No Second Chances: The Beginning Of The End

Chapter 49 - 46: The Cult And The Organization.

In front of Cristobal, Sinns was holding onto the arms of the two soldiers who were carrying her. However, the two soldiers were looking at her in silence before suddenly bloating and exploding. Sinns had an uninterested expression, looking at what happened without flinching as if she was looking at something totally natural.

Aster was marvelled by what he just witnessed and bowed down to her immediately. “Oh almighty lord, please guide us through the vessel we humbly offer you.” –He requested while keeping his head down as Cristobal felt an urge to avoid any eye contact.

Sinns slowly walked down the altar while the remaining liquid from the floor began to move away from her as if Sinns was repelling the viscous substance. The soldiers around Cristobal began to fall on their knees and pray in a language he had never heard before. The urge of doing the same thing invaded Cristobal as he helplessly copied them. Involuntarily, Cristobal began to speak words he never knew about and adopted a praying position. Fear and desperation invaded him while in the presence of Sinns.

Aster seemed unaffected by the situation before him; the ritual was successful to the extent of his knowledge and the guests who brought Sinns seemed to be busy for the time being. As he was content, Aster simply left them there, forgiving their lives as he slowly approached Sinns. “My lord, please come this way, there is a world that needs your grace and divinity in order to find salvation.” –Aster begged while falling on his knees and pointing towards the door he came from as he also lowered his head.

Silently, Sinns looked at Aster with an emotionless expression before walking towards the direction he mentioned. Anyone who saw Sinns walking through the hallways of the facility under the hill simply kneeled down and began to pray. Aster seemed to be the only exception to this situation, as his ancestor was one of the gifted people who received a blessing from God, which he currently holds. By the time Sinns stepped out of the facility, every human being, half-breed and Elf on her way was left into a praying state that rendered immobile for hours.

The sky turned cloudy as if a storm was about to fall on Metan. Aster blindly followed Sinns, understanding that the Messiah would need to get used to the current new world first. Upon realizing this, Aster used his influence to show the nation to Sinns.

Hours later, after passing out, Cristobal woke up in the same place he lost his consciousness, and around him, the rest of the soldiers who accompanied him. After several attempts to wake them up, it seemed like they were in a deep sleep state. Cristobal then realized the soldiers were undergoing the same sleep state he was subjected to when starting to learn about magic. This led him to wonder if he was also into a similar sleep state but failed as he had already gone through it. Without wasting any more time, he decided to leave the area without his team, attempting to get to the vehicles his team and he came with.

However, Cristobal was met with the same group of people that greeted him when crossing the border. The same lady wearing a plain mask was walking towards him while the group behind her was opening a path to walk through. “We see in you the possibility of avoiding disaster; we need you to be a messenger, the only one who can stop what just awakened, is another awakened entity that your nation was hiding. The receiver is someone you have already crossed paths with.” –The masked lady explained in a calm tone. “The receiver is an incomplete vessel, but once he meets with us, the true shape of what lies within him will take form.” –She continued while bowing down to Cristobal and stepping aside. “In the land of the sacred, a godly being will bring devastation to the new era, as a dweller of the dark is the last hope of a sinful world.” –The lady finalized before silently waiting for Cristobal to leave.

With several questions in his head, Cristobal attempted to retain the information he was given while hesitantly walking through the path opened by the people in robes. “Wait but who is the person I have to deliver this information to?” –Cristobal asked as he stopped to turn around and find out the group of people was gone without a trace. As unsettling as it was to him, Cristobal sighed and left the place to go back to Delcyt, hoping he would be able to find any help.

Back in Casamira, a specialized team of doctors and engineers were operating Gree, attaching the prosthetic limbs left by Ivan and trying to discuss its functionality. The surgery lasted 3 days, and Gree had to be in emergencies several times as her body kept rejecting the prosthesis until it eventually came to stabilize. Elvira kept taking care of Gree while Chronos focused on his own recovery, thankfully for him, Pandora hasn’t appeared for days and his recovery has been going well, allowing him to freely move around the facility more often.

Once he heard about Gree entering a big surgery, he went to the waiting room Along with Elvira and stayed there in case he could be able to see the progress of the operation. I wonder what we will do after we get to leave this place. Maybe Nat will beat me up again for not contacting her?... –Chronos thought while sighing after remembering he has to tell Nat about what happened to Phil.

Outside of the medical facility, Lorenz and Ali were managing the reconstruction of Casamira after the incident with Lawrence. As they were idling for a moment, Ali called one of his contacts to present them to Lorenz who seemed rather confused about the sudden call. As expected by Ali, the person arrived Casamira in a matter of 2 hours making Lorenz wonder where the person came from as Casamira is at the very least 4 hours away from the cities.

Ali happily greeted a rather old person who was in a suit and brought him to Lorenz to introduce him. “Lorenz, this is my buddy Jeff from an important organization, he is actually helping fund the reconstruction of Casamira. And Jeff, this is Lorenz, not only the best blacksmith I’ve met in my life, but also a great CEO of his own metallurgic company.” –Ali presented each other expecting them to shake hands, and so they did, while nodding to each other.

“Nice to meet you, Lorenz, I’m Jefferson Styles, and I’ve heard a lot about you from this guy right here” –Jeff mentioned while casually pointing at Ali. “I’m also a CEO of my own company. It has grown quite a bit through the years, and I’m going around finding really bright stars to join it. However, you are taking care of your own business and I believe it would be best to just leave you my presentation card.” –Jeff casually spoke while handing a small business card to Lorenz, who took it hesitantly.

Upon inspecting the black card, Lorenz saw only the name of Jeff and his phone number engraved in it with a golden colour. This is quite nice, I should also make business cards like this, but there is so little information, what does he do? –Lorenz thought while shifting his attention between the card and Jeff who was patiently letting him revise it. “Um, may I know what kind of business you run?” –Lorenz hesitantly asked.

With a small chuckle, Jeff pointed his index finger up subtly while looking at Lorenz, making him turn to Ali dumbfounded as Ali nodded and pointed up too. Suddenly, an overwhelming shadow covered the village, immediately causing panic within the walls as the source of the shadow was a gigantic piece of land floating in the air. Lorenz was simply speechless, looking at the sky and trying to find the words to express his amazement. “Fuck…” –Was all Lorenz said while leaving his mouth open in amazement.

“It is imposing, isn’t it? It’s been my home for a while now. I find it quite cosy up there.” –Jeff mentioned while using a special whistle to call something. “Why don’t we take a look up there?” –Jeff invited Ali and Lorenz to go to the floating island before a massive being with 4 limbs and wings began to descend from it.

A dragon, easily of the size of a plane gracefully landed outside of Casamira. Everyone who saw it attempted to escape and the soldiers readied their weapons to shoot. However, Lorenz ran towards them and did his best to tell the soldiers to call down as the Dragon did mean any threat to the village. In the end, Jeff walked towards laughing along with Ali who seemed quite relaxed. “How can you be so calm about such an immense creature? Not even the ones we saw before were half as big and this Dragon.” –Lorenz asked Ali, as he hesitantly approached the winged beast carefully while Ali walked casually to it.

“Let’s say it is not my first time.” –Ali replied with a smile as he followed Jeff on top of the dragon’s back, which was fully equipped to be ridden by several people at a time. The design of the mount caught Lorenz attention and found out it was more modern and equipped than it initially seemed.
