Paying The Price

In the elevator, Zach gave Diana some instructions in a low voice with his head bent down "When we step out, don't look up, hook your arm with mine and keep calm. Try your best to make us look like a loving family of three and most importantly breathe."

Diana took a deep breath, she hooked arms with Zach and tried to calm down. She was extremely worried, for herself, her daughter and sister, looking at the sleeping sugar, Diana didn't want anything bad to happen to her. Not too long ago she experienced an accident, now they were being hunted by mysterious people.

The sound of the elevator indicated it was time to walk out, with her head slightly lowered and her arm on Zach's, Diana tried her possible best to look calm.

Successfully they existed the building, following Zach's lead she entered an unknown vehicle, it wasn't the car she knew him with. However she entered it anyway.

"Now can you tell me what's going on?" Diana eagerly asked for an explanation.

"You're too much in a hurry. Quickly text Nikki not to come back home then turn off your phone." Zach started the car and zoomed off.

While texting, Diana glanced at the rear view mirror and could vividly see Pearl at the back seat, fastened to the seat with a seat belt as she slept soundly.

After turning her phone off she asked with anxiety "So what's going on?"

With a deep breath Zach explained "There are two sides coming for you, one would spare you and Pearl maybe me too but I'm sure after some torture, the other would spare only you and would definitely kill me and maybe Pearl too. Both sides are ruled by your grandfathers."

"The safer side is your father's father, Henry Black, the latter from your mother's father, Simeon Aniston. They are rulers of extremely high secret society also known as underworlds. And you're the main target."

"Wait a minute, if both are my grandfathers, why would one want to kill my daughter?" Zach's words made no sense to Diana.

"Cause she's going to be an obstruction."

"An obstruction? Look this is crazy, am just an orphan with no family."

"So you're saying your parents fell from heaven and you were born in the sky? Diana every one has a family, some are crazier than others. And yours, let's just say it's beyond your imagination."

Diana fell back on the seat, she was mentally exhausted. Underworlds? Crazy grandpas? Her daughter's life? This has to be a bad dream. And Zach, how could she know he's telling the truth or even trust him? "If my parents are from mystical places called underworlds, where are you from? The good side? And why should I trust you?"

Of course it would be hard to trust anyone now, Zach understood why she was being suspicious "Am gonna tell you everything when we get there."

"Get where?"

"My work shop."

Diana stole a glance of her daughter then looked down at her blank phone. 'Nikki please be OK.'
