world.

Another point was also clear to Lu Yun—once they excavated whatever was buried inside, he would die whether or not there was a method to end the great destruction.

The Divine Temple of Nothing would not permit him to live.

But neither was he afraid of them.

The ancient tomb was right there and he was incredibly curious, even filled with yearning. If he didn’t go, the divine temple would move against him right now.

“You’re right,” Lu Yun nodded. “It’s always better to have hope. Let’s go now and see what the tomb from reality is like.”

“Really??” The Light Deity looked at him with agitation.

Lu Yun frowned slightly. He could sense the other’s emotions—they looked like excitement, but they were actually as calm as still water. There was even a hint of killing intent within them.

The young man nodded instead of tearing down the facade, operating formula dao at the same time to analyze the tomb.

“Oh?” Lu Yun started. He found something particularly interesting. “The barrier of nothing… the ancient tomb’s pierced through the barrier and is embedded within it?”

His eyes lit up. Formula dao had always skirted around the barrier of nothing as it was the source of the great destruction, the annihilator of all that would return everything to nothing. Formula dao was no exception as it would be instantly rendered to nonexistence if it touched the barrier.

But the ancient tomb had pierced through it!

While Lu Yun would continue to avoid the barrier, he could utilize the opening to deduce reality on the other side!

However, he could only determine that the barrier had been pierced though. The other side remained out of reach for the moment as formula dao wasn’t strong enough and the tomb was too overwhelming. He needed to enhance formula dao before entering the tomb. That way, he could analyze the other side of reality when he reached its end.

As for passing through the opening and entering reality…

The thought didn’t cross Lu Yun’s mind.

He didn’t know what lay on the other side of reality and if it was even suitable for life. Why had the mistress, Dao King, and God appeared on this side?

The only thing about them that he was certain of was that they’d lost their memories of reality. Going home was just an instinctive urge. He needed to know more about reality on the other side before he made any decisions.

This was too important.

…Perhaps… The guys of the Divine Temple of Nothing were right. Maybe what they should do is to find a solution to the great destruction instead of running off to another unknown, foreign world.

“I can’t make any promises, let’s take a look first,” Lu Yun nodded.

“Let’s go!” The Light Deity seemed the perfect picture of frantic excitement as he rushed forward, but Lu Yun remained on guard, ready to use the Dragonspike Litany at any time. He wasn’t able to destroy the divine temple—as the Fire God had happily explained earlier—but nailing a mere Light Deity to death was very doable.

He was the only sign of life that Lu Yun saw in the rest of the Divine Temple of Nothing’s territory. There was nothing else, and no traces of life in a world that seemed otherwise vibrant and lush. Lu Yun arrived at no further answers when he employed formula dao.

The ancient tomb from reality was within the divine temple. Harrowing spatial fractures extended from it as spatial storms roared around the structure. If any of the storms made it to the Three Thousand, the realm would be obliterated.

A bleeding tombstone lay in the center of the fissures. Drops of bright red blood flowed into the cracks and were swallowed without a trace. Numerous characters were carved on the tombstone in a special font, but Lu Yun didn’t recognize any of them.

They were two worlds without any interaction, two wholly different civilizations. Even the Tome of Life and Death couldn’t provide any clues to what the words might say.

“Is that the ancient tomb?”

There was only a tombstone—the tomb proper was embedded in the void. Perhaps the barrier of nothing could be found on the other side of the void…

There was no concept of time in the void, so they might be on the outskirts of the Three Thousand, or they might be on the fringes of the barrier of nothing. The Divine Temple of Nothing could be anywhere.

“Prepare a few things for me.” Lu Yun suddenly turned to the Light Deity next to him.

“What do you want?” The other blinked.

“Your life,” Lu Yun said calmly.

“Huh?”

BOOM.

A pillar of black light descended from the sky and smashed into the Light Deity. He howled as the faint golden light around him dissipated, revealing an inky-black form.

“The Dragonquake Scripture!” he roared.

“Everyone in the nothing knows that I possess this method. You’re the only one who doesn’t.” Lu Yun cocked his head and looked at the other with a half smile. “I’m guessing you haven’t had the chance to make most of your moves yet and that most of the divine temple’s powerhouses are still alive, aren’t they? The only one dead is the unlucky Light God.”

The Light Deity was fake. Even though he didn’t reveal any flaws in his act, Lu Yun’s Karmic Tree could read emotions. The fraud had disguised himself very well, but he hadn’t been able to fool the Karmic Tree.

He’d also underestimated formula dao.

Lu Yun might’ve fallen for it if he hadn’t seen the ancient tomb. But with it close at hand and formula dao in constant operation, it immediately determined what this so-called Light Deity was.

An evil spirit from the ancient tomb!

In other words, he was from the reality beyond the barrier, but he was a dead spirit! Just like… the hordes of dead and yin spirits in the nothing. They were the same species and more terrifying than ordinary ghostly entities.

Was this the source of dead spirits in the nothing?

No, it was just a dead spirit from the ancient tomb, the same as the ones that Lu Yun had seen in the chief worlds. They weren’t related as this one’s only goal was the Divine Temple of Nothing.

Lu Yun’s arrival was outside of its expectations. It’d rushed here and told Lu Yun about the tomb, wanting to borrow it to kill the young man. It didn’t know about Lu Yun, yet none of this was a coincidence. Lu Yun’s presence at the Divine Temple of Nothing was fully part of someone’s plans.

Maybe the Dao King, or maybe the mistress.

Craaaack.

The pillar formed from the Dragonspike Litany brimmed with terrifying power and pierced through the dead spirit. Black flames sparked from it as it began to crack apart.

“Hahahaha!!” it snarled with laughter. “You pathetic ants will never escape from this cage…”

“I don’t need to,” Lu Yun responded calmly. “I just need to refine you.”

Whoosh!

The fire of reincarnation appeared in his hand and slowly set the dead spirit ablaze.
