Queen Of Adis
Chapter 123 - Troublesome
*Adis had heard enough and dragged *Haru back to the spring villa before the enemy could feel their presence again. As soon as they passed through the enormous double doors, he took his wife to the empty guest chamber.
"*Haru, have a rest for a bit. We will leave in four hours," he commanded and kissed her forehead. "And please do me a favor, love. DO NOT LEAVE this room, you hear me?" He put emphasis on every word with great fervor.
*Haru fell silent for a brief moment then nodded her head and smiled softly. "Okay. Please take care, alright?"
His eyes softened at her usual reaction. He couldn't help himself and suddenly pinched her cheeks. "You never changed. You still do things I ask you to do without even questioning me. Just like what you promised in the spring of Isis."
"I am your wife. I should be the first person to believe you. Besides, I know you will spill it out eventually. I just have to be patient about it," she confidently declared.
He grinned at her cheekiness and helplessly shook his head. "Damn, you really know how to subdue me. Well, that's the reason why I keep falling in love with you every single day. Now, sleep!"
She squeaked when he suddenly spanked her b.u.t.t.o.c.k.s. She just pouted her lips and stood on her tippy toes to kiss him on the lips before obediently did what she was told.
The golden wisps came out from their hiding place and chased after him. Since he knew that the place was safe, he allowed them to follow him to his destination.
As soon as he reached the master's bedroom, he went straight to the study chamber where he had an unusual chess game with his past self. His eyes scanned the place and when he saw the small sacred bell on top of the bookshelf, he reached out for it.
As he examined the trinket, it gave out a faint sound. But before he could completely rang the bell, a raspy and masculine voice snarled at him.
"Don't you dare! If my wife wakes up because of the noise, I swear I will call an exorcist to drive you out." [Adis] berated him while wearing his black robe.
"Don't be stupid, I'm just messing with you. I knew I already got your attention as soon as I came in with my unrestraint dark aura," he uttered despite knowing that the man won't be able to hear it.
[Adis] sighed and raked his fingers through his hair. "What do you want now? I thought we'll meet again in three days at the knighthood ceremony?"
"Change of plans," *Adis continued and approached the crystal chessboard. He moved the two Rooks in the middle and surrounded it with pawns and knights.
"You want me to heighten the security of the villa and the palace? But why?" [Adis] furrowed his brows in wonder.
"..."
When he didn't hear any response, he nodded in understanding. He should have known that the interaction this time would be more difficult than earlier, especially when he could feel the urgency in the air.
As he saw the bishop moved forward, he raised an eyebrow and looked at the space in front, imagining that he could see his future self standing there.
"You want me to call Elior?" The piece was tapped twice as confirmation to his assumption. "Okay, I'll send someone to bring him here before lunch--"
CRASH!
Before he could finish his statement, another piece shattered in the hands of an idiot demon king. He shook his head in exasperation and just cursed under his breath.
"Fang, haul your a.s.s here at once!" He called out, venting his frustration to the poor servant.
"I am ready to receive your command, Your Majesty," Fang answered while wondering why his King was grumpy this early in the morning. When he saw the shattered crystal pieces on the floor, he surmised that the king must be just s.e.x.u.a.lly frustrated and spent sleepless night outside of the love nest.
"Bring the pope here immediately," [Adis] barked his order without looking at his aide.
Fang looked appalled by the command and glanced outside the window. It was still a bit dark and the sun was yet to show its full glory. "But Your Majesty, with all due respect, I think it's still too early to wake up His Holiness at this hour. Perhaps, we should give it a couple of hours--"
"This king doesn't give a damn to such trivial things. Go now and tell him that a vengeful ghost is bothering me and wishes to speak to him at once."
Fang looked around the study to see the ghost his master was referring but he was unable to see one. Was it just a metaphorical statement?
Nevertheless, he bowed in agreement, "It shall be done according to your d.e.s.i.r.e, Your Majesty. Please excuse me." With that, the loyal aide disappeared again in the shadows.
[Adis] stood up from his seat and took the sacred bell with him. "It will be troublesome if my wife meets Elior. Let us talk somewhere else."
He walked out of the room and went to the bas.e.m.e.nt.
It was spacious and clean but too gloomy for his wife's taste; hence, he's now using it as his extra office in case he needed to pull an all-nighter and he didn't want to disturb his wife's rest. The place was complete with furnishings such as chairs, office table, sofa, and even a bed.
The room became filled with orange warm light when [Adis] lit up the lamp beside the entrance. Subsequently, both the exceptional gentlemen stiffened at the unexpected spectacle inside.
There, on top of his bed, a man was sleeping soundly while hugging a big pillow to his c.h.e.s.t. A real fat, striped cat was comfortably lying on top of the snoring man's face which would make anyone wonder how he could still live and not suffocate from the lack of air.
Most importantly, [Adis] was irked that someone was sleeping on his bed aside from his beloved. He made a mental note to throw the sullied bed away as soon as possible.
"Ahhh!"
Elior jolted up from his sweet slumber when Vesta screeched and accidentally scratched his face from the sudden disturbance.
When he saw who was the perpetrator and his seething demon eyes, he scratched the back of his head and let out an awkward laugh. "Ahaha, so it was just you, arrogant brat. You should learn how to wake up your elderly properly."
When [Adis] opened his mouth to scold him, Elior beat him to it. "Ah, what took you so long? I've been waiting for you here throughout the night. I saw in my vision that you will request for my audience, so I just came in advance but accidentally fell asleep."
"For someone who is wearing pajamas with cat prints on it, you sure are not prepared for any sleepover," *Adis sarcastically commented.
Elior didn't hear the biting remark as he yawned and stretched his arms. But he instantly froze when he finally saw the dark ghost standing on the side. "Oh dear, how troublesome!"
"*Haru, have a rest for a bit. We will leave in four hours," he commanded and kissed her forehead. "And please do me a favor, love. DO NOT LEAVE this room, you hear me?" He put emphasis on every word with great fervor.
