Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 343: Support

As they arrived inside the city, called Deux, Shane and Ilya couldn't help but sigh.

Compared to the previous grandeur of the Arj city, Deux looked shabby as if it was in need of a complete renovation.

Not a single building seemed to be in a good condition, and Shane was curious about what had happened.

"Deux looks like this because we barely had time to restore a part of it after the Ara race had attacked us.

I don't know if this information is new or not, but Arj city was the place of baptism for the Ara race. It is good if your team has destroyed it, but I hope the warehouse with our brethren's blood is intact.

Otherwise, we will have to face another huge tidal wave of devilish Aras that will annihilate us…"

Shane looked at the young scout who had brought them back.

'Warehouse? I haven't seen something like that in the city…'

This was suspicious and caused Shane to think about the entire infrastructure of Arj. However, even after thinking about it intently, there was nothing in his memory that resembled a warehouse.

The only time he had seen the demon blood was inside the cathedral they had destroyed!

'Don't tell me….!'

His eyes widened in shock, and Shane blurted out.

"If the Ara race were to attack, it would have to trample down this city first, right? There are no other cities that are close to the borders? What about towns or small villages?"

Because there was a trace of urgency in his voice, the demon scout noticed that something was off. Thus he answered honestly.

"Deux is the closest to both borders. There are a few villages nearby, and two towns, but other than that, there is not much.

We try to stay further away from the borders since the beginning. There are many prejudices we have to face. And that is solely because of our innate high physical and mana resistance!"

Shane felt as if the demon scout had punched him twice. First because they might have caused the annihilation of several villages, towns, and Deux with the destruction of the cathedral, and also because of the fact that Shane was also prejudiced in the beginning.

Sighing, he could barely refrain from lamenting as he replied,

"Please tell your city lord that he should issue a warning about a possible invasion of the Ara race...I'm not sure if my gut feeling is correct, but I have studied the infrastructure of Arj, and there was no warehouse. I think the cathedral had a separate warehouse inside it...and with the destruction of the cathedral, it might have been destroyed as well!"

Without wasting any time, the demon scout rushed ahead after he heard Shane's words.

He didn't even have to ponder whether the mysterious adventurer was telling the truth or not. The possibility of another invasion was enough for him to act.

Shane and Ilya followed him through the narrow alleys while Umbra and Cosmo had already entered the Hidden Paradise.

The demon scout that had left them had entered one of the only large building complexes that seemed to have been renovated, as both Shane and Ilya were held back.

They didn't try to infiltrate the building or be reckless.

Instead, they waited patiently, while trying to make sense of what was happening.

With the destruction of the entire warehouse, the demon blood addict Ara race would be forced to attack the Karn kingdom.

However, rather than establishing a small army, it was more likely that there would be a large-scale attack.

Shane was not sure if Arj's cathedral was the only one, and the only place for the demon blood to be stored, but it was logically unlikely.

While the cathedral might have been the only one to exist, it was impossible to supply the entire kingdom with just one warehouse that stored blood.

There were not enough merchants that distributed the blood throughout the kingdom either.

As such, there had to be small storages for the demon blood all over the kingdoms.

With that in mind, the possibility of an all-out war was almost negligible.

The kingdoms inside the third floor were fortunately small in comparison to those outside the dungeon!

Outside, kingdoms could have conquered entire planets and a population of billions after all!

To put it simply, Shane could easily tell that the third floor was similar to the low population during the middle ages era on earth.

His memories about his past life were slowly vanishing, but a few things were still very clear in his mind.

Nevertheless, it was good to know that the entire kingdom out of the three kingdoms they had seen had a population of around one to two million!

With that in mind, Shane doubted that the Ara race's army was able to reach anything near 300,000 soldiers!

They might take inexperienced soldiers with them, but those were not something anyone should fear.

Thinking about a possible large-scale war, Shane couldn't help but look at the crumbling walls around Deux and feel worried.

"Without a proper wall to defend against an army, and the ability to attack over a long-range, the Karn kingdom is doomed!"

Shaking his head, Shane tried to evaluate the situation of the Karn kingdom and city.

Unfortunately, it didn't look that good and it was only when Shane and Ilya were called inside by the city lord's secretary that he diverted his attention.

He was already accustomed to facing different races since the basic race gathering. However, demons were a different matter because some of them still had old injuries where organs were spilling out, or deep gashes revealed, making it difficult to maintain a straight face while interacting with them.

Thus, he tried to focus on the unscathed demons and was relieved to know that the city lord was, fortunately, one of them.

He was a human-like demon with two black horns protruding out of the sides of his head.

His skin was pitch-black like every demon, and his pupils were dark-purple.

When he saw Shane and Ilya, he lifted his eyebrow only to say,

"So you guys have destroyed the cathedral. I would like to thank you, but unfortunately, it looks like this has caused us even more problems than we already had! The intention might have been good, but the entire Karn kingdom might fall because of you guys!!"

The city lord was neither enraged nor calm, his emotions were masked and Shane was unable to tell how he was feeling.

Thus he confidently replied,

"That's not necessarily the case, city lord!"

Looking at Shane with a slight tinge of interest, the city lord told him to continue.

"This might sound sudden, or even planned, but I can provide large-scale ballistae and a large number of mana-sphere crossbows. If we were to talk about the crumbling wall, I have the means to repair it as well…"

The city lord eyed Shane suspiciously after hearing him, not sure whether the young man was on their side or siding with the Ara race, trying to make a profit out of their desperation.

However, before the city lord could say anything, Shane added

"I doubt that the Karn kingdom has a choice right now, does it? If the Ara race is attacking a large scale, do you think Deux's shabby walls are going to withstand it? I don't think so. Furthermore, I haven't seen a single guard walking around with a bow, let alone a crossbow.

I'm only stating what I can do to make up for our mistake, nothing more or less!"
