Oh! My Empress

Before she could make a decision, Kim Su Won and Anna were startled with the door of her room open abruptly with a bang.

"Emma!" she heard an enthusiastic and charming husky low voice.

She looked up, this was one new character she had yet to meet.

"What are you doing here?" she barked. She had not seen her elder brother Ivan Whittemore just yet in her almost two weeks here but she could tell right away that it was him. He had been described in great detail by the author of the novel. Moreover, he did end up becoming the next duke of the dukedom. The silver hair and deep blue ocean eyes, completed with a small handsome face and very well built body could ensnare any girl. No wonder he was a popular character on the forums although his personality was completely trash.

Anyway, she was not interested in entertaining him. She had much more important things to do. Moreover, she was getting ready. Did this guy not have even that much decency to knock?

Ivan Whittemore was taken aback by the cold shoulder her sister had suddenly given him. He had come here to boast how he had been appointed as a judge for some kind of test for her and see her grovel before him and beg for his help. But he had not expected that this kid, who had always been running after him and his elder sister for attention would act as if he was some sewer rat. He was speechless for a few seconds but regained his composure instantly.

"What do you mean? I came to congratulate you on your feat and wanted to check how much you know to have accepted a challenge like that. As far as I know you don't even know how to read and write," Ivan Whittemore's perfect set of pearly white teeth forming a grin.

As expected, this boy had come here to tease her. This boy was the same age as the crown prince, fourteen years old. Yet he was still bratty, thanks to their mother's pampering and protection to him. In the novel, he inherited the dukedom but because no one had ever held him accountable for his actions in the past, he ended up destroying it. Later, because of her amazing reputation, he would run to Emmeline to help him out save the duchy.

But the businesswoman Emmeline would not give him even an iota of attention. She was too cool and sassy and remembered all the torture original Emmeline had gone through because of this guy's and her sister's schemes.

She was pretty sure that no matter what, this brother sister pair was going to try to fail her. But she also knew if she was going to be politically correct in her answers, then there was no way these two siblings could do anything. So, she had to put her faith in Isaac Laurent.

"I am sorry brother, but it seems your information is quite outdated," Kim Su Won flicked her long hair with confidence. It was a surprise to her that she had not experienced trembling or crying apart from before Audrey.

If it were her original world, she would have raised her voice but having self-esteem issues, she would have broken down instantly too. This had happened to her on several occasions and all the fault lied in her never having been independent. She was always following her mother's orders, so she had no awareness of self. And thus, if she had to verbally fight with someone, whether a public official or a colleague, she would rather not face them.

For the longest time, she had thought she was just an introvert. But breaking down due to anxiety was definitely due to lack of self confidence. And it took her so much time to understand this simple thing.

Was it because she did not feel attached to this body and world just yet?

Even if people were judging her here, how would it affect her? She was to be replaced in four years anyway.

The consequences of her actions would not influence her future because she did not have one, right?

With these thoughts, she stood up from her chair and went to sit on the sofa, glancing towards her brother. Those blue eyes, like a sapphire, were completely puzzled.

What had happened to his sister? Had she hit her head when she was drowning or something? She was not afraid that he would fail her in the exam? Why? Why was she not begging him already?

And what did she mean 'outdated'? He had made fun of her right on the day she jumped into the lake about how she was unable to do even the simplest of the tasks in life, including reading and writing. It could not be that she learnt it all within a week or so.

"Ayyy, do you think you can bluff me little sister? Just the other day, before your accident…"

"Before my accident?" she instantly glared at him. Did he know something about the accident? Was he there when it happened? She still had not solved the mystery because this body did not have the memories of the day. She did not know if it was a suicide attempt on Emmeline Whittemore's part or someone pushed her in or she fell in by accident.

But since Emmeline Whittemore was not a character who would give up on life easily, it definitely could not be a suicide attempt. Anyway, this brother of hers could be the key to finding it out!

"Ah… I mean before you accidently fell into the lake, you had come begging to me to help you out with some things. Don't you remember?" Ivan's eyes glinted with epiphany. He did feel that this girl had changed too much after the accident but had she lost her memories too? No wonder there was no fuss after she woke up. He had really worried over nothing.

Kim Su Won contemplated a bit. She could not tell anyone the truth of her transmigration but she also could not hide the fact that she did not remember things around the accident forever. It would be better to fess it up.

She rubbed her temple with her hand and frowned, "yeah, my memories around that time are a bit fuzzy."
