Chapter 28: Chapter 28 Why did they have to be spiders again?

′′ Run faster Desmond Astryd, unless you want to be the dinner of those things back there′′. I gasped while running, anyone who saw me right now would think hell is burning behind me.

That thought wouldn’t be too far from reality. . . thinking better of it; I think I would rather it was hell back there.

′′I’m sorry, it’s okay?; I know that blaspheming in your holy name is not right, but don’t you think you’re exaggerating a bit? . . Come on, you are the almighty and beautiful goddess of fortune, take pity on me a little. ”

Seeing that my shameless insincere prayers were ignored, I resigned himself to my cruel fate and prepared for battle; I turned around to look at my adversary and heroically shouted:

′′ Come little scum, Desmond Astryd will get you a one-way trip to hell; Come on, I can do this all day.′′

But underneath the heroic image of my was a man with a fear of spiders who couldn’t stop crying inside because of my bad luck.

′′ Why did they have to be spiders? ′′

.....

(moments before the worst moment of Desmond’s life, Desmond POV)

Leaving in the past that shameful incident with the frost owl, I approached the place where Kyuru was; she left the solemn appearance she had on her while she helped me and went back to her usual playful demeanor.

′′ I don′t know what you did, but thanks for that Kyuru; There is no doubt that you are the most amazing fairy in the world. ” I exclaimed without any shame for flattering little Kyuru.

′′ Hum Hum it is good that you know how to recognize my greatness, but in reality, it was nothing; just channel my connection to you by increasing your sensitivity to mana by several levels. Nothing too difficult for the great Kyuru.′′

Maybe Kyuru had become more aware of herself or the fact that her partner is a fucking pervert; this time she used her small arms to cover her huge breasts that always bounced when she acted arrogantly.

When I saw her gestures, I couldn’t help but feel that I had lost something very important to me, my motivation was on the ground, and hope was lost. As I wallowed in my misery for completely stupid reasons, I approached what was left of the owl’s carcass; Looking at the bloody pieces inside the blanket I decided that I would just use analysis and get out of this place.

The only valuable thing was his feathers? . . I don’t think there is any of them left in this bloody mess I left here. To hell, I’m out of here.

′′ Come on Kyuru, I would like to see more of the forest and find something for us to eat later .′′

Seeing the fairy lie back down on the little bed inside my backpack, I could only smile bitterly at her laziness.

After walking for a few minutes, a small clearing is observed ahead, a cave of earth is in the middle of it, but the most important thing would be the tree that is right at the entrance of the cave. Following the usual routine, take out the hunter’s book and use analysis on the fruits of the tree.

(Author’s note: from here on nature elemental affinity will change to wood elemental affinity).

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

′′ What? That thing does not serve me a bit, the best thing I can do if I get it would be to exchange it with the association; Maybe I should consider learning alchemy since the profession is mentioned a lot in the hunter’s book. “I said thinking aloud as I looked around.

′′ That cave gives me a bad premonition, should I take a risk ?. . . that I be struck by lightning if Desmond Astryd flinches for so little. ”

So I ran with everything I had, I quickly approached the tree; without any time to appreciate the metallic beauty of the fruits, I just take them all. But maybe because karma had come to settle debts with me for all those women that I cheated on in the past or because I wasn’t sneak enough before approaching the cave; a series of ghoulish screeches echoed from the bottom of the cave.

′′ Holy shit. . . I think I know that noise. . . please the goddess of fortune that is not what I think it is′′. I said while turning mechanically to observe the origin.

The screeches grew louder, and the noises the creatures made moving in the dark began to become deafening. When the creatures finally revealed themselves, goosebumps spread all over my body and I almost pissed on my pants.

What came out of the cave were at least twenty giant spiders the size of a dog, their red eyes seemed to crave my blood and their diabolical jaws asked for my flesh; wood-colored the damn things stopped just half a second out of the cave before running towards me. I didn’t even try to be brave, I just turned around and ran for my life.

I just ran and ran, but things kept following me, it seems like I really bothered them this time; As I ran, I kept cursing my luck and asking the goddess of fortune for forgiveness. Because that didn’t seem to work, I decided it was time to turn around and fight. Let my fear turn to hatred for those stupid spiders and send them to say hello to the aqua rabbits I have sent to hell.

′′ Come little scum, Desmond Astryd will get you a one-way trip to hell; Come on, I can do this all day.′′

With a heroic cry to end my fear. I still bitterly muttered a few words before starting the battle.

′′ Why did they have to be spiders? ′′
