Oh! My Empress

That day, something changed. Something broke and Kim Su Won took the decision to give her all to make use of this second chance to her life. She could not repeat her mistakes of the past. Even if she had only four years here, she was going to make the most out of them.

"Anna, it's been a few days but I do not see any classes for me. I feel bored. Am I not being educated?" Kim Su Won was taking a bath in the bath tub. She had gotten accustomed to Anna tending to her every need. She could not even take a bath without her. She had lazed around for around a week to recover from lack of nutrients after her new body of Emmeline Whittemore fell into the lake.

Thankfully, in the meantime no one had come to visit her apart from Chris. She had grown quite close to the kid to the point where he was sleeping, eating and spending his whole day with her. It was not bad to have the kid around, her days were at least not filled with doing nothing.

But she still was itching to do something productive. It really felt like a waste to her, doing nothing the whole day. She had admired her own beauty enough too. She still could not believe she was Emmeline Whittemore, her long blonde hair was till her waist, her features were so perfect that Kim Su Won had started to forget her own face from previous life.

Her question startled the maid who was scrubbing her miss's back. Her miss was never interested in learning, which was why she had made a big fuss and got all her teachers dismissed. No one was interested in teaching her miss anymore, she had let all the revered teachers in the capital run for their lives. How was she to answer her miss now? Anna went into a trance, to think how she could reply to her miss without offending her.

Kim Su Won understood her maid's predicament. She already knew the teachers had been dismissed by original Emmeline. This was mentioned in the novel, which is why everyone was shocked when it was revealed that all the new interesting ventures in the capital area were by her. Everyone thought she was an uneducated barbarian.

"It's okay, you can be blunt. Never mind actually, I remember I made them all run away. I need you to do two things for me. Get me a list of people I offended the least, and if there are any new scholars in the town that have not been approached to be my teacher. Could you do that for me?" Kim Su Won had made the decision to get the best education in the Kingdom, this time, on her own terms.

In her previous life, she had always been interested in social studies rather than science. But because of pressure from her family, she had ended up taking engineering. It landed her in a completely unhappy life. But now, she could take up whatever she wanted, sports, politics, history, languages, you name it.

She also needed to know the market and how trade worked if she were to pave the way for the soul that was to transmigrate in this body four years later. She could just learn business, right?

Anna's eyes sparkled and her chest swelled with pride. Her miss was finally talking some sense. Her miss had truly changed for the better, had she not? She was going to run the errand as soon as she finished with the bath.

"Oh, and also, look into the knights for me. Now that I have decided to live a quiet life dedicated to learning, I would need to have someone protecting me. We have one of the best knights units and I know father would not say no to me getting one for myself. Get me the list of the knights deemed the second best," Kim Su Won said, as she combed her wet hair with her fingers in the tub. She really liked the feel of her silky soft hair. She never had this quality of hair ever in her life. If nothing else, at least this girl had paid attention to her body.

"Second best?" Anna was confused. Would not everyone ask for the best of the best when it came to choosing knights for themselves? Why would her miss go for something worse than the best?

"Of course! The best knights would obviously be reserved for my elder sister and brother. I don't want to be competing with them and accruing their ire towards myself. Let them be. Plus, the second best knights are more motivated to compete with and achieve the best status," Kim Su Won replied nonchalantly. She was the same in her previous life. She had to strive to be the best ranker in her class because her mother pushed her so much. And when she was not able to fulfill that order, she was scolded by her mom so much. That was one different kind of motivation to be the best.

She was not going to adopt the same tactics as her mother, she knew how harmful it was for a human's psyche. But she could still fuel the desire in someone always being rated the second best in their lives by encouragement. Anyway, there was also a particular person she was looking for. This knight was supposed to be the best of the best but could never develop his skills because he was low born and was given fewer opportunities.

His superiors were quite aware of his talent but did not want a commoner to surpass them, and so they suppressed him left and right. He later was chosen to serve under the third prince. She had to find this guy before the third prince, so she could develop him herself and reserve him for the Emmeline Whittemore of the future.

"Hah! What a generous woman I am. I am going to work hard for the girl who will be taking over here four years later," Kim Su Won flicked her hair, an arrogance taking over. Yes, she really had nothing to fear. She could wreak havoc now because she was not going to be here any way in the future.. She snickered at her own ingenious plan.
