A confused voice came from the door.

“Sue, why are you back?” Shilla, who was sitting motionlessly on the sofa, immediately stood up and walked quickly towards the door.

Sue was wearing a hat and she looked pale. She was so skinny that her dress hung on her thin frame.

John followed closely behind Shilla. It was clear that they were extremely afflicted and worried for Sue, whereas towards Lauren, they completely ignored her.

Lauren’s heart suddenly ached and she felt deeply for the “Lauren” whom they had forsaken in the countryside.

“Is this how you teach your child? Why didn’t she greet her sister?” Grandma said when she saw John and Shilla fussing over Sue. She was angered that Lauren was left out.

“Grandma,” Sue called out in a low voice, looking bewildered.

In the past nineteen years, her parents had never mentioned Lauren’s existence, so she knew nothing about her.

Not only her, but Roman also did not know either.

Shilla was the one in shock, but why did even John, her biological father, dislike her so much? Lauren felt that there must be more than meet the eye!

“This is your twin sister.” Grandma led Lauren to Sue and introduced her.

Sue was stunned, “Twins?” But they did not look alike at all.

She did not welcome Lauren’s presence. After all, she was the pampered princess. Now that she was sick, a twin sister suddenly popped up out of the blue.

If she did not come back today, would she still be kept in the dark?

“Impossible, we don’t look alike. You have given up on me, right? How can you do this to me?”

Sue’s emotions instantly spiralled out of control. She screamed and shook her head in denial.

Shilla wanted to hold her, but Sue shook her off and rushed out of the living room.

Shilla and John went after her immediately, leaving Grandma and Lauren in the living room.

It seemed that Shilla would not be bringing her to the mall anytime soon.

“Ren, your sister has been sick for some time. It seems that your parents have not told her about you,” Grandma sighed.

It was one thing for John and Shilla to go overboard, but why was Sue so extreme and thoughtless?

“It’s okay, Grandma. I’m fine.” It seemed that her sister did not like her either. Well, so be it since she could not possibly please everyone.

Not long after, John returned with an ominous face. Without a word, he rushed to Lauren, grabbing her hand and pulling her out.

“Let go of me!” Lauren struggled. With just a little effort, she got out of John’s hold in no time.

John was startled by her strength, but he quickly recovered to bark out an order, “Sue is unconscious and is on the way to the hospital. Come with me to the hospital now!”

He wanted her to go to the hospital to give Sue a blood transfusion.

Seeing Sue’s pale appearance just now, Lauren was a little moved to help but that notion was completely squashed by John’s overbearing attitude.

“What right do you have to order me? I don’t care whether she’s alive or dead.”

“She is your sister!” John rebutted furiously.

Lauren immediately retorted, “Did she treat me as her sister? Did you see her reaction just now? Did you and mom ever treat me as your daughter?” She would go for the blood transfusion but she needed to get this off her chest first.

“I’ve already done what you had requested for last night. What more do you want?” John dug his nails into his palms, trying to suppress his mounting anger.

Lauren smiled. “I saw how much the both of you doted on her. But I’m nothing in your eyes.”

“What exactly do you want?” Even though John was near to exploding, he could sense that she had an ulterior motive.

She smiled wantonly. “Well, you are begging me for a favor now. Let’s sign an agreement – I want a monthly allowance, the same amount as what you are giving Sue every month..”
