Chapter 54 - Business Partner
Boris' heart ached. He hated seeing Adia like this, every tear that ran down her face hurt him and worst of all, he didn't know how to stop them. "Come here," the words came out before he could stop them and he spread his arms wide.
"Boris…" Adia sobbed, she ran into his arms, taking comfort in his large body and using it like a teddy bear.
Boris wrapped his hands around her and patted her head, her small figure almost getting squished in his.
"What am I going to do Boris? I'm not ready for this," Adia sobbed.
Boris pulled her away and stared into her hazel eyes, wiping the tears under her eyes, "You know I don't like it when you cry, so don't ok?"
Adia let out a small smile as she let Boris wipe her face with his big, rough hands. Maybe she had been quick to judge… even though she hated it, she had to admit that he was right this time. Being mad was no excuse for her to bash someone she had no idea of and she had no right to condemn him since she had no facts to prove it. Yet she still wanted to scream at someone, to pass all the emotions that weighed down her mind and heart. She didn't want to feel them anymore, she didn't want to know them anymore… since when had things gotten this hard for her?
"How's mum doing?" Boris asked patting her head one more time before turning to the window Adia had looked though.
"Good," Adia sniffed, trying to collect herself before facing Bris again, "business is booming and there are people everywhere but… our money is being stolen immediately after we make it so we can't provide a steady supply of money for the people we took in and started to look after."
"How many people?" Boris asked.
"A few hundred," Adia replied, "we have other buildings scattered across the kingdom, but in this area specifically, a few hundred."
"And if we're talking total?
"Thousands," Adia sighed, thinking about the immense amount of people that were prob suffering right now was saddening. To think she thought of leading this area by herself without anyone's help was ridiculous. "And that's this area alone and a combination of adults and kids."
"How much money is needed? And how many more free buildings do you have?"
"Hmm?"
Boris turned to face Adia, "how do you feel about owning a few more buildings and leading some royals?"
Adia's eyes grew wide, "what?"

"Come in," Boris called out to the person behind the door while looking through a new pile of work about the war and preparations he was making for Saturday.
"News from our partner, Adia," said Grayson as he walked into the room with a letter in his hand.
"Place it on the table," Boris replied, not even bothering to look up from his papers.
Grayson approached the table slowly, trying to make his presence more prominent by taking a long stride to the table, and after running his hands off most of the furniture in the room, he finally reached the table and put it down.
"You may leave now," Boris muttered, flipping through another document.
Grayson clenched his jaw but turned around and leaned on the edge of the table, "nice place you got here."
Boris grabbed a folder and softly pushed Grayson's bottom off the table, "if you know that, then do me a favor and not staining the furniture will you?"
