Overlord: Start from the Goblin Lair

Chapter 530 Shadows of the Past

Ron hurriedly said goodbye to Gillianis and followed Yelena to the cathedral in Green Swamp Town. Since the priests of Fromm Town also moved here with the civilians, it was much more lively than before.

However, they were no longer the leaders. The former "special" Tymora priest Bunny became their leader, and two men who were said to have dark pasts became her deputies.

Today, one of them went to the countryside to preach and give alms, so it was Glenn who received Ron.

"Glenn, what happened?" Ron asked straight to the point after following him into a secret room on the side.

Ge Lan did not answer Ron directly, but took out a letter with a blasphemous mark from his personal place and handed it to Ron carefully: "Lord, you will understand after reading this."

"I'm sorry, because this kind of secret letter is not allowed to fall into the hands of believers of the true God, so once it is purified, it will be destroyed immediately, and the status quo can only be maintained without any treatment. But please rest assured, this is just a letter, and there is no risk of losing control."

Ron glanced at the other party suspiciously. This letter did not look like a serious letter. Even Ron, who had limited reverence for the gods, could feel the ominous atmosphere emanating from it. He carefully opened the envelope and spread the letter paper in front of him.

"To the devout believer, Sir Glenn..."

This is a daily letter between believers who believe in Lord Dark. In the first half, the writer detailed his thoughts and love for Glenn, and expressed his deep feelings beyond friendship with a tactful tone and beautiful handwriting. In the more important second half, it shows that they have received some instructions to sneak into the delusion land in batches in secret to realize the plan of "opening the road to heaven".

The writer hopes that Glenn and the others can help them avoid the sight of the lord, but Glenn handed the letter to Ron.

"I really don't want to get involved in their affairs, sir," Ge Lan sighed quietly, "Although I am not qualified to know the full picture of the current delusion land, I can roughly guess that the danger we are facing is likely to be the same as their goal. We can't let them succeed."

"Don't worry, they won't," Ron smiled after reading the letter, "Thank you for your efforts, Pastor Ge Lan."

"But I'm a little curious, didn't you break off relations with them before? Why did they find you?"

"They don't believe in the right gods, how can it be so easy to break off relations..." Ge Lan smiled bitterly, "Before, I thought they had confirmed that I died in that demon village like everyone else, but I didn't expect that they would take the initiative to find me recently."

"I did tell them that I am not suitable for participating in the event at the moment, but... the relationship between this person who wrote the letter and me is a bit... special. She doesn't believe it anyway, and just thinks that I have a bigger plan, such as this action."

"That's why she sent me a letter to ask me to cooperate."

"Special relationship?" Ron looked at him curiously, and the latter's neck immediately turned red.

"It's not what you think! She, she and I don't have a particularly complicated relationship. It's just that she joined the cult, uh, went astray, it was my fault."

Glenn lowered her head in shame: "Maybe this is the sin I haven't redeemed yet..."

"You should be ashamed," Ron shook his head regretfully and patted the other's shoulder, "Then what are you going to do? Kill her and other cult members for the sake of justice?"

Glenn was silent for a while, and finally sighed: "My lord, this is what I'm struggling with. I'm thinking-"

"You don't have to think about it , I completely understand your feelings of not wanting her to die," Ron waved his hand, "but you also have to understand that this is not an easy thing."

"I know, from the letter, they seem to be taking more radical measures, which is advocated by the organizers behind them. I have no doubt that even if you magnanimously forgive her or even them, you can't save the souls that have been corroded to the depths."

Glenn looked at Ron tangledly: "My lord, I know that when this happens, we will let some of them go first, and then try to wipe them out when their main force comes into sight, but... can you do the opposite?"

"You mean, take action as soon as possible, let them retreat when they know the difficulty, and scare them away?"

"That's right, you see, the letter says the specific date and the location and method of infiltration. In two days, they will have a five-member team, disguised as merchants, coming north from the avenue. You may be able to-"

Ron looked into Glenn's eyes, forcing the priest to swallow all the words that followed: "My lord?"

"Glenn, how credible do you think you are in their eyes after being away from the past for a long time?"

Glenn Stunned for a moment: "She is different, different from others, she shouldn't be..."

"Is she the leader of your group? Or do you think she is someone who could become the leader?"

The priest of Tymora pondered for a moment: "No, sir, even if she can be a candidate, her ranking should be quite low."

"Then why do you think that the cult can have the same feelings for you as she does? Even more cold-blooded: do you really think that after so long, she is still the same as before?"

"You mean-"

"Look, Ge Lan, there are no thousands of meters of walls around the Delusion Land to block it from the outside world, and the road only represents that caravans or travelers prefer to move along it. How do you determine why they choose to go along the road?"

"You know, you haven't walked this way before."

The back of Ge Lan's neck suddenly felt a little cold: "What if, if you listened to my suggestion and ambushed them-"

"Not only will it not make them become frightened birds, but it will further understand our details and even retaliate against us-especially you, Ge Lan. Your reputation as a traitor is confirmed. I don't think the cult that believes in the Lord of Darkness is a group that repays evil with virtue. What do you think?"

"Yelena." Ron stood up and called the name of the shadow spirit. He knew that the other party should not have gone far.

"I'm here," Shadow Spirit walked out of the shadows, "What do you need me to do?"

"Glenn, give her the route map of the road you took to enter the delusion land. Yelena, I need you to patrol along the route as soon as possible. Don't miss any clues. Report as soon as you find any clues."

"I suspect they have already started to act before this so-called 'two days later'." (End of this chapter)
