Queen Of Adis

Haru blinked her eyes and opened her mouth to retort but she ended up closing it again as her mind went blank for a moment. When she recovered, she glanced at Adis then down to her belly with eyes full of anticipation and worry.

"Adis?" She called out but she didn't know what to say.

Twins?! Is that even possible? One demon child was already too much of a risk to her life. Would she be able to survive after childbirth? Was she providing enough nutrition for two babies?

Her heart and mind were now in overdrive.

Then, she felt her husband touched her abdomen and kissed the side of her head, and that was all she needed to soothe the anxiety that was slowly gnawing her.

When she sighed and took solace from his touch, Adis made her look at him and enveloped her small face in his grasp.

He gave her a bright smile as he answered Fenghuang. "We honestly didn't think of that and we haven't talked to Frost about such possibility. However, whether it's just one, twins or triplets, as long as both my wife and child will be healthy and safe, then that's all that matters." He spoke softly without taking his eyes off of his beautiful wife.

Camus and Triton just nodded their heads in agreement but their eyes sparkled in happiness at the idea that Haru might be carrying more than just one baby in her w.o.m.b.

Fenghuang chuckled at how the King and Queen of Umbra were still acting like newlyweds after being married for almost two years now. Instead of waning, their feelings seemed to blaze even more when faced with difficulties. Such a power couple, indeed.

She approached the kind queen and plucked a single feather from her wings. Then she offered it to Haru as a gift. "Your Majesty, I haven't given you a present for your pregnancy. Since I heard what happened to you for these past few days, I hope this sacred feather will be of help to you someday. Please do accept this humble tribute of mine, my Queen."

Haru smiled and gripped the fiery feather tightly to her c.h.e.s.t. "I know it will, Fenghuang. Thank you."

At first, Camus and Triton would like to object as Haru wasn't in the right condition to do such a dangerous mission; however, they also knew the impact it would cause to the present time if they couldn't stop their enemies from altering the past.

Triton looked out the window as his face became ferocious. He clenched his fists and spoke through gritted teeth. "Those same bastards again! Until now, my pride as a warrior is killing me for being knocked down by those sons-of-bitches."

He brought his attention back to them as he enumerated his suggestions. "I shall talk to Graves about the security around the palace. It must be tripled especially in times that Adis is also asleep. Prevent information leakage, else the citizens will be in pandemonium and the nobility will take advantage of the situation to oust you.

"Lastly..." he trailed off as his eyes glowed in pure hatred, ready to wage a war at the drop of a hat. "I want to lead this attack towards the Blood Hounds estate. This great general must settle an old score once and for all."

"Did you listen carefully to Elior's teaching? Do you have everything you need for tomorrow? What help do you need from me?"

After finalizing their plans with their comrades, the love birds decided to return to their chamber for some privacy. They were currently standing at the balcony and enjoying each other's embrace while watching the transition of colors in the sky as the sun retired for the day and gave way to the serene beauty of the moon and the stars.

However, Haru creased her eyebrows when her idiot mate ruined the romantic atmosphere by bombarding her with questions. She could understand why her King was being restless, though, as this time travel would be entirely different from the first one she had.

But, none of them can go back and hide anymore. It's now or never!

She clicked her tongue and flicked his forehead. "Tsk! Relax, okay? Everything will be fine. Besides, I promised to Frost that we'll be back to replenish our energy and feed our little devil."

"Fine. If worst comes to worst, at least we are still together, right?" Adis poorly quipped.

She scoffed in disbelief. "As if the formidable King of Umbra will even let 'worst' come before him. I have yet to see someone who can stop you once you're decided to destroy anyone."

He chuckled at her witty remark then gently dragged her back to their bedchamber. He guided her to stand up in front of the mirror and made her watch her own reflection as he imprisoned her eyes with his intense gaze.

"There! You are now looking at the only person who can stop me from doing anything. If she would also d.e.s.i.r.e for me to stop breathing, I'd gladly do so without any question," he whispered right next to her ear.

Haru playfully wrinkled her nose, desperately trying to hide the sweet blush on her cheeks and ears. "Your Majesty, your Queen consort is already pregnant. What's the point of showering me with flatteries?"

Adis just took her right hand and lead her to a slow twirl under his arm before coaxing her body to sway in a slow dance with a melody that only their hearts could hear.

"It's because you are pregnant, all the more reason for me to shower you with my love. And even after years will pass, I will certainly love you until forevermore." He stopped dancing and tightened his embrace to her body as he rested his forehead against hers.

"Did you already forget the vow we made? I will love and cherish you, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, and not even death could tear us apart."
