C7 – Cause and Effect

On the way to the hospital, Jiang Hao’s expression turned extremely grim.

“How dare you lay a hand on my father? I’ll make sure you regret being alive!”

Jiang Hao clenched his teeth and swore inwardly!

The wait always felt agonizingly long. Jiang Hao anxiously waited until he finally reached Tianhai Hospital.

Upon locating the ward, Jiang Hao pushed open the door and entered.

He saw an ordinary middle-aged man wearing a hospital gown, lying on the bed with a drip attached. This was Jiang Hao’s father, Jiang Weiping.

By his side, a middle-aged woman attentively cared for Jiang Weiping. This was Jiang Hao’s mother, Guo Chunlan!

At the same time, on the other side of the bed, a young girl’s face was streaked with tears, her eyes red with worry. She gazed at Jiang’s father with concern. This was Jiang Hao’s younger sister, Jiang Zixuan!

Jiang Hao swiftly approached and anxiously asked.

“Dad, how are you?”

At this moment, his mother chimed in, “Your father is fine. The doctor advised him to rest for a few days. Hao, you’re about to take your college entrance exams. Hurry back and study. You still have classes tomorrow!”

It appeared that both his sister and mother had received instructions from his father and refrained from speaking the truth.

“I’m almost done with my revisions. It’s alright!”

However, Jiang’s father disagreed. He chased Jiang Zixuan and Jiang Hao away, insisting that they go home and focus on studying.

Feeling helpless, Jiang Hao and Jiang Zixuan left the ward.

“Zixuan, what did the doctor say?”

As they walked out of the ward and reached the hospital’s ground floor, Jiang Hao spoke coldly.

Jiang Zixuan glanced at Jiang Hao and sensed that her usually ineffectual brother had changed. After a brief hesitation, she finally spoke up.

“The doctor said that one of Dad’s ribs is fractured, but fortunately, it’s not displaced. Overall, his condition is stable. With regular medication and three months of rest, he should recover.”

Hearing this, Jiang Hao let out a sigh of relief. However, as he thought about the person who inflicted such injuries upon his father, a surge of hatred filled him.

“Do you know who attacked Dad? Why would someone hurt my father?”

But, Jiang Zixuan appeared somewhat apprehensive and stumbled over her words, reluctant to disclose anything.

“Speak!”

Jiang Hao departed from his usual demeanor and shouted in a cold voice!

His icy outburst frightened Jiang Zixuan to the point of trembling.

“It’s Hong Liang. He demanded 2,000 yuan from Dad as protection money.”

“Dad hadn’t been running his stall for long. Where did he manage to get that much money? Later, Hong Liang snatched the hard-earned 1,000 yuan from Dad. When Dad went to ask for it back, he was beaten up by Hong Liang’s lackeys!”

After hearing this, Jiang Hao was instantly consumed by fury.
