Chapter 9: Cram school

After Xia Liang was kidnapped as a child, Xia Lin’s grandmother was so protective of her two grandchildren that she hired a group of bodyguards to follow them since they were kids. When they grew up, they simply had a personal bodyguard, who had to accompany them at all times, except when they were in bed.

This time Xia Lin went to A City to attend tuition classes and needed to stay in the area for a while, so naturally Zhou Shuo, as his personal bodyguard, had to accompany him.

However, since both of them were not yet old enough to take the driving test, Xia Liang offered to give them a ride.

As they got into the car, Xia Liang looked at Xia Lin through the rear-view mirror and asked, “Xiao Lin, why have you suddenly become such a good student recently? It’s really impressive.”

In fact, Xia Liang was only two years older than Xia Lin, but he looked much more mature and stable than Xia Lin.

Because Xia Lin liked to play with Song Yan when he was young, the two brothers were not that close.

Xia Liang was a scholar since childhood, and was recommended for university admission. Although Xia Lin was not stupid, he used to spend most of his time with Song Yan, and his grades were above average.

Although the two brothers did not communicate much, and although Xia Liang did not say so, the way he looked at Xia Lin, there was always a hint of dislike.

Now that Xia Lin is planning to be a determined student and apply for medical school, Xia Liang is the first to support him.

In Xia Liang’s opinion, although his family did not expect Xia Lin to be a great success, it was good to have a motivated mind. A diploma or other skills, the more the better, it would be a way to gild the tree of his family.

Xia Lin was thinking about something else and asked, “Brother, has the report of my medical examination come out yet?”

“I almost forgot if you didn’t mention it. The results came out yesterday and I asked Zhou Shuo to collect them for you.”

Zhou Shuo, who was sitting at the side, consciously took out the medical report from his backpack and handed it to Xia Lin.

Xia Lin eagerly flipped to the column of diagnosis results, and only when he saw that everything was normal was he slightly relieved. It seemed that he had gotten this disease a few years later and there were no symptoms in the early stages.

Xia Liang asked, “Have you been unwell lately, why did you suddenly want to go to the brain department for a check-up?”

“Oh, it’s nothing, I was a bit dizzy two days ago, so I went to the hospital to check it out. I was reassured that there was nothing wrong.” Xia Lin casually lied.

Xia Liang didn’t doubt it, nodded and said, “Maybe it’s temporary anaemia. It’s senior year, take care of your body.”

When they arrived in A City, Xia Liang sent them to the hotel they had booked in advance and instructed Zhou Shuo to follow Xia Lin to the cram school to complete the registration procedures, before he went back first.

Zhou Shuo was bored and had no talent for academics, so Xia Lin did not want to torment him. He let him wander around the area around the cram school to pass the time, and then went back to the hotel with him after class.

On the evening of the third day, when Xia Lin came out of class, he did not find Zhou Shuo outside the classroom, but saw Song Yan sitting in the same place where Zhou Shuo often sat, giving him a playful whistle.

Xia Lin was a little surprised by his appearance, but not that surprised, so he walked up and asked, “Where’s Zhou Shuo?”

“I sent him to buy drinks.” Song Yan made Zhou Shuo do so as a matter of course.

“…” Xia Lin felt that he needed to reshape Zhou Shuo’s world view. After all, he was his master and should stop treating Song Yan’s words as holy orders like he did before.

Song Yan walked up and grabbed Xia Lin’s arm, “Hey, Xia Lin, it’s been almost a month since we’ve seen each other. You don’t want to give me a warm hug when we meet?”

At this time, Song Yan was still a straight man, or rather, he hadn’t realized that he had the potential to become bent. Therefore, when he said he wanted to hug Xia Lin, it was just a hug between buddies.

But Xia Lin could not accept it openly.

Although he had decided to part ways with Song Yan, he was still physically unable to resist the charm that Song Yan exuded inadvertently.

Even though Song Yan was still a young boy, he was already 5’5″, and his handsome appearance and unpretentious personality made him the centre of attention everywhere he went.

So before Song Yan could come up to him, Xia Lin took the first step to push him away.

Song Yan was stunned for a moment, then suddenly became a bit annoyed: “Xia Lin, are you fucking sick? I don’t even care about your previous ungratefulness, and I even brought a box of Australian specialties to A City to look for you, but you are still messing with me. What the hell is wrong with you?”
