Quest Maker of Soul Land

Chapter 235: First Step to Control

Yue Guan and Gui Mei looked at Bibi Dong with shocked expressions. They had woken up once Ja Sun wanted them awake. Right now, the two Titled Douluos felt various emotions but the most prominent of them was greed. Despite knowing this, Bibi Dong was more than confident in having this meeting alone. It wasn't due to a lack of trust in her team. Heck, now that she knew her strength came from the beast Ja Sun defeated in the first place, Bibi Dong wasn't sure if she is on the same level as he is. But she believed that devouring the cultivation of the 100000-year-old Death Spider Emperor will play a role in helping her tip the scale.

Gui Mei and Yue Guan observed Bibi Dong seriously. From rank 70 to 78! Their gazes then landed on the small, dot-sized mark of a purple web that would shift to viridian green at times signifying that this particular aspect of her breakthrough was something Bibi Dong was still having trouble controlling. This was ironic since this tattoo was the accumulation and result of her control— something she so desperately desired as many of them had already attained it.

Her realm of self!

Qian Daoliu had made it clear that talented individuals in this regard, if truly focused on it, will achieve their realm of self before but the training will bear its fruit at the breakthrough of spirit sage regardless.

Not only that, breaking through spirit sage and attaining a spirit core had drastically increased the quality of her domain and the absorption of the two arm spirit bones pushed her to rank 78 in one swoop and again strengthened not only her body but also her domain.

This Death Spider Emperor was truly a fortune befitting Bibi Dong. Should Gui Mei and Yue Guan know that Bibi Dong has two crimson level spirit bones, they would surely go green with envy. But Bibi Dong wouldn't reveal it since she could see the two Titled Douluos already having trouble keeping their expressions in check.

"Elders," she narrowed her eyes. Positions were shifted as she sat behind the desk under a large, decorated tent while the two Titled Douluo stood in front of her, "I believe that it is a joyous occasion that I could absorb the spirit ring of a 100000-year-old beast and take its spirit bone. It's quite compatible with me. But the looks on your faces seem to be saying something entirely different."

Bibi Dong ordinarily wouldn't expose such agendas but now was the time to make a definitive statement and use the momentum of her achievement to solidify her role amongst the upper management of the Spirit City.

As she spoke, her spirit rings slowly materialized behind her, overlaying on one another. Yellow, Yellow, Purple, Purple, Black, Black.

Suddenly, the pressure from Bibi Dong's body changed. It was monumental enough to make the two Titled Douluo step back with a pale expression as a look of pure fright appeared on their faces once the crimson ring as if bathing in blood appeared behind Bibi Dong. The entire tent was dyed in crimson and Bibi Dong continued to observe the duo.

"I have felt your care since Master brought me up. The two of you nurtured me," She spoke slowly. Yet, the meaning of her words was different. It was a question.

Why would the two have any thoughts remotely antagonizing towards her?

Qian Xunji's disappearance may not have turned the two Titled Douluos disloyal but may have shifted their focus to more individualistic growth.

"I think it's a misunderstanding," Gui Mei broke the silence as he nodded, "The two of us fell victim to a strange spirit beast's strength and your team protected us while also defeating a 100000-year-old beast. I'm sure that the Elders of Spirit Hall and the Elder's Hall will be most pleased by your progress."

"I see," Bibi Dong still kept her spirit rings up for the display and the skills of her spirit bones were on standby. "Once I smoothen things out with my team and the Giant's Fortress, I would be returning to the Spirit City to form a team of elites that help me hunt spirit rings. But now that I have tasted this strength, I cannot go back.

Yet, I only have four slots of body parts remaining for spirit bones while... the demand for spirit rings is greater than that. Elders, please, accept my humble request to assist me when the time comes. Those spirit bones will be of great value to you."

Yue Guan and Gui Mei looked at each other and then nodded simultaneously.

This was their way back. Bibi Dong exposed them to let them know their actions didn't go unnoticed while paving a way back through benefits to having Two Titled Douluos in her faction even if it's only in name.

Tang Peng has already shown how great of an effect a projected image of a situation has in politics now that he betrothed Tang Yuehua to Ja Sun. Bibi Dong could make use of such a method, too.

With their tasks done, the Two Titled Douluos left quickly and there was a reason for that. Their pleased expressions soon crumbled as gloom covered their faces once they were far away with the remaining knights.

"Do you think it's a coincidence?" Yue Guan communicated with Gui Mei using a compressed voice.

"That we were suddenly sent to coma and the moment we wake up, Bibi Dong has absorbed not only the spirit ring but also the spirit bone? No, I do not. It's a silent threat. There's someone backing Bibi Dong who can easily take us out... had we attacked Bibi Dong out of greed..."

Gui Mei sighed softly.

"Do you think... that the Supreme Pontiff has returned?" Yue Guan's heart skipped a beat. If this was the case then the two may have been killed right then and there.

"I don't know." Gui Mei replied, "But we better not overstep our boundaries for the time being and inform about Bibi Dong's breakthrough only to the Elder's Hall and other Elders like us. If Master Xunji has returned then all this might just be a test. After all... his strength should allow him to enter the Elder's Hall now and a new successor is needed."

Yue Guan's expression turned heavy, too, as he realized how close their actions were in touching some of the nerves.

---

As Ja Sun had expected, their trip back to the Giant's Fortress didn't give him any rest. Ah Yin wanted to have her own breakthrough so the two needed to leave again. The return journey was only 3 days long but Oscar and Yuehua both managed a breakthrough in their ranks. Of them all, Ja Sun was now thinking if he should just try and provide Yuehua a spirit soul.

Of them all, Yuehua's spirit skill relied more on the quality of the spirit ring. If her spirit rings can grow in age, then surely, her ability to nullify any attack would increase and she would be able to assist for a longer duration.

Ja Sun wouldn't have thought of it if not for having Hu Lana get a spirit soul since a Charm Queen has a definite evolution to a Charm Mistress once it hits the rank of 100000 years in cultivation.

But if her strange martial soul could even support a spirit soul was something Ja Sun had to check.

On the other hand, news of Bibi Dong's miraculous breakthrough spread amongst the upper tier of the spirit city, bringing them a great shock even within the Elder's Hall.

Out of all the Titled Douluos, only Qian Daoliu claimed a 100000-year-old spirit ring. Not even his son could gain the same accomplishment. This only meant one thing.

Bibi Dong's play at the seat was solidified and every elder waited for her to reach the ranks of a Titled Douluo which shouldn't be that far since her cultivation was already at the rank of 78!

If she manages another miraculous breakthrough during rank 80, she may just become the youngest Titled Douluo under the age of 30!

Once the team settled in the Giant's Fortress, they didn't resume their ordinary lifestyles. Instead, Bibi Dong made sure to increase their defenses and gave Xie Xan and Hu Lana more free time so that at least one of them could be with Xie Yue for the time being.

Bibi Dong's act had certainly ruffled a few inconsiderate feathers and she would need to prepare for any assassination or other political threats. Ja Sun's and Ah Yin's departure would weaken the overall strength significantly but Bibi Dong didn't stop them.

It wasn't out of selflessness but selfishness.

If she desired to be strong then she must face tribulations of life and prepare for everything by keeping in mind what she can lose and gain. She cannot lose her teammates but everything else could be sacrificed if it meant survival.

Possible threats like these would never end so instead of keeping Ja Sun and Ah Yin close to her, Bibi Dong wanted Ah Yin and Ja Sun to have their own breakthroughs. The quicker they leave, the quicker they will return and after understanding the sheer enhancements brought with such a qualitative breakthrough, Bibi Dong was sure that once any of the two return, the team's overall potential would shoot through the roof!

---

"What are you thinking?" Ah Yin inquired as her vines kept her tied to Ja Sun while he flew using his second spirit ring— Silver Light Wings.

The two pairs of wings flapped gracefully as the wind whipped in the duo's faces barely managing to faze them.

"Many things," Ja Sun replied, "Say, if there is someone who isn't talking with you, how can you make them open up?"

"What kind of question is that?" Ah Yin frowned.

"I'm torturing someone for answers," Ja Sun replied, "But the individual wouldn't answer. What is a different approach? I've tried coaxing, threatening, and every other play in my book but the opponent is too resilient."

"I don't know if this is the right analogy to consider your and Yuehua's situation. If you just talk to her, she will understand that you didn't have a choice. Of course, if you have an erection in this scenario then you're doing something wrong," Ah Yin spoke up.

Ja Sun and Ah Yin continued to fly for a few seconds silently and he finally questioned, "Say what?"

"Weren't you talking about Yuehua?" Ah Yin questioned back.

"Stupid bitch!" Ja Sun gasped, "Why would I want to torture Yuehua? She's cool. You, on the other hand, are surely high! Have you lost your mind or did I fuck you too great enough?!"

"Oh, shut the hell up," Ah Yin rolled her eyes, "How the fuck am I supposed to know what's going in that stupidly obscene head of yours?!"

"I'm obscene? Me?! You're clearly high." Ja Sun concluded and then huffed, "I meant literally. Not Yuehua but a god."

"Like you can afford to catch one," Ah Yin scoffed.

"Forget it. Your mind is incomparably narrow to comprehend the truth and only finds joy in my—"

"I'll cut it off if you speak anything stupid again," Ah Yin's vine coiled around the crack of his ass and pressed against his balls. Ja Sun quickly regained his composure. He almost squeaked in fear since he felt his nightmare of getting pegged had arrived. Luckily...

'That's it! Find it's fears...' Ja Sun's eyes glowed.

"What's going in your head now?" Ah Yin inquired once again.

"Many things," Ja Sun replied calmly, "Could you move the tip of the vine away from my balls? It's feeling ticklish."

---

The duo continued to fly for the day. They didn't feel physically exhausted or mentally since wasting time on scenery didn't make sense anymore since the couple had already traveled to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well within the Sunset Forest before.

It was a wildland now.

Qian Daoliu might know of this location or its use but Ja Sun was sure that the man hadn't contacted the Yin Yang Petals. To contact this unknowingly strong spirit beast, Ja Sun had to literally dive into the pool that would shred even a Titled Douluo unless a similar core is formed. What Ja Sun had sensed from Qian Daoliu was that he had already formed his spirit and physique core but lacked the mental core.

Not only that, according to Yin-Yang Petals, she was suppressing divine beasts underneath and was a product of their divine energy alongside the blessed land. Ja Sun didn't know back then what it meant but now he knew quite a lot of things.

Divine meant the next path.

Divine Beasts were none other than spirit beasts at the rank above 100 but...

How?

Memories of the Death Spider Emperor revealed a scene of tribulation that every beast needs to go through and for some reason, the Death Spider Emperor had gone through 11 of such tribulations before asking for the 'King's' help to revert back. In that piece of memory, a giant emerald Phoenix met with its end... and Ja Sun knew that such an attack would end him, too.

But why?

Why were the conditions so different?

He had yet to understand these and the divine intent of Poseidon he had captured may just be the key to solving all of the mystery.

The duo soon reached the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well completely covered by multiple herbs in the making of immortal herbs once again! These weren't any special herbs since Ja Sun and Ah Yin had stolen most of those herbs back then. Still, there was another set of Octagonal grass and the Delicate Fire Apricot herb growing in the optimal locations near the pond once again.

The entire blessed land made within the bowl-shaped opening of the mountain was covered with blue and red crystals.

These crystals were the accumulation of ice and fire poison but it didn't affect Ja Sun and Ah Yin at all.

Smoothly landing in the blessed land, the two observed their surroundings.

Once it was clear that they were alone indeed, Ja Sun and Ah Yin made preparations for her breakthrough. Unlike the 100000-year-old Death Spider Emperor, the Yin-Yang Petals was quite compliant and child-like to the point that even Ah Yin, who claimed roses to be whores, didn't want to end the consciousness of the Yin-Yang Petals.

So, if she needed to absorb this spirit soul of unknown strength, she needed to have enough mental energy. Her martial soul had evolved to Blue Silver Goddess once she absorbed the Blue Silver Emperor's Core which also had an effect in increasing and healing mental energy. A slight portion of the core left unused was still within her body which Ah Yin intended to use as the base for her new body's core.

But it wasn't enough.

Ja Sun was clear that Ah Yin's mental energy needed to be pushed forward forcefully. It can be healed since her martial soul was simply the best regarding this.

So, instead of directly forming the spirit soul, Ja Sun began to use mental acupuncture on Ah Yin.

After experiencing the effect of divine energy on a spirit bone, Ja Sun felt that Yin-Yang Petals, who was formed from the balance of two opposing divine forces won't be so simple to handle. It may just be stronger than an average 100000-year-old spirit beast in terms of pure cultivation.

No, it most likely is, Ja Sun concluded.

This theory excited Ah Yin a great deal. This would be her first and last spirit soul, so, the more excellent it is the better.

As Ah Yin would rest after each session of the Mental Acupuncture Technique, Ja Sun would study the natural arrays in detail once again. Now that he knew something was hiding underneath, suppressed by the Yin-Yang Petals, he knew what to look for and he had something that wasn't a possibility for him back then when he first uncovered the secrets of this blessed land— Divine Intent.

Just the addition of Divine Intent made it easier on Ja Sun to spot a few details that didn't amount to much back then but made all the difference this time around.

And as expected, he soon found some abnormalities that excited Ja Sun, too.

He never feared any challenges that would prove worthy enough and if he wasn't wrong...

This was an event worthy enough to pull out all the stops except one thing he would rather not easily reveal.
