Chapter 66 - Medic

He sat up and looked down at his hands, his dirty, rough, and unfamiliar hands. How many men had he slaughtered with this hand? How many times had he swung his sword without hesitation? How many times had he grinned when he glanced down at a bleeding corpse? 'War huh?' he thought to himself, clenching his hands, 'the weight of that sword is starting to get to me.'

"On the other hand…" Litian muttered, smiling slightly, "we also managed to save a lot of lives. Many at the edge of death were saved and are now being cared for. The advantage in numbers we had was also a great advantage."

"Right…" Dominic agreed, "the monthly supply of soldiers was probably what led us to victory. That and Feline's amazing ability to come up with good strategies that made good use of the things we had."

"It seemed like our enemy didn't have a stable background/backing to rely on, seeing as they only got reinforcements once every 2 months. It was bound to fire back at them," Litian smiled, "It sees the kingdom is doing fine, seeing as they are able to give us a remarkable amount of soldiers each month."

"Yea…" Dominic grinned. He knew he had left the kingdom in good hands, Boris was the right choice for someone to leave in charge. Dominic fell deep into his thoughts as it had been a while since he thought about Boris. He still couldn't believe he had met someone that reliable in the streets, yet alone someone so- Dominic immediately snapped out of his thoughts as a blush grew on his face.

He hid his face behind his hands as pictures of Boris flooded in. 'it's been a while…' he thought, 'Is he ok?'

"Your majesty?" Litian asked for the third time. Dominic had grown red soon after mentioning the kingdom. 'Is he sick?' she asked herself, cocking her head to get a better view of him. "Your majesty??" she asked again.

Dominic gave no reply. The face Boris had when he had smiled was so fresh in his mind, he was starting to get lost in it.

"Your Majesty?!" Litian called out, squatting down before her prince and gingerly pulling his hands from his face, "your majesty are you ok?"

Dominic locked eyes with Litian and would have jerked back a few feet if he had the energy to. "Y-yes?" he stuttered a reply.

"Your majesty, you haven't been replying to my calls for the past minutes now.." Litian reported worriedly, she raised her hand to his forehead and touched it lightly, "are you ok?"

The blush on Dominic's face grew even hotter as he brushed away Litian's hand in defense, "yes. Yes, I'm fine."

Litian hesitated, "you sure?"

"Yup!" Dominic reassured, forcing himself to push away the thoughts of Boris, "I'm fine."

"Hmm…" Litian reluctantly agreed, standing up slowly and stepping back from her prince.

"Ahem," Dominic coughed, a good attempt at clearing the mood, "is there something else you had to say to me?"

Litian stared for a moment as she tried to remember, " I don't think…" she began with uncertainty, before her eyes suddenly widened, "AH!"

"Yes?" Dominic prompted.

"We discovered a village near the fields we're in right now," Litian reported, "Feline advised that visiting it would be a good idea as our resources were now dwindling."

Dominic's head perked up, "a village? How far away from here is it?"

"An hour walk away," Litian replied promptly.

"That doesn't sound that bad…" Dominic thought out loud.

"Hmm," Litian replied.

"But there will still be issues when trying to reach there and threats to take into consideration wouldn't it?" Dominic asked, "we don't know if the village works with the people we fought with and they could be a pawn in their plan, plus we are in dire need of soldiers since the last supply from the kingdom was two-thirds medics.. We can't afford to go there without a plan."
