Chapter 268: A Boxing Game
Bloom went to the nearest hotel and then logged out. "It's already night," he muttered before stretching out his body, "I need to take care of my body condition better."
He recalled a room where many equipment were there to use. He moved in wide steps towards the direction of the room that wasn't popular in the times of the old Terry.
"I should start with my arms and legs first," he checked the thin body he currently had before sighing, "that Terry… he seemed quite careless towards his body."
Bloom wasn't satisfied by the current body condition and started to select some programs with the help of the local AI of the mansion.
Despite he changed the outer appearance of Terry's body he still held the old physique traits of it.
"So I need to spend ten minutes on this machine before resting for five and then go to this one…" he read the instructions provided over the main screen in the room.
Then he started training for a couple of hours straight before stopping. "I need to take it easy over this body," he was panting.
"I never thought the famous Henry was a training colic."
Suddenly he heard this voice before turning to face the speaker with a soaked shirt that was glued over his body.
"I thought you were playing," he said to Liza who walked in with a dejected look over her face.
"I… hate that game to the bone," she muttered in a way that made Bloom realize there was more to what she said.
"Wanting to rant out?" he suggested while feeling a little regret of bringing her away from her home. He just wanted to score a point over Dockrey and humiliate him yet he didn't have anything in particular against the girl.
"Sigh," she shook her head before heading to sit on one piece of equipment beside him, "you won't understand."
"Try me," he tried to be kind to her.
"Why would you even care?" she suddenly said in an aggressive tone, "after all you got what you desire, even won me in a stupid game test which gave me one more reason to hate it."
Bloom went into silence for a moment before saying, "do you want to go home?"
"Acting magnanimous all of sudden? What's the reason of this generosity my lord?"
He glanced at her with a loss over his face. "You… are really hard to deal with," he muttered.
"Humph, it's just the way of the life I lived."
"It seems you weren't living at all," Bloom sighed, "alright I'll leave you alone. After all, I finished all my training here."
"Tell me something," she suddenly stopped him, "would you kill someone if you got the chance?"
He paused and felt weird about this question. "Killing can vent some anger but won't solve problems," he thought before answering.
"Wise… slightly unexpected," she muttered, "What about we spar a little?"
She motioned towards a boxing arena that was in the corner. It was big enough to rival the big boxing arenas of the pros but Bloom never thought of using it before.
After all, it needed two to play there and he didn't have the time to do that.
"You know how to box?" he asked in interest.
"I know how to hit a strong punch," she smiled for the first time, "do you love boxing?"
"First time for me," he shrugged and was honestly answering her.
"Having such a big arena without using it is a sin… let's spar, at least I can test something."
"What?" Bloom followed her and opened a side locker where he found the suited gloves that could be used for more than two plus head guards and other gears.
He gave her enough before he wore his. "It's… something I just got," she vaguely said, "and I need to see if it's good or just useless."
Bloom glanced deeply at her before passing under the belts, "you look quite troubled for a young lady," he said trying to lighten the suddenly tense atmosphere.
"It's like you said, I never lived my life before," yet she simply answered him in a more serious tone, "let's start, but heads up… I might get rough on you."
"Don't worry," he hit the two gloves together, "I can handle a girl like you."
She laughed like he just said a joke, "I promise I won't kill you."
He laughed as he took her words way too light. "Here I come," he started to move around while feeling some limitation due to his already exhausted body.
Yet sparring with this little chick here seemed more appealing to him than going to rest alone or even take a cold shower.
"C'mon, don't you know how to punch?" she sneered and her face looked really funny inside the soft cushion like helmet she was wearing.
"Ladies first," he tried to not embarrass her but she only laughed, "you take me so lightly," she said, "if I were you then I would be more careful while dealing with me."
"I know that cats can meow loudly and scratch wildly," he said with a short laugh.
And something he said seemed to get on her nerves, or might be his laugh as the next moment her face changed and she moved towards him.
At first she took a normal step and he took one back to maintain the gap between the two, yet the next moment she suddenly moved fast, faster than any normal human could do.
She even turned blurry and all he could see was an after image of her body making his eyes wide.
"Boom!"
And the next moment he went flying outside the ring and fell heavily over the ground.
"Sorry," she hurriedly said, "I… didn't mean to kill you."
Her tone was so low as she glanced at the motionless body of Bloom lying on the ground. She knew she just used her newly acquired strength and that hit seemed enough to damage a truck not just kill a human.
"Who are you calling dead?" Yet all of sudden Bloom arched his body before jumping shortly and stood erect afterwards. She glared at him with an extremely shocked expression over her face while even her body trembled faintly.
"Why are you glaring at me like that?" he laughed while entering the ring again, "let's continue, I loved that strong hit of yours."
She raised her glove that just hit his face and clenched her fist before relaxing it. "What's going on?" she couldn't help but mutter before glancing over the jumping from side to side Bloom, "you… look alive."
"Why are you acting weird?" Bloom sneered, "you asked for a spar and I'll give you one that you won't forget. Let's continue."
She hesitated before thinking she misjudged her punch this time as this was the second time to use this force. "Let's test it again," she smiled and accepted the logic her mind provided.
"Watch out," Bloom didn't let her advance as he took the initiative and moved. He wasn't moving at a speed comparable to her yet he was faster than any normal human.
But she couldn't see that as she started to move faster than him, evaded his charge and appeared just beside him before a strong punch was delivered to his exposed kidney.
Yet strangely enough her punch hit nothing but thin air. In a fraction of second Bloom adjusted his body and let her punch move a few millimeters away from his kidney before turning around as if he was dancing and then he hit her exposed head with his punch.
"Boom!"
This time it was her turn to be thrown to the air like a feather in a storm before falling heavily on the ground and rolling a few meters there before finally stopping in front of an equipment.
"Are you… alright?" he asked despite knowing she wasn't much affected by his punch.
And he was right as she stood up from the ground looking harmless from the outside. Yet she was eyeing him with a shocked expression over her face and never moved an inch after standing.
"What?" he asked while feeling puzzled, "have you got enough from the spar?"
"Who are you?" she suddenly asked.
"I guess you know who I am," he simply said as he stopped jumping and moving his aching body while feeling there was something else he missed here.
"What do you know about… that game?"
He glanced in doubt at her before smiling, "I know it's a very interesting game, not that hideous and distasteful as you might think."
"That wasn't my question," she shook her head.
"Then ask directly," he shrugged, "I don't get what you want to know."
She glanced in doubt towards him for long minutes before sighing, turning around and took off her gears while leaving the place.
"What's the hell wrong with her?"
He glanced at her back before she vanished behind the door leaving him alone.
"Yet that strength in her punch…" he felt his face while removing his gears to show off a small rounded blue mark on his cheeks, "it seemed it doesn't belong to any human category."
He started to revise everything again before kneeling to check the ring and the places where he and she fell.
"Indeed something looks suspicious here," he couldn't reach a definite conclusion yet he was sure she showed superhuman strength just now.
"What happened to you in the game?" he softly muttered while restraining the urge to go and ask her about that. After all that tattoo of his was his secret, no one should ever learn a thing about it.
"Time to get a shower then," he sighed before dropping the gears down like she did and went outside towards the sauna room.
