Queen Of Adis

Chapter 133 - Well-behaved

After barking his secret but urgent orders to his Grim Reapers, ghosts spies and demon soldiers, Adis was now on his way back to his bedchamber. He needed to leave as he would like to personally look for Elior, but first, he must tell his maiden that he might not return for the night, else he would get another beating from her.

He shook his head when he realized that the life of a whipped lover was indeed tough.

His strides subsequently slowed down upon the sight of a stern-looking, yet handsome man awkwardly guarding outside of his bedchamber like a log.

Even with the man's exceptional skills, he was never allowed to be a grim reaper or a spy; with golden demon eyes that were sharp like a hawk, well-defined nose and jaws, and thin lips that are always pressed together, not to mention his towering height and muscular frame, he would always stick like a sore thumb even at a distance.

Clad in his noble armor and with his dark aura seeping out of control from his body, the palace guards next to the indifferent knight were trembling in both fear and amazement.

Dark shadows suddenly engulfed Adis' entire body as he decided to use his dark magic to teleport. His lips curved upward in amus.e.m.e.nt when the knight's shoulders tensed and his senses heightened, gesturing that he felt his presence even when he masked his true power and footsteps.

Just as expected to the young man he personally trained.

"At ease," he declared when he finally appeared in front of knight in his full glory, rendering the palace guards around to slump on the ground in shock.

Azrael's stiff profile instantly softened and his eyes shone brightly like a kid who saw his father after a long while. "Your Majesty, you're back!"

He blinked when he realized that he acted casually in front of the king. He immediately knelt down to pay his respect and gave his formal greetings. "Your Majesty, Her Grace, Lady Haru is waiting for you inside."

"Your Majesty?" Adis drawled to tease the man. "Whatever happened to the boy who brazenly spouts 'bully big brother' and 'sadistic maniac king' while jumping around like a stupid monkey?"

The knight awkwardly brushed his index finger on his nose while a faint tinge of blush shaded his cheeks. "That boy has already grown into an outstanding knight, Your Majesty. He's now aware of the gravity of his actions and learned some new words such as 'manners.'"

He raised an eyebrow and tilted his head, "I am torn between liking the discipline that was instilled in you from your training or hating it as it made you stiff and boring."

"Your Majesty, with all due respect, but I got my non-existent humor from you."

Adis' laughter reverberated throughout the hall. He nodded in approval, "I'm glad to know that you haven't lost that cheeky tongue of yours." Then his face turned serious but his eyes glowed with pride. "I have high hopes for you, Azrael. Don't let me down."

Azrael deeply bowed in response. "Thank you for entrusting the future queen to me. I shall give my everything, including my life, to keep her safe."

He ruffled the young knight's dark hair and smiled softly. "I don't need your life, I just need her safe. I need both of you safe," he emphasized his last statement as he finally opened the doors of his bedchamber.

Before the doors closed behind him, he turned around to give the knight a fair warning. "Ah, just so you know, the woman you will be looking after isn't just an ordinary lady. She's a certified troublemaker and a royal pain in the a.s.s. So..." he trailed off and mischievously winked at him. "Good luck, sir knight!"

As if the king could scare him with such an empty threat.

When he turned around, he saw the palace guards looked at him with a sympathetic gaze. They shook their heads as they could only pray for his poor soul.

One concern guard leaned to his side and whispered, "Sir knight, you better start flexing as a powerful storm is about to blow you away."

He creased his brows as he didn't get what he meant. But to his utter surprise, all the guards started to count down.

As though the palace was struck with a tempest, the doors that were just recently closed, unceremoniously burst open again and an unbridled wind suddenly came out and passed by him like a speeding bullet.

"I'll be home at sunset. I'll buy souvenirs for you. You take care. I love you!" An ethereal beauty hollered as she ran out of the chamber in haste.

"W-what the f.u.c.k?" Azrael cursed under his breath after he literally ate the future queen's dust.

"Take her to the market or to places that are filled with colors and performances. That way, she will stay out of trouble and it will give you peace before she gets bored again and find another trouble for you and for herself," came the most useless advice he ever heard from the most doting lover he had the misfortune to meet.

Looking completely aghast, he glanced at the Demon King who was nonchalantly watching his woman ran out like a mad bull. "Why does it sound that I'll be babysitting? Whatever happened to the sweet, innocent, and well-behaved maiden I just met?"

Adis tilted his head in p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, enjoying the knight's shock expression as if he would suffer a heart attack at any moment. "Unfortunately for you, she's anything but well-behaved. That is a foreign word Fang tried to add in her vocabulary only to fail miserably." He chortled while his eyes shone brightly as if it was something to boast about. "Your queen is already a distance away. You better start scrambling lest you will lose to her. You see, she's quite a fast white rabbit, personally trained by yours truly."

With that, the doors were shut closed in front of him for the nth time, leaving him sighing and cursing before he helplessly disappeared into thin air.
