Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 119: Difference between Skill and Martial art technique

Sending his message, Shane felt slightly frustrated, because he forced himself to remain kind, and selfless, without any signs of greed in order to maintain a certain image in front of Aisha and even her Valkyries.

Maintaining a good relationship with this large bunch of women could only be beneficial because all of them would advance to the Master stage by liquefying their mana with a mana purity of at least 80%, probably even more, because they still didn't enter the Intermediate dimensions!

As such, they either waited for everyone to reach the same purity before advancing to the Intermediate dimensions at once, or their plan was grander than what Shane initially expected.

Creating a whole unit with powerhouses would be beneficial not only for humanity's combat prowess but also in order to increase their strategic weapons, as humans that advanced with a high mana purity could also be seen as a devastating strategic resource to win a war.

In the end, even if Aisha and the Valkyries remained at the Basic Dimension for several dozen years, they would still be a huge pillar of support, because they were able to defeat almost every beast, as long as high purity basic races didn't dare to attack a shelter without any particular reason.

Their value was extremely high and having them by his side while excavating crystals would be extremely beneficial, even if his profits would dwindle by a large margin.

Still somewhat happy about this, Shane decided to change his attention to something else that was equally important.

With one week left before the expedition started, Shane wanted to build up a flawed Apprentice stage physique and at the same time increase his mana purity by a large margin, without neglecting to break through!

Thinking about this, the tranquil forest would most likely be the best place to do everything at once, and spending one single gold coin was enough to remain there for multiple days.

In order to supply his cultivation and body refining, he wanted to purchase cultivation resources at the school's shop, because he didn't have to pay a horrifying fee of 10% as was the case with the Primordial Shops!

This caused him to be ecstatic and his bright smile turned even more radiant thinking about the required resources to build up a flawed physique..

A [Tier-1 (Trash)] quality nutrition solution would be beneficial for him to build up his physique to the 3rd Apprentice stage, while its price was only set at 9 gold coins per vial.

How could he not be happy with that?

It might even be cheaper than refining his body from the 9th to the 10th Mortal stage.

With this estimation, Shane couldn't help but laugh out, still leaning on the tree, not minding anything around him, as he started to shop all kinds of cultivation resources in order to build up a strong Apprentice physique.

'This should be enough to attain a 6th Apprentice physique, right?' Shane estimated, as he saw the whole cart filled with stuff, and noticed the cost of his purchases totaling 837 gold coins.

His smile neither froze nor did he even bother about it, because he had more than enough funds left, while the resources he purchased were required to build up his strength, as fast as possible!

Mana stones [Tier-1]

[Trash] quality x25→125 gold coins

[Common] quality x25→175 gold coins

[Uncommon quality x25→225 gold coins

Nutrition solution [Tier-1]

[Trash] quality x8→72 gold coins

[Common] quality x8→96 gold coins

[Uncommon quality x8→144 gold coins

The price list was simple and Shane immediately paid the coins, without wasting too much time complaining about the prices, because he couldn't change them, even if he would have loved to do so.

As such, he decided to rather distract himself instead of sulking, as there was still some time left until he could take his resources from the warehouse.

Opening Shirai academy's forum through the system, Shane immediately searched for the section about the Dimension-spheres and once he found the column, he also saw what he had been looking for.

[Available skills and techniques]

Accessing this section, he immediately saw several dozen techniques in front of him, with roughly the same number for skills. Shane could decide whatever skill he wanted to learn with his whole day within the Dimension-spheres.

However, even if he had 24 hours, spending them all at once within the Dimension-sphere would most likely be counterproductive, because his brain wouldn't be able to work at full speed for the whole duration.

Due to this, Shane decided to divide his time in roughly six equal sections with four hours each, which should work out perfectly fine, even if it was not necessarily the case.

In the end, it was different with each individual and he only wanted to be sure, by telling himself to divide it if required.

Furthermore, by dividing the time within the DImension-sphere, he could practice what he learned in the first few hours, three days later in order to figure out if he made any mistakes and work on improving himself.

This way, his efficiency would most likely increase, and Shane searched through all kinds of martial art techniques and skills in order to make his first choice...

More than half an hour had passed yet he was still pondering on the skill he should choose when he received a notification from the warehouse that his package was ready.

Still mulling over the variety of skills to pick from, Shane walked straight to the warehouse, unintentionally ignoring everyone he met, as he raked his mind.

In the end, he was sure that he should choose the martial art technique [Slaughterer's path] which was a [Tier-1 (Gold)] technique, which was mainly based on hazardous and extremely lethal attacks and sequences, allowing the wielder to kill his foes mercilessly.

However, that was not everything Shane chose, because he still pondered between a certain skill and technique with the exact same name, grade and even quality

This skill/technique was called [Concealment] at the [Tier-1 (Bronze)] quality and grade.

The reason for Shane to be uncertain whether to pick the technique or skill was simple, yet extremely important to understand.

While a skill could be utilized with a single thought without the need to do anything else, a martial art technique could only be exerted by moving in the correct way and circulating the mana within one's body in the described way.

With this, everyone would think that it was the best option to simply learn the skill and only think about exerting the concealment technique that Shane wanted to choose.

However, what one had to know was a simple fact, that a skill required a lot more mana compared to a martial art technique because a skill would have to do everything alone to work out the desired result.

Weighing the advantages and disadvantages was difficult and normally depended on the situation.

Unfortunately, one couldn't simply switch in-between at a whim, and learning either of the techniques was already difficult enough.

As of now, it was more important for Shane to figure out a solution if he should choose the skill or technique in order to learn it within the Dimension-sphere, even if he had more than enough time to figure out what he wanted.

In the end, he could come to a conclusion after the expedition, thanks to him being protected by the Valkyries and even Aisha, while the [Slaughterer's path] technique was more important for now.

If he were to enter the radiant mountain ring dimension alone, Shane would prioritize learning the concealment skill or technique, in order to keep a low profile, without being detected, but fortunately enough it was not needed as of now.

Disregarding his small dilemma, he turned towards the colosseum, where the Dimension-spheres were situated.
