Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 388: 30 seconds

While Shane and Megane had already finished their respective battle, ginormous energy currents had been absorbed by a race that was well known for their internal force.

However, what nobody had expected to happen was that the being, which was still in a fight with a terrifying Nightmare Drake, had retorted to detonating itself in order to defeat the Drake!

This had caused a devastating explosion, shattering the arena, and creating a shockwave that flung Shane several meters away.

He landed right in front of Megane, but Shane couldn't care less about that right now.

His eyes were trained on the spot at which the explosion had occurred.

Nothing was left except rubble and debris, and there was no sign of the two combatants that had fought against each other moments ago.

It was only when the system labeled both as dead that the three remaining participants knew that both, the Nightmare Drake and the being of the Sailn race had died.

This meant that the last three participants were the guaranteed top three winners of the Primordial tournament, irrespective of the outcome of their next fights.

As long as they survived, they were eligible to be rewarded fate-changing goods originating from the System!

Other than Megane and Shane, the third winner was the variant six-headed snake with three affinities and regeneration ability.

This regeneration ability was much weaker than the Migrd's, but the snake's affinities were extremely powerful.

If Shane had to compare the snake to a beast from his past life, a degenerated Hydra would be the closest possible match.

However, his mind was not trained on the six-headed snake, but on the explosion and the simple question, everyone would have asked in his stead.

'Why did the Sailn gather his internal force and mana to detonate itself?'

Suicide was not helpful if one couldn't win the Primordial tournament! Shane was unable to figure out a reason for the Sailn to do something so stupidious!

If he had known that the Nightmare Drake was the culprit behind the annihilation of one of the biggest shelters in which the Sailn race had lived, only to emerge on one of their planets to continue with its carnage, Shane's thoughts would be different!

The Nightmare Drake had a unique ability with which it could merge with the darkness, making it intractable.

It could also move around unhindered, which the Nightmare Drake had used to hunt the younger generation of the Sailn race!

Due to the faint light, the Sailn race's prodigy had released in order to prevent shadows from emerging on the ground, it had sacrificed its life to prevent its arch-enemy to continue with the terrific carnage.

Even their race's higher-ups had been powerless because they couldn't light up the entire planet that was veiled in utter darkness.

In the end, they had reached a point at which they wanted to abandon the whole planet, just to stop the Nightmare Drake's attacks!

Shane was unaware of all of this, which was the reason for his dumbfoundedness.

Megane didn't care about who would be her next opponent and it was only the six-headed snake who was hoping to fight against Shane or have a free round in its next fight.

Because there were only three opponents, one participant wouldn't have to fight, and Shane was the easier opponent, as opposed to Megane.

Thus, when the fights had ended, and the next round's opponents matched, the six-headed snake hissed out in frustration, while Shane could only sigh in relief.

[Megane(Dark Ice Elf)] versus [(Variant) Six-headed snake]

[Shane(Human)]  versus [/ / / / / / / /]

Even though Shane didn't have an opponent which allowed him to enter the finale without a fight, he couldn't help but feel a little bit disappointed.

Somehow, he would have liked to fight the Six-headed snake, or even Megane, despite the slight fear he had of her.

As he didn't have to fight, Shane could recuperate from the injuries he had obtained, while making up his mind on how he could fight Megane in the finale.

It was obvious that the six-headed snake was weaker despite its variation evolution, and it was aware of this fact as well.

Owing to that, Shane doubted that the fight would take long, and he assumed the snake that had reached an extremely high quality, to have gained some intelligence.

Thus, he expected the six-headed snake to give up once it noticed that there was no way for it to win the fight.

With that in mind, Shane decided to focus on thinking of ways on how he could fight against Megane, for at least some time, without sacrificing his life needlessly.

He just wanted to test out how much the difference in their strength was before focusing on his perfect foundation.

Shane knew that he was still lacking strength, but that was not something he could magically change in the next few days.

As such, he needed a plan on how to utilize every single trick up his sleeve to reach his highest strength in the shortest amount of time, while maintaining it for as long as possible.

This was easier said than done, and four days passed in the blink of an eye.

The fight of the six-headed snake against Megane started, and as Shane had already assumed the six-headed snake had used common sense which allowed it to swallow its pride in order to survive and win.

However, what Shane hadn't expected was that the six-headed snake would try to leave the arena the moment the fight had started.

Even more surprising was that four of the six-headed snake's heads had been obliterated by ridiculously fast thunderbolts that had shot out of Megane's fingers.

The thunder bolts' strength was ridiculously high, while their speed was likely to be even higher than that of the winged lightning cheetah.

All color drained of his face at that sight, and even though the snake survived with its heads slowly beginning to heal, terror swept through it.

The decision it had taken was the best it could have ever arrived at, even if it would only get the third place reward!

Shane couldn't help but look at Megane, who walked down the arena as if nothing had happened.

Just as she walked past him, he couldn't help but feel odd as he opened his mouth to voice out a doubt that had been troubling him.

"You don't really want to kill everyone, right?"

There was an infinitely small glint of reluctance Shane noticed within her eyes, which had caused him to ask that question.

Unfortunately, as expected there was no answer and she continued to walk as if she hadn't heard him at all.

Somehow, Shane couldn't help but feel disappointed because he had hoped that she was not a marionette that killed mindlessly.

This was because he saw himself in her, the Shane who had been under his father's thumb and had become a mindless assassin had he not escaped his father's oppressive behavior.

However, just at this moment, he noticed that her speed had slowed down by a small margin. It would have gone unnoticed if Shane hadn't paid attention to Megane at that exact moment!

'Maybe…?'

There was no particular reason for him to be happy, but Shane couldn't help but feel a little bit joyous as the excitement to fight Megane spread through his body.

The fear of dying at her hands dispersed.

She could very well end his life but instead of worrying about this possibility, Shane decided to give his best.

In the worst-case scenario, he was confident to survive one lethal attack while using Cosmo to teleport him out of the arena.

Cosmo had used the last few days to perfect the timing at which he could emerge behind Shane and use the [Space Jump] ability.

If nothing went wrong, it would only take a fraction of a second, which was everything Shane needed to know!

'I only want half a minute!!!'
