Reborn In Pokemon With Only Appraisal

When Xander woke up, his eyes were immediately ȧssaulted by the sunlight. He had to cover his eyes for a few seconds before allowing them to adjust.

When he got used to the light, Xander tried to sit up and get out of bed. But it was only after he sat up did he realize that there was some weight on his legs.

Xander looked down and saw the sleeping Cynthia on his legs. She was lying across the bed with her face facing him. Xander could see the tear streaks under her eyes and immediately felt guilty.

'Crap. How could I make such a cute girl cry?'

Xander's mind had become slightly more mȧturė due to the memories he got from his past life but those were very vague. It was like his intelligence got a huge boost while his wisdom got a minor boost.

Not willing to et up, Xander stayed in position as he looked around the room. Both of Cynthia's pokemon were lying next to her in bed while Xander saw two pokeballs on the nightstand beside him.

He tried to reach out and grab the balls but due to his short arms, he was unable to reach them. He quickly gave up and figured he would wake for Cynthia to wake up.

'Oh yeah. I have that Appraisal ability. I guess I can test it out since I am just waiting,' Xander quickly thought of a way to relieve his boredom.

He turned his attention to the two pokeballs on the nightstand before thinking the word 'Appraisal' in his mind.

Two small blue screens appeared in front of his eyes that contained a lot of information. Very little of it that Xander could understand.

Larvesta (Evolves into Volcarona once its average stats reach A-rank)

Gender: Male

Type: Bug/Fire

Ability: Drought (Pokemon can naturally create a field of harsh sunlight similar to the effect of Sunny Day)

Potential: SSS

Current Average: E

Hit Points: F/A/SS

Moves: String Attack, Ember

Alolan Vulpix (Evolves into Alolan Ninetails when average stats reach B rank and pokemon uses and Ice Stone)

Gender: Female

Type: Ice (Becomes Ice/Fairy upon evolution)

Ability: Snow Warning (The pokemon can naturally create a hail effect similar to the move Hail)

Potential: S

Current Average: E

Attack: E/C/B

Defense: E/C/A

Special Attack: E/B/S

Special Defense: E/B/S

Speed: E/A/SS

Moves: Tackle, Powder Snow

After reading through the descriptions of both of his pokemon, Xander was very confused about the letters at first but was able to make some sense of them.

The letters represented how strong a pokemon was. He could also tell that the 3 highest letters would determine the pokemon's strength. Vulpix had a max of 2 A, 1 B, 2 S, and 1 SS rank in its stats which meant that its final average potential was around S rank.

'I wonder how strong that is though. Is it comparable to a legendary pokemon or one of the Elite 4 members' pokemon if it has SSS rank?'

Xander turned away from his pokeballs before looking at Cynthia when it hit him.

'Oh, yeah. She is gonna be the future Sinnoh League Champion in the future. I wonder how strong her pokemon are.'

Xander looked at the two pokemon sleeping on his bead before he subconsciously made a noise.

"Eek!"

Cynthia was awoken by this sound and looked at Xander with worry.

"Xander? Are you ok? Are you still hurt?" Cynthia asked with tears brewing in her eyes.

Xander realized he had made a mistake and was about to make the little princess cry again. He flashed a reassuring smile before saying,

"I'm fine, Cynthia. Thanks for worrying about it. I was just surprised to see Gible in my bed."

"Ah!" Cynthia only then realized that she let her pokemon sleep in the bed with her. Most people would be shocked by that when they wake up.

Riolu (Evolves into Lucario when other trainer reaches max friendship with the pokemon)

Type: Fighting (Fighting/Steel)

Gender: Male

Ability: Prankster (Status condition moves get priority) (Turns into Justified when pokemon evolves)

Potential: SS

Current Average: E

Hit Points: E/C/S

Moves: Endure, Quick Attack

(Alpha) Gible (Evolves into Gabite and Garchomp when their average stats reach C and A respectively)

Type: Dragon/Ground

Gender: Female

Ability: Rough Skin (Making physical contact with the pokemon will cause damage to the attacker)

Potential: SSS

This Gible had even more potential than his Larvesta. When his pokemon reach his final ranking, it would only have 3 stats that had reached SSS while the others were S and SS. Gible was an entirely different monster.

'What is an Alpha pokemon? And is X-rank even higher than SSS? Just how strong is that?'

Xander knew that Cynthia was called the strongest champion on Earth but now he finally knew why. Just her two starter pokemon alone gave him an idea about how the ranks worked.

After comforting Cynthia a few times, the little princess finally allowed him out of bed. Xander grabbed his two pokeballs before Cynthia and he made their way to Carolina's lab.

Xander wanted to summon out both of his pokemon but he thought it would be better to head to the lab first. He didn't want to upset the professor and get one of her famous scoldings. But that's had been in vain.

Instead of being scolded, the old woman poured her heart out about how worried she was for Xander's safety.

'I would have preferred the scolding,' the little boy thought with tears in his eyes. After reassuring her that he was alright, the older woman finally let him go out and play under her supervision.

And by play, the two kids wanted to have their very first pokemon battle.
