Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 314: Trials

Shane could only frown when he heard this before he ignored the Commander's words as he gave him the permission to look at his cultivation and body refinement status.

When Commander Nuyra saw this, he wanted to throw a fit and personally kick the youth, whose name was Shane Suro, out of the arena.

This was an important event after all!

Yet, after he saw the youth's cultivation rank, he couldn't help but laugh out loud and ask in a mocking tone, "Mana purity of 60%! Aren't you taking the trials to attend the basic race meeting for a joke??"

Shane had hoped that one of his aunts or uncles would be around as it would save him from the unnecessary hassle.

Unfortunately, this was not the case and he had to pass the hurdle of the troublesome commander in front of him.

"Sir, there is no threshold of the mana purity I have to attain. Please take a look at my body refinement chart before you arrive at a conclusion!"

Commander Nuyra was known for being ambitious and having a short temper, which was clearly noticeable. Thus, everyone's attention was drawn to Shane and the Commander, who had already threatened Shane to throw him out.

Aisha wanted to intervene, but Miriam held her back. Shaking her head, she added,

"Ice Princess, I can tell that you want to protect Shane, but your behavior is more like a mother trying to protect her newborn by all means. I doubt that this is your intention, and to be honest, it won't help Shane to grow and become independent….even if I can't see an issue there!"

After Miriam finished her short lecture, Aisha sat down reluctantly, while Frer, who hadn't activated her unique ability, was hiding behind Aisha, trying to prevent people from looking at her.

Meanwhile, Shane maintained his rather stubborn attitude in front of Commander Nuyra as he repeated his request to take a look at his body refinement segment.

"Why does your body refinement matter if your mana purity is extremely low in comparison...to...the others…"

The Commander was not sure if his eyes were deceiving him, so he rubbed them firmly.

However, Shane's body refinement statistics were still the same, and his eyes darted from Shane to the statistics in front of him.

He calmed down in an instant and cleared his throat before saying,

"You may pass…"

Shane smiled lightly before he thanked the Commander politely.

Afterward, he walked towards Aisha, Miriam, and Frer who were already waiting for him.

They were fully aware of why the commander didn't let Shane through in the beginning and knew that the only interesting statistics the commander could have found by looking solely at his cultivation was his body refinement.

"Luckily he didn't kick me out before taking a proper look at my body refinement statistics…" Shane said to the three girls before he sat on the large bank along with them

The small incident that had happened and the fact that Shane was on good terms with Miriam, Aisha, and Frer spoke volumes about Shane, and it was only when one of the other prodigies exclaimed that everyone nodded their head knowingly.

"Isn't that the youth who had humiliated the….what was their family's name once again? Either way, he is the youth, who had caused a ruckus at the mana awakening event in the Stella-mansion before he'd gathered  all prodigies, whether they were humans or the guests from the Elus and Forest Elven race!!!"

"Now that you say it, he looks familiar to me! Wasn't his photo posted on PrimWeb to figure out his background?"

Shane didn't listen to the gossip floating towards his ears, but he had thought that prodigies would be less likely to gossip.

The other girls weren't listening either as they had already grown accustomed to the gossip mongers wherever they went and had learned to ignore them.

Instead, they talked with each other, and it was only when Commander Nuyra closed the doors of the hall they were inside that everyone quieted down in an instant.

The trials were about to start and even Shane was curious to know how they would be conducted and what traits would be put to test.

However, what nobody had expected were Commander Nuyra's next words.

"The trials to attend the basic race gathering are simple! We have only 10 seats in total, which means that 1 out of 13 will be able to make it.

Thus, we will hold a knowledge exam that revolves around foreign races, etiquette, and several more subjects before the Top 40 will  spar against each other!"

Everyone was baffled that the knowledge exam would eliminate around 70% of all the present prodigies.

Most of the prodigies had focused on fighting instead of knowledge which everyone was fully aware of. Thus, the knowledge exam might even disqualify the strongest prodigies.

This was not exactly what Shane had expected from the government, but he could only shrug his shoulders.

The second round was more important for Shane than the first, and he was waiting for the commander to explain whether they were using a K.O system or expected to fight against everyone.

However, contrary to Shane's assumption that everyone would have to fight against each other, the commander simply added,

"Because we are living in dangerous times, one defeat is comparable to dying on the battlefield! The second round is a K.O round. That means, only two fights have to be fought to enter the top 10!

As for determining the leader of our race's young prodigies, that will be decided after the 10 seats have been selected!"

Shane could barely prevent shaking his head, thinking that one could be extremely fortunate or unfortunate during the K.O rounds.

Nevertheless, it was true that the same could happen on the battlefield, and that one's fortune might be the other party's misfortune!

Dying on the battlefield was much easier than defeating powerful opponents.

Thus, instead of complaining, Shane took a deep breath as he received a notification from the system.

[Basic race trials-Quiz sheet- has been sent to the host. Open?]

While some of the other prodigies were still complaining, Shane had already opened the test sheet.

A timer was initiated, and he noticed that the entire first trial would take 8 hours.

This was nauseating and Shane couldn't help but sigh deeply as he started answering the first among several hundred questions.

Shane's knowledge was profound, even more so after he had questioned the Elus race's Old Emperor for a considerable time.

Other than that, it had never been difficult for him to remember things he had once learned, and his only problem was to implement stuff he had learned, simply because he was clumsy and sometimes too stubborn to do so.

There were also scenarios in which he behaved like his true self instead of putting on a facade, despite knowing that acting politely would be the proper behavior.

With that in mind, Shane was able to answer most questions, and he silently thanked Aunt Kia for her tireless teachings during his childhood.

Eight hours passed by slowly, and his head was aching when the test sheet in front of him dispersed into thin air.

Commander Nuyra received the results of the knowledge exam only ten minutes later and skimming through the names, he nodded in satisfaction.

Everything was as expected, and the only thing that surprised him was to see an unexpected name appearing in the list of prodigies who had qualified for the second round!

Even though he was clearly astonished, there was no way that the system had made a mistake, and nobody had cheated in any way...the entire building construction was claimed by the government and would record every system utility after all!

Thus, commander Nuyra announced the names of those who had passed the first exam!"

"Aisha Hael, passed!"

"Frer, passed!"

"Miriam Phe, passed!"

….

..

..

.

"Shane Suro,...passed"
