The sickroom suddenly fell into silence, leaving only the two of them to breathe. She was not used to this kind of silence, she only felt like her chest was out of breath and wanted to go out to take a breather.
"Do you think it's appropriate for you to go out like this?"
She was just wearing a bandage over her head. She wasn't missing an arm or a leg, so she couldn't walk. She could only shake his sleeve and act like a spoiled child. "Chi Yinan, it's too stuffy here. I'll be back soon. I promise not more than half an hour."
Chi Yinan looked at her and swore to the heavens. He just didn't know that she was being struck by lightning. "Warm and cautious. Compared to acting coquettishly, I prefer to be substantive."
She cursed in her heart. This was obviously taking advantage of the situation, but she had no choice but to kneel on the bed and quickly kiss him.
She happily put on her shoes and got off the bed. She went to the bathroom to clean up her face. He was holding her coat as he stood by the door. She suddenly had a bad premonition.
There were many people in the elevator, including adults carrying children, young people supporting old people, and people sitting in wheelchairs supporting them. She was pushed to the edge, next to the metal wall, and Chi Yinan wasn't any better off. Behind her, her body was next to her, and from the mirror in front of her, his unhappy face could be seen.
When they finally reached the first floor, she was the first to be pulled out by him. She had originally wanted to leave him and go out for a walk by herself, but now he pulled her by the wrist and walked forward, through the crowd in the hall and along the long corridor.
Chi Yinan leaned against the stone pillar, the corners of his eyes slightly raised, the imposing aura emanating from his body completely retracted. He was like a harmless and innocent sheepdog, but she only dared to slander him in her heart.
"Hmm, isn't that the great ice beauty Xu?" Su Wenjin glanced over and caught a glimpse of Xu Bing, who was wearing a peaked cap, walking in through the door, followed by a girl who should be her assistant. The two of them didn't want to attract attention, so they kept a low profile.
Chi Yinan didn't move his eyes much. He just followed the direction of her finger and quickly retracted it. He snorted twice: "Warm, don't look around if you don't want to. If you get some fresh air, then go back."
She curled her lips and decided not to make him angry. She pointed at the stone bench opposite them and politely called him over to take a seat.
"No need, wait here. I'll be right back."
After Chi Yinan finished talking, he started walking down the path towards the hall. She supported him with her hands and watched him disappear into the crowd with a smile on her face.
Pulling the zipper on her coat, she got up from the stone bench and walked down the steps and along the path until she reached the bridge. Listening to the gurgling sound of the water, she turned a corner and sat down by the lotus pond.
She lay on the red railing and looked at the fish in the water. Suddenly, she wanted to touch it with her hand, to feel its smooth back. The fish floated next to a withered lotus root, quietly floating.
If only he had some bread, he could feed it. Su Wenjin walked out of the pavilion and bought some bread from the supermarket outside the hospital.
