Rebirth of the Great Era 1993

Chapter 834, everyone has their own thoughts (please subscribe!)

Set your phone to vibrate, put it in your pocket, get up and leave.

Just when we arrived at the lobby of the teaching building, my phone vibrated in my trouser pocket. The vibration was so severe that it almost shook the Himalayas.

Damn it, the old man who was startled and still immersed in Wenhui's emotions cursed and reluctantly took out his mobile phone.

I found out it was a call from the director's office.

When the call is connected, call out: "Director."

The director asked: "Is this not disturbing your writing now?"

Zhang Xuan said: "No, I'm taking a walk outside. Is something wrong, teacher?"

Hearing this answer, the director breathed a sigh of relief and then said: "I do have something to do with you. Isn't the school going to hold a graduation ceremony the day after tomorrow? The school wants you to come on stage and deliver a speech on behalf of the outstanding graduates."

Zhang Xuan joked to himself: "Am I still an outstanding graduate?"

The director said boldly: "That must be the case."

Zhang Xuan declined: "I'm busy and don't have time to write."

The director took over everything: "Don't worry about this, I've written it all for you."

Zhang Xuan still didn't want to go: "I also need to practice my speech, I..."

The director laughed loudly: "The newspaper said that you were able to talk with ease when being interviewed by the BBC and receiving the Hugo Award. I think this will not be a problem for you."

Zhang Xuan was completely speechless. Grandma is such a badass. This director's face is so shameless compared to his own. It's really painful.

But now that the matter has come to this, he can no longer refuse. After all, a tree lives with its skin and a person lives with its breath. They are all people who want face.

Thinking of this, Zhang Xuan asked: "Teacher, are you in the office?"

"exist."

"Then I'll come over."

After hanging up the phone, Zhang Xuan turned around and walked towards the director's office.

I met Wu Yao at the door, apparently reporting for work.

"Senior." Seeing him, Wu Yao, who looked tired, cheered up and smiled, taking the lead in saying hello.

"Um."

Zhang Xuanyuan hummed, looked at her and asked one more question: "Have you not had a good rest recently? Or are you too busy?"

Wu Yao took a peek inside the office, stared at him, and left with a smile.

Zhang Xuan walked in and sat on the chair opposite the director: "Teacher, I see how tired you are of this little girl. She has dark circles under her eyes at such a young age."

The director didn't take it seriously: "Wu Yao is a talented person who can perfectly make up for the vacancy in the student union after Xiao Shiyi left office. You should learn more and practice more while you are young."

With that said, the director took out a manuscript from the drawer and handed it to him: "Actually, I would rather you give an unscripted speech. Over the past few decades, people have become numb after watching them speak mechanically every day."

It was only when facing Zhang Xuan that the director spoke out his heartfelt words. After all, he himself is a representative figure of mechanical speech, and he has been doing so for decades.

Zhang Xuan took the manuscript and took a look at it. It was indeed official enough, and he immediately put it down: "Okay, I don't like this either. I can just go up and say a few words when the time comes."

The director said: "You are not just saying a few words casually. You are a great writer. This is called speaking freely and elegantly."

Zhang Xuan: "."

As graduation approached, I discovered that the director was also naughty. No wonder he became Qin Yueming's licking dog.

I just have a question, what benefits can I get by still being a dog at the age of forty?

It had been a long time since they had a drink and chatted, and the two chatted for half an hour before breaking up.

Seeing the instructor come in to see the director, Zhang Xuan took the initiative to say hello to the two of them, got up and left.

When he walked out of the teaching building of the School of Management, he actually had a question in his mind: should he donate a sum of money to his alma mater?

This is a way for many celebrities to give back to their alma mater.

However, I feel that there is no rush at this moment. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future, so don’t ruin a good graduation ceremony with money.

Although the school is definitely 100% happy, the senior students below may not be happy. Everyone is nervous about finding a job now, and they are all worried about their livelihood and future. You, also a recent graduate, can be theirs with a wave of your hand. Doesn't wealth that cannot be earned in a lifetime attract hatred?

This is a good thing, but it depends on the time and occasion.

On the way back, I met Ou Ming and Ding Yanhong who were out of breath.

Zhang Xuan looked around and asked curiously: "This place is empty and there is no place to cover it. How do you make your face so red and so thick-necked?"

Ding Yanhong was an old fool, and she immediately laughed and scolded: "Bah! You are still a great writer, why are you talking about me and Ou Ming like that? Even if I dare, Ou Ming is a coward and he wouldn't dare! If you don't believe it, you let him Try taking off your pants?"

Ou Ming glanced around and smiled: "There's not even a bush of grass. I really don't dare."

Ding Yanhong looked directly at Ou Ming and asked Zhang Xuan: "There are so many beauties who like you, why are you walking alone?"

"Hi!"

Zhang Xuan let himself go today: "It's because there are so many beauties who like me and I don't know which one to take, so I became one."

Ask them: "Where are you so happy?"

Ding Yanhong gestured: "We went to try taking the subway today. It was so clean! It was so fast! There were just so many people that my breasts almost burst."

Zhang Xuan gave a thumbs up and didn't know how to continue the conversation.

But speaking of the subway, during breakfast today, he also heard Zou Qingzhu, Shuangling and Wenhui discussing the news in the newspaper: Yangcheng Subway Line 1 was fully opened on the 28th of this month.

Today seems to be the 28th.

Zhang Xuan asked with concern: "Xiao Ding, I heard that you went to Sony, a Japanese company. What are you doing there? Are you used to it?"

Ding Yanhong was very happy when she mentioned this: "It's okay over there, but the workload is relatively heavy. I was so busy that I didn't even have time to drink water."

Zhang Xuan asked: "The salary must be very good."

Ding Yanhong stretched out two fingers and said: "Last month I took more than 1,500."

It is indeed a high salary to get more than 1,500 when you first join these days, but if you work for a Japanese company that is booming now, everything is understandable. After all, the salary may seem high, but it is actually at the bottom of a large company like Sony.

Of course, this bottom refers to the office, not the workshop assembly line.

Zhang Xuan said sincerely: "You have a long way to go with your money. If you get rich in the future, come back and treat us to drinks."

Ding Yanhong said enthusiastically: "No problem! Although I am not as good as you, the great writer, but as long as I make money, I will definitely treat everyone to food and drinks."

When I returned to the teachers' apartment, there was no one on the second floor.

I knocked on the door on the third floor and found six people chatting and eating sunflower seeds on the sofa. The TV was also on, but it was full of advertisements.

After secretly observing Wenhui, he found that everything was normal, and happened to chat with Ruan Xiuqin and Ai Qing with a smile.

After Zhang Xuan exchanged greetings with everyone, he took Du Shuangling aside and asked, "The phone was muted because I was writing, and I forgot to turn it over. Is there anything urgent you need to see me for?"

Du Shuangling stretched out her hand to smooth the wrinkles on his chest, "No, we are going to the vegetable market at that time. We plan to make seafood porridge for supper. I want to ask if there is anything you particularly want to eat?"

Zhang Xuan shook his head: "I'll go down to write later. If I don't want to eat midnight snacks, you can eat with your parents."

Du Shuangling was not surprised when he heard this, so he said yes.

I didn’t know that from that day on, the campus was filled with the atmosphere of the graduation season. People wore bachelor’s uniforms to take pictures, and the campus radio kept playing Wu Qilong’s “Have a Happy Journey”, Zhou Huajian’s “Friends”, Jacky Cheung’s “Blessings”, and Zhang Yusheng’s “Blessings”. "My Future Is Not a Dream" and "Brothers Sleeping on the Top Bunk" by Lao Lang.

It’s like this every day, these 5 songs are played around every day, making the mood of a bunch of seniors keep rising and falling with these songs, hugging each other, crying, their eyes full of sadness and reluctance about the past and anxiety about the future. ,expect.

At 9 a.m. on the 30th, the graduation ceremony was held as scheduled in the school auditorium.

Thousands of people gathered together, and the small auditorium was packed. All graduates of the school, school leaders, leaders of secondary units, academic affairs offices, school youth league committees, and leaders and teachers responsible for student affairs in various departments were all present.

Zhang Xuan was arranged to sit in the center of the first row, waiting to go on stage to speak. Next to him was Principal Gao.

As soon as they met, Principal Gao asked: "I heard that you didn't prepare a speech?"

Zhang Xuan turned around and sold the director in the back row: "A leader said he didn't want to see a 20-year-old like me look like a 40-year-old, so he asked me to go up and fool around with him."

Hearing this, the leaders nearby laughed out loud.

This is not directed at anyone, but that every one of these leaders is over 40 years old.

Principal Gao was very envious: "I wanted to make a few random remarks, but I have been using this manuscript for the graduation ceremony for many years. I would be a little reluctant to not use it today."

Zhang Xuan asked: "Have you used it for many years? Have you not changed a word?"

Principal Gao said: "That's what I changed. At least I pay attention to the year number every year."

Ouch, what a crooked old man!

Ever since he tormented himself at the school anniversary dance last time, Zhang Xuan knew that there was a crooked heart underneath this serious appearance.

But when it comes to people, if Zhang Xuan is not here, it will be difficult for other school leaders to see Principal Gao's side. This is probably because of the circle.

Just like some big bosses, they usually wear black suits and black leather shoes when they go out, and their business is worth tens of millions or even billions. But once you have a drink, all the talk at the wine table is about girls and prices. This is a circle, and only people of equal status will show this side.

The graduation ceremony began. School leaders gave speeches, the principal gave a speech, the commendation decision was read out, and teacher representatives spoke.

Zhang Xuan sat below, his expression as usual. But in my heart I agreed with the director's statement. Every representative said a bunch of official expressions that had no practical meaning.

When it was the turn of Zhang Xuan, a great writer and wealthy alumnus, to speak on stage, the audience applauded like thunder.

Zhang Xuan stood up and said:

"Hello, teachers and students.

To be honest, standing here is not what I want to do. I even protested to the director last night. He couldn't harm me just because I usually miss a lot of classes. "

Hearing unexpected words from the most awesome alumnus of CUHK, everyone in the audience immediately started booing, laughing, and applauding.

Zhang Xuan continued: “But having said that, if it weren’t for CUHK’s adaptability to local conditions and concrete analysis of specific problems, and if it weren’t for CUHK’s big heart and tolerance for me, it would be difficult for me to achieve what I have achieved today.

I am very grateful to CUHK for this!

As everyone graduates and is about to embark on a new journey in life, you must be a little nervous and a little confused, but more importantly, you are excited, excited, and longing for a better life in the future.

So at this moment, what can I tell you?

I thought about it all night yesterday and couldn't sleep well. I was thinking, I am the same age as everyone, and at this critical moment when I am about to start my life journey, what can I say?

To be honest, there are thousands of words to say, and I really don’t know where to start, and whether talking too much will really help everyone. This is where I felt a lot of pressure last night.

I later thought, I will only talk about two points, based on my life experience.

First, always believe in the power of dreams

Why are you talking about dreams here?

This is because looking back on the path I have taken in the past, the most unforgettable thing in my life is my four years in college.

Because these four years of college life have played an indelible role in my life.

In 1993, that is, four years ago, when I first entered college, I was still a poor country boy earning pocket money by contributing articles to major newspapers.

But an accidental idea made me decide to change my career path, and that was to start writing "The Sound of the Wind". Friends who are familiar with it know that this book played a decisive role in my life.

Starting from the book "The Sound of the Wind", I embarked on "Bon Voyage" which is often played on the outside radio these days.

At that time, while walking on the playground of CUHK over and over again, I established my life's dream - to do something earth-shattering in the literary world. My talents are destined to be useful, and I must be a great person in the future.

Of course, it is easy to build a dream. I believe every student has a great dream, but after having a dream, do you practice it?

So when I was in my first year of college, I told myself that just having dreams is not enough. I have to be down-to-earth and really do a few different things.

The first goal I set for myself was to use "wind" to find a new way and become famous in one battle.

I am very grateful to CUHK for teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. From that day on, I embarked on the road of skipping classes.

I remember that except for skipping classes on major subjects, I spent all the rest of my time writing. There were many times when my classmates told me: The teacher called the roll again, and you didn’t show up. You became the person who missed the most classes in the class. You became famous in the management school for absenteeism, etc.

I had not yet become famous at that time, and I was worried, but I still persevered and persisted based on my own ideas. The result was later known to everyone. According to the praise in the newspapers, I became famous overnight, and I soared into the sky.

To put it in a cheesier way: I changed from a toad to swan meat. It’s still meat, but it’s more valuable.

With Zhang Xuan's rich gestures and expressions, everyone in the audience almost laughed.

The applause was thunderous.

"After "The Wind" became famous, I was thinking that in this era of opportunities, it is definitely not that I am smarter or more diligent than others.

I think the biggest difference is that I established my life dream earlier than them and put it into practice.

This is my first advice to everyone, always believe in the power of dreams.

Today, everyone is about to embark on the journey of life, establish dreams and goals as early as possible, and take action as early as possible. I think this is a new beginning in life after graduating from college.

After finishing the first point, the second point I want to tell you is to have the courage to believe in the power of persisting in your dreams.

It is easy to have a dream, and it is also easy to realize the dream, but it is difficult to stick to the dream.

If you can persist today, can you persist tomorrow and the day after tomorrow? Can you still hold on after one month and half a year?

Just now, the host introduced to you the achievements I have achieved so far: a Mao Dun Literature Award, winning the three major science fiction awards twice, becoming a billionaire, etc.

I won’t brag about these achievements to you one by one. What I want to tell you is the power that has allowed me to get to where I am today step by step.

I started writing "The Wind" four years ago and "Latent" in the second semester of my freshman year. In just one year, I jumped out of my comfort zone and started writing science fiction novels.

Now let me tell you about the difficulties I encountered when writing science fiction novels. It wasn’t that I couldn’t write, or that I couldn’t write. The biggest problem I encountered at that time was that no one around me thought highly of me.

As someone who has successfully established a foothold in the Chinese literary world, I have editor-in-chief Bole Hong, uh, now I should be President Hong, and editor Tao Ge.

When they read "The Wind-up Girl", my first science fiction novel, I clearly remember their expressions: confused! What is this written about? can't read!

If it weren't for my fame and status, they would have started complaining long ago.

As you can probably guess next, President Hong, editor Tao Ge, and even friends around me advised me to return to traditional literature, return to my comfort zone, and not to be a monster, not to seek death, and not to destroy. A good situation has been established with great difficulty now.

Editor Tao Ge asked a very fatal question at that time: We are not optimistic about your science fiction novel, and other domestic colleagues are definitely not optimistic about it, so what should you do? Where do you publish?

I told her at that time: Go abroad.

When I learned that Tao Ge had a huge network of connections overseas, I thought that since I was so weak and had to study, I wouldn't be able to handle it overseas.

Later, I clapped my hands and thought of a trick: I would start drawing cakes for her, and I would draw endless cakes for her whenever I got the chance, just to get her to support me. "

"Hahaha"

Hearing this, even Principal Gao grinned, and the atmosphere in the small auditorium reached a climax. The originally boring speech was filled with joy and laughter.

Ruan Xiuqin, who was at the viewing stand below, was very excited to see her baby cub so popular.

On the other hand, Ai Qing and Du Dudong are much more normal. After all, they have been to the Hugo Award Ceremony. This is just drizzle compared to that, but they are still quite proud of him and feel honored that their daughter has such vision.

The happiest person in the entire CUHK must be Du Shuangling. She is even happier when she sees her man's beauty than her own, like drinking honey. He looked at the person above with crooked eyebrows, his eyes were full of love and his smile was full of love.

Unlike Du Shuangling, Wen Hui is the other extreme, very quiet. Although his eyes also fell on Zhang Xuan, in the eyes of outsiders, he looked calm. This appearance made Ruan Xiuqin and Ai Qing, who were paying attention next to him, heave a sigh of relief.

However, appearances are superficial. In fact, Wen Hui is not as rational and calm as she appears deep down.

After experiencing the scene in the classroom last night, her mentality changed a lot.

Looking at the people talking on the stage, Wen Hui even thought: If his first love was her, could the two actors take him away from her? Will he still fall in love with Mi Mi?

Zou Qingzhu meowed Shuangling for a while, and Wenhui for a while, feeling very worried and disappointed. The three best friends who could have been inseparable for 7 years, but because of a man, the time was shortened to 4 years, which made her feel like crying.

The perspective of Xiao Eleven in the audience was different from the others. She stared at Zhang Xuan, and her mind was filled with images of the student union meeting room. At that time, the two of them were skin-to-skin and almost got pregnant. I couldn't help but think to myself: What would have happened if I had gotten pregnant unexpectedly last time?

In another area, Liu Siming secretly asked Dong Ziyu: "Do you like such a man?"

Dong Ziyu said nothing.

Liu Siming said: "If you don't take action, you will have no chance. Once you graduate, this man will have nothing to do with you."

Dong Ziyu's heart was twitching, and an unprecedented melancholy emerged from it.

But in the end he said: "He is like a lion running very fast on the grassland. I am the photographer. I can take pictures and watch him from a distance. If I get close to him, I will be torn into pieces."

Liu Siming looked at her arm: "If Zhang Xuan is a lion, he is also a male lion. According to the laws of animals, male lions can own a pride of lions, that is, a group of female lions."

Dong Ziyu smiled: "Where did the female lion come from? She is a female lion."

Liu Siming blinked: "They are all the same, they all revolve around male lions, and they all mate and give birth to cubs for the male lions."

Dong Ziyu couldn't listen anymore: "Have I become such a person in your eyes?"

Liu Siming looked at the person in front of him: "If the target is Zhang Xuan, I don't feel ashamed.

Do you believe it or not? Not to mention other places in society, just in this small auditorium, as long as there is a chance to mate with him and produce cubs, it is guaranteed that countless girls will give it a try. "

Dong Ziyu acquiesces in this view.

When the laughter subsided, Zhang Xuan continued: "Tao Ge ignored me at first, but then he got annoyed by me and said perfunctorily, "Let's watch it later."

In the end, perhaps out of fear of being pestered by me, Tao Ge made a three-part agreement with me: If "Clockwork Girl" fails, I will continue writing traditional literature.

I agreed.

One thing to say is that at that time, although I acted confident in front of others, I actually had little confidence and was always worried.

Especially after "Clockwork Girl" was rejected more than ten times in a row for overseas submissions, her confidence almost collapsed.

But fortunately I persisted, and fortunately the pie I drew made Tao Ge persist, so I achieved the glory that followed me: dominating the top three in the world's book sales list.

As an Easterner, I think this is a great thing.

This achievement is really a miracle in the global book market.

So what kind of motivation makes me willing to persist in my faith and not collapse?

You may be full of curiosity and envy towards me, and I also believe that all of you here will surely have great people and do great things in the future.

At this moment, I would like to say one more thing to everyone: persisting in dreams is definitely not a job for humans, but a job for cats and dogs. If you don't have an iron will, you will never do it. I don't think it's fun to stick to your dreams.

So in today's fast-moving era, I would like to remind everyone that if you really want to do something big, you must be prepared in advance.

In the early days of my writing career, I woke up from dreams several times at night and felt as if I was getting further away from my dreams. I often asked myself if I had the courage to persist?

In fact, this question is difficult to answer.

But I think I have reached this point and there is no way out. I must keep going. No matter whether "Clockwork Girl" succeeds or not, I cannot let my life be full of regrets.

I must try my favorite science fiction field to see if I can create a miracle? So I made up my mind to do this.

After making this decision, I still have many, many concerns. Why, because if I mess up, my reputation will be ruined.

So at that time, I convinced myself that in the first one or two years, I should be extremely low-key, highly confidential, and down-to-earth. I would not speak out until I had achieved almost the same results, or even change my pen name. I felt that this would be more effective. .

I used various methods to overcome my fear of unfamiliar territory and fear of the possible consequences of the failure of "Clockwork Girl", and then I became successful and famous as "Clockwork Girl".

Standing here today, I want to tell you that I believe that everyone here has a dream, and I believe that you have taken action for your dream.

What I want to ask is, five years from now, ten years from now, twenty years from now, and twenty-five years from now, do you still have the courage and determination to persist in your dreams, and do you believe in the power of persisting in your dreams?

These are my two pieces of advice for you at this moment.

Finally, everyone is about to graduate. I wish you all a bright future, a successful career, and all the best. The more important thing is that everyone should be happy.

thank you all.
