Pokemon The Force
Chapter 41 - 18: Arriving at the Celadon City
The day after, Soul finally arrived at Celadon City, where the 4th gym was. This time he would be using Abra since it was close to evolving, but hold it in.
By the time he arrived, it was afternoon. He didn't stop and admire the city around him and went straight to where the gym was.
Arriving there, he was greeted by a person, who was probably the judge of the gym.
???: Hello young man, are you perhaps here to challenge the gym leader?
Soul nodded and replies to the person.
Soul: Yes, I am. Is the gym leader here?
???: Ah yes. Why don't we go and greet her, before the challenge?
Soul followed the middle age man behind him. Walking around he could see that the theme inside the gym was done mostly with nature-related.
Not to mention the giant Gloom head over the gym…
Arriving at the battlefield, Soul could see a young woman sitting under the tree that gave her shadow from the sun.
This was the gym leader of Celadon City. From the theme and everything else he has seen, she must be a grass-type gym leader.
The middle-aged man bowed slightly at her as he says.
???: Miss Erika, there's someone who would've like to challenge you.
Opening her eyes, Erika looked behind the middle-age man and saw Soul. She nodded and smiled gently.
She then stood up and walked over to Soul with a smile.
Erika: Hello, my name is Erika. As you may know, I'm the gym leader of Celadon City. Shall' we start the battle?
Soul: Yes, it would be nice to end this battle as fast as possible.
True to be told, Soul haven't had anything to eat when he arrived at the Celadon City except for breakfast, which was several hours ago since he ate it.
Erika nodded as both of them took their position with the middle-age man stand to the side. As usual, Soul would be asked before he took the battle about his name and where he comes from.
Judge: To the left, we have Erika who is the gym leader of the Celadon Gym. And to the right, we have the challenger, Soul from Pallet Town.
In this match, both parties may use up to three Pokemons and only the challenger may switch their Pokemons during the battle.
Both Soul and Erika nodded at the rules as they took out a Pokeball and throws it up to the sky.
Erika: Go Weepinbell!
Soul: Abra, let's win this fight!
Both of the trainers Pokemons came out of their Pokeballs as Erika's gaze became sharp. This Pokemon was an Abra, a psychic-type Pokemon, who has a type advantage over her Pokemons!
Erika: Don't think because your Pokemon has a type advantage over mine would let you win. Weepinbell uses Razor Leaf!
Weepinbell sent out several sharp leaves, heading towards Soul's Abra who stood still as if the attack didn't bother it at all.
Abra teleported away as it kept using Calm Mind to increase its special attack and defense. Every time Erika tried to attack it, Abra would just teleport away and appeared back in the stage.
Getting frustrated she was about to give another attack, but Soul beat her in it when he said.
Soul: Abra uses Psychic.
Abra lifted it one hand as it begins to glow light-blue. The same happens to Weepinbell as its body begins to float.
Erika panicked as she quickly says.
Erika: Weepinbell uses Razor Leaf!
Before Weepinbell could manage to shoot out its attack at Abra, it was moved at a face pace and was hit by several places in its body.
Finally, the hit was shot down on the ground from high ground, when the dust was cleared it fainted.
Judge: Weepinbell is unable to battle! The winner is Abr-
The judge couldn't finish on what he was saying when Abra begins the body begins to glow after the attack, as its body became bigger and bigger. A spoon was held on its right hand.
Abra successfully evolved to Kadabra!
Soul smirked at this as Erika was shocked. Not only was this trainer Abra already strong, now that it has evolved to a Kadabra it would be harder form them to beat it!
Judge: Kadabra and the challenger won this match! Would the challenger like to change his Pokemon?
Soul: No thanks, I intend to fight only using Kadabra.
Erika returned the fainted Weepinbell as she quickly took out another Pokeball and throw it up as a Tangela came out of it.
Erika: Tangela, watch out, this might be the hardest battle we have faced, yet.
Tangela nodded and became serious. Soul looked over at Kadabra before focusing on his opponent in front of them.
Erika: Use Bind!
Tangela rushed at Soul's Kadabra with its blue tentacle in order to bind it down.
Kadabra teleported away in the last second and appeared not to close from Tangela and used Tri Attack to hit it.
Erika: Tangela, dodge it!
Tangela who didn't have time to dodge the incoming attack was hit by Kadabra Tri Attack, which was powered by Calm Mind, not to mention the growth power when Kadabra evolved.
It was sent flying to the ground, creating dust around it. When the dust disappears, Tangela fainted from one attack. One attack!
Erika, who was already nervous from the battle, became horrified by the display of power by the young trainer Kadabra.
Judge: Tangela is unable to battle! The winner of this match is the challenger and his Kadabra!
She returned Tangela as she held her last Pokeball, which also contain her strongest Pokemon.
She knew that she couldn't win this match, but she would want to try and at least defeat the trainer Kadabra.
Erika: Go Gloom!
The last Pokemon that stand in Soul way to get the gym badge. Let's see how strong her partner is.
Erika: I have to bet on this attack… Bloom uses Petal Dance!
Bloom begins to gather energy on top of it as it sent a wave of several pink petals.
Soul: Kadabra uses teleport and dodges it.
Kadabra teleported away from the attack, but the attack didn't stop and went after Kadabra as soon as it appeared on the battlefield again.
Soul: 'Tch, how troublesome.'
This was indeed troublesome for Soul and Kadabra. Even though his Kadabra is stronger and bigger than normal ones, it doesn't mean it unstoppable.
Even with its high special attack and speed, it didn't have much hp. Seeing that they couldn't run away from it, Soul got an idea.
Soul: Kadabra use Substitute, then Tri Attack at Bloom!
Kadabra sacrificed a part of it hp and create a decoy of itself. The decoy got hit by Bloom Petal Dance, but it didn't affect Soul's Kadabra as it sent a pyramid formed attack with Fire, Electric, and Ice on each of its edge.
Judge: Bloom is unable to battle! The winner is Kadabra and the challenger, Soul! The challenger have won the whole gym battle, congratulations!
Soul: Good job Kadabra. Rest now and get accustomed to your new body.
Kadabra nodded happily as Soul returned it back to its Pokeball and walked over to the middle of the battlefield.
Erika stood there with the judge, who was holding a small box with Rainbow Badge on it.
Erika took out the badge and handed it over to Soul.
Erika: Congrats on your winning. I must say your Pokemon power is truly frightening. I didn't even manage to get a hit.
Soul: Thank you for your compliment, but there are more mountains that I need to climb in the future.
With that, Soul finally got his 4th badge, as he walked out of the gym and to where the Pokecenter was and went to rent a room and went to sleep.
By the time he arrived, it was afternoon. He didn't stop and admire the city around him and went straight to where the gym was.
