Refining the Mountains and Rivers

Chapter 1680: Fate was Not With the Demon Clan

Deng Haibo was relieved of his worries and was in a good mood. This time, the interaction with the Demon Clan at Breaking Heaven Mountain had gone successfully. He had even successfully bought three treasures that his sect had placed an order for, but had not heard any news of for many years.

Just these three treasures would allow the Sky Sea Sect to earn a lot of money. As the manager of the ferry, he would also get commission.

The day passed quickly and night fell. Flying Bird came once more and reminded Deng Haibo to gather all the humans back on the ferry and not to go out at night.

The Sky Sea Sect had experienced spending the night at Breaking Heaven Mountain and were familiar with this rule.

Seeing how Flying Bird was hesitating, Deng Haibo’s face shited, “Is there something wrong?”

Flying Bird thought about it before saying slowly, “Tonight, you have to be careful.”

This was a serious warning.

Deng Haibo looked serious as he put his hands together in thanks, “I will personally keep watch; nothing will happen.”

Though he said this, he could not help but recall the strange sight back when they were in Langya Area’s main city.

He had not found the reason. Could they be…related? He felt a chill and a serious look appeared in his eyes.

Very soon, the cultivators from the Sky Sea Sect started moving around the ferry, checking for any suspicious situations and warning the guests to stay in their rooms and not move about.

The atmosphere on the ferry grew intense.

The small garden on the top deck of the ferry received the same warning, but the way it was given was more tactful.

As the night deepened, Qin Yu stood in the courtyard and looked at stars through a gap in the mist. He could not help but feel uneasy for no reason.

Rourou appeared by his side and gazed at the demon city deep in the mountain. She looked admiringly at it.

“After nurturing it for so many years, it is finally time for it to be born, yet it is in a troublesome time like this…alas, fate is not with the Demon Clan.”

Qin Yu took a deep breath and a look of determination appeared on his face. He was not unrealistic; if he could not avoid it then he had to prepare to fight with all his might.

Speaking of which, ever since Rourou had been by his side, his journey had been very smooth, as if everything was arranged properly and there had been no real challenge.

This was not a good thing for cultivators. If they led too of a peaceful life, they would waste away eventually.

The night was silent and time passed slowly. The stars in the dark night sky slowly dimmed.

Day was about to break!

At the bow of the ferry, Deng Haibo had been tensed as he stood guard for the entire night. As he looked at the sky, he slowly felt relieved.

It seemed like he had been too cautious.

When the sky brightened, the ferry could finally rise and leave Breaking Heaven Mountain Range as fast as possible. When that happened, everything would be alright.

Finally, the sky had brightened!

Deng Haibo breathed a sigh of relief as he said in a low voice, “Tell the Demon Clan we have a tight schedule and will leave immediately.”

“Yes, elder!”

The assistant manager turned and rushed off.

Deng Haibo waited, but his assistant did not return. He frowned slightly. Before he could send anyone to have a look, a miserable cry could suddenly be heard from the Demon Clan city.

An intense demon energy suddenly surged and started rushing and intensifying towards the top of the demon city. A giant demon illusion appeared and was crying out miserably and angrily at the sky.

Boom –

With an explosion, the giant demon illusion exploded!

A giant wave of demon energy flooded the entire place.

Roar –

Roar –

Roar after roar could be heard from the demon city. It sounded full of anguish and anger. The ferry shook violently. Chengshan Crab, which was bearing it all, roared continuously in unease.

Deng Haibo’s heart fell as he saw the sight in front of him. An immense uneasiness filled him.

Something had gone wrong.

The only thing that made Deng Haibo feel slightly relieved was that everyone on the ferry had kept to themselves. The situation had nothing to do with them. But this thought only held on for a second before it shattered.

Several hundred demon energy auras shot into the sky from the demon city. Each and every one represented and incredibly strong major demon.

Without hesitation, they were coming for the ferry!

Deng Haibo’s pupils shrank as he paled. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down, “Sky Sea Sect cultivators, on guard!”

As he hollered, he took a step out and left the ferry. He spoke in a low voice, “Greetings, fellow demons. I am Sky Sea Sect’s Elder Deng Haibo.”

The demon city looked to be a distance away from the ferry, but for the major demons, flying that distance only took a few seconds.

As soon as Deng Haibo spoke, the fastest major demon reached the port. A strong gust of wind blew over the ferry, causing it to shake.

“Human cultivators, how dare you all attack the demon soul; you all deserve to die!” An angry shout filled the air along with a murderous aura.

“We will kill you all and seek revenge for the demon soul!”

“No one from the ferry shall be spared. We will sacrifice their bodies and souls to appease the spirit of the demon soul!”

Deng Haibo’s expression shifted as he gritted his teeth and resisted, “Fellow demons, what happened? Our Sky Sea Sect ferry has been docked here the entire time and no one left the ferry. No matter what happened, it has nothing to do with us. Please find out the truth!”

“There is unambiguous evidence; you dare to deny it?” A major demon shouted, his eyes red, “You all have to die today!”

The group of demons suddenly split apart and a demon with red hair and eyes dashed out.

Deng Haibo immediately greeted, “Greetings, Lord Fire Demon.”

The Fire Demon before him was one of the top three most powerful and respected demons in the Breaking Heaven Mountain Range.

The ancestors of the Sky Sea Sect had formed a good relationship with him and that was how they were able to travel this route and form the base of the Sky Sea Sect’s wealth.

An immense heat radiated from Fire Demon and the air around him twisted continuously. He was like a moving volcano crater.

However, the iciness from his eyes was bone-chilling. It was cold and violent, emanating an intense murderous aura.

“Deng Haibo, let the Demon Clan search your ferry. If this really has nothing to do with you, I will guarantee your safety and let you leave…if not, you will all die here.”

Cold sweat appeared on his brows and his back was drenched in sweat. Deng Haibo opened his mouth but did not dare to say ‘no’.

He did not dare to wipe his sweat as he respectfully said, “Yes, we will do as you say.”

Fire Demon remained expressionless as he waved his hand coldly.

Woosh –

Woosh –

Several demons flew out and landed on the ferry. There were shrieks and shouts.

The Demon Clan searched quickly as they seemed to be using something. Halfway through their search, there was a loud sound from the ferry.

A demon got thrown back. Intense energy exploded from within a room in the ferry and the room was destroyed.

Two guests from the ferry were pale as they flew into the sky like lightning. At this moment, they were covered in a massless flame. Deng Haibo felt his body turn to ice as he saw this.

Fire Demon’s icy gaze landed on these two people. Cries could be heard as the flames became concrete, burning the two of them into ashes.

Deng Haibo’s heart stilled as he said loudly, “Lord Fire Demon, please let me explain. There must be another reason. It has nothing to do with me!”

Fire Demon was expressionless as his eyes remained icy.

Deng Haibo took a deep breath, “Run, everyone run!” But the truth was that he knew no one would be able to escape. They were in Breaking Heaven Mountain Range, and Fire Demon was also here.

Chaos erupted on the ferry. As people heard Deng Haibo’s shout, numerous figures shot into the air, aiming at the gap in the mist.

It was obvious that only if they managed to escape this misty area would they have a chance of survival. If they got lost in the mist, they would be killed by the Demon Clan sooner or later.

But the people who died first were those that attempted to fly into the gap. Like a huge mouth closing up, it swallowed all the cultivators.

Miserable cries could be heard, but they soon quietened down. There were now traces of blood in the mist above their heads. Amidst the turbulence, it was like a mouth swallowing. If one listened carefully, one could hear swallowing sounds.

The cultivators remaining on the ferry turned pale. As they flew into the air, they looked at the thick mist filled with blood above them and their faces fell.

Hoo –

A demonic wind passed; demon energy was concentrated in it, making the wind appear a light green color. It was like a thin blade cutting through the front of the ferry.

The cultivators’ faces were filled with horror as their bodies were cut into five pieces and blood started to flow. The isolation defense formation immediately activated as more blood splattered.

Shrieks filled the air!

In the demon wind, another major demon’s illusion appeared. The illusion was very vague as if the demon wind was his body.

“Fire Demon, I warned you before that humans cannot be trusted.

“Now that the demon soul has been harmed, you have to take responsibility. I have already sent a message to the Demon Pool. You will be punished.”

Fire Demon’s expression turned black as he said sternly, “I will take responsibility for my actions. But before that, I will seek revenge for the demon soul.”

He lifted his hands and pushed forwards. A sea of fire appeared and engulfed the Sky Sea Sect’s ferry. It was burning violently!

The formation on the ferry completely activated. Numerous light rays appeared, and amidst their rays, and it separated the fire from the ferry. Despite this, the temperature on the ferry rose rapidly.

Seeing the flames blazing, everyone appeared to be in utter despair. Their already pale faces now looked devoid of color.

Deng Haibo looked devastated. The Sky Sea Sect’s ferry…was done for!

Ahh –

A pained roar could be heard from the bottom of the ferry. As a demon beast of the water, getting burned by flames was extremely painful for Chengshan Crab.

All of a sudden, a miserable cry could be heard. ‘Boom boom boom’, there were loud sounds as the floor beneath everyone’s feet started to crack and collapse.

At this time, the Sky Sea Sect’s Chengshan Crab had chosen to rebel.

“That’s right. You are from the Demon Clan. With the demon soul being murdered, you should be angry together with us and should want to destroy the humans.”

A vague image of a major demon appeared above Chengshan Crab’s head. It tried to lure the crab over.

She was inciting Chengshan Crab to rebel.

This enchanting figure was the most mysterious out of the three powerful major demons in the Breaking Heavens Mountain Range – Charm Demon!

The ferry started to break apart and the formation on it began to break. The tongues of the flames started to enter. In a blink of an eye, several cultivators were burnt to ashes as they were not able to dodge in time.

Deng Haibo took a deep breath. He hollered and raised his hands, ‘rumble rumble’, there was the sound of water above their heads. An illusion of a wave appeared.

The Sky Sea Sect used the water element. It was a pity that Deng Haibo had yet to cross the Three Peak Realms and the Celestial Threshold.

Otherwise, what he summoned today would be the ocean and it may have been able to settle the situation.

Roar –

With a roar, a dragon formed from the water and flew out of the river. Without hesitating, it flew towards the endless sea of fire. Thereafter, a second and third one…numerous dragons jumped and tried to seal the gap in the ferry’s defense.

Though Deng Haibo knew that what he was doing was of no use, as the manager of the ferry, his duty was to protect the customers onboard.

There might be some who would survive, but he would definitely not be one of them. Otherwise the Sky Sea Sect’s reputation would be ruined.

Fire Demon’s gaze turned icier as he roared and the fire waves grew more intense.

At this moment, Wind Demon as well as Charm Demon were just watching without doing anything. Fire Demon was choosing to personally kill all the humans to atone for his sin.

Moreover, just Fire Demon was sufficient to kill the entire ferry!

A huge crack appeared in the garden, and through it, Qin Yu could see a cultivator cry out and die in the flames.

He looked up at Fire Demon. Fire Demon was indeed very strong, and Deng Haibo would not be able to last long.

Taking a deep breath, he spoke in a low voice, “I will get going.”

Rourou reminded, “Be careful of the mist.”

Qin Yu nodded and stepped out. He went through the crack and flew out of the ferry, releasing a formless energy that pushed away the flames.

Fire Demon’s gaze fell on Qin Yu and he said condescendingly, “An initial realm Ruler, asking to die!”

Hooo –

The flames around Qin Yu grew exponentially and formed a whirlpool, continuously spinning. It was like a huge fire stove and the temperature rose rapidly, threatening to burn him to ashes.

Taking a deep breath, Qin Yu closed his eyes then opened them.

Buzz –

Buzz –

Numerous rules around the air started to quickly buzz as they felt Qin Yu’s will and crawled to him. Where the port was, the entire area suddenly changed…his small world descended!

The fire whirlpool around Qin Yu instantly stopped and extinguished. Additionally, a large portion of the fire waves burning the ferry disappeared and the pressure on Deng Haibo was rapidly reduced.

His face changed as he looked at Qin Yu. Delight appeared in his despaired state.

That’s right!

How could he forget that this man was Miss Bull’s guard?

Fire Demon’s eyes was red as something seemed to shift, “King realm…no, you are not there yet!” If he was really at the King realm, he could have crushed Fire Demon with his small world with a single thought.

This realm was just a line away from that realm. But yet the distance was enough to cut off the hardly seen Celestial Gate.

Only after crossing it would he then be like a dragon in the sky, a true immortal from the heavens. Before that, he would just be struggling through time.

Fire Demon stared at Qin Yu heatedly. Beside him, Wind Demon and Charm Demon had the same looks.

He was not yet at the King realm yet he had a portion of its powers and could form a part of a small world. This person was hiding a secret.

If the three demons that were stuck in the Three Peak Ruler Realms for many years could get him, perhaps they would be able to see the Great Dao and cross the Celestial Gate.

“Attack!”

“Kill him.”

Wind Demon immediately took action and a demon wind appeared, tearing apart the restriction from the small word.

Charm Demon said this for Chengshan Crab to hear.

She spoke gently but caused Chengshan Crab to grow violent and murderous in an instant. His eyes were locked onto Qin Yu as he opened his mouth and roared.

Woosh –

His eight legs started moving rapidly like lightning, along the path that Wind Demon tore open. Lifting his huge front claw, Chengshan Crab pressed down like a small mountain crashing down.
