Reincarnated as a boss tyrant in the game
#65 - Robert Chancellor
Regardless of whether this job could bring glory to the Empire, Soren's resounding words seemed to strike a chord in the hearts of countless people.
Those lurking observers, as if drawn by a magnet, recorded this inspiring speech and quickly withdrew from the Black Cross District, presenting the valuable video footage to their respective masters.
Among them was Breyer, revered as the God of War. His eyes gleamed as he stared intently at the crystal ball presented by his servant, witnessing Soren fearlessly entering the dilapidated security station.
"Fight for the glory of the Empire!" Breyer muttered to himself, a strange light flashing in his eyes, "This Prince might truly be able to overturn people's inherent perceptions of the princes. It seems Neumann may have miscalculated this time."
In the Emperor's bedroom study, Emperor Gustav gently put down the documents in his hand and stretched languidly.
He slightly turned his head, his gaze drawn to the purple melon pancakes on a nearby plate. The tempting color of the pancakes seemed to exude an alluring magic. He reached out and gently picked up a piece, taking a bite, the crisp crunch echoing in the silent study.
This subtle sound seemed to penetrate the thick palace walls, drifting into Empress Elizabeth's ears. She walked in gracefully, holding a bowl of steaming purple melon and red fruit stew.
She approached Gustav and said softly, "Your Majesty, it's late. You should eat fewer pancakes to avoid getting a fever." Her voice was gentle and caring, like a spring breeze caressing his face.
Gustav looked up, wise light flashing in his eyes. He took the stew, took a sip, the warmth instantly spreading throughout his body, as if dispelling the chill of the night. He put down the bowl and casually asked, "Elizabeth, has Soren reported to the State Affairs Office yet?" His voice, though soft, revealed an undeniable majesty.
Empress Elizabeth smiled slightly and replied, "Yes, Your Majesty. Soren went to the State Affairs Office today and must be immersed in his new duties at this moment."
Gustav sighed softly, fully aware of Neumann's pettiness: "After such a long delay, Neumann will surely give Soren a memorable lesson."
Seeing this, Empress Elizabeth smiled gently and began to narrate the events that had happened to Soren today. Her narration was vivid and interesting, as if recreating the scenes before Gustav's eyes. Gustav listened with relish, occasionally bursting into hearty laughter. He shook his head and smiled, "This kid really has my style from back then." His words revealed his appreciation and pride for his son.
When Gustav's gaze fell on the crystal ball again, seeing the last sentence Soren left behind, his smile gradually faded. The light of admiration that flashed in his eyes, like a shooting star across the night sky, was brief but dazzling. He muttered to himself, "This kid!"
Empress Elizabeth smiled and echoed, "Your Majesty is absolutely right. Soren not only inherited your wisdom but also, like you, has the world in his heart, cares about the country and its people, and is truly a pillar of the nation."
Upon hearing this, Gustav burst into laughter, as if his hearty laughter echoed throughout the study. However, deep down in his heart, he secretly added: "This kid, is most like me when I was young, knowing how to show off and act."
Among all the princes, Gustav had only seen this trait in Samael.
At the mention of Samael, the smile on his face instantly disappeared, replaced by a cloud of gloom.
Gustav suppressed his smile and asked seriously, "How is the preparation for the upcoming Melon Growing Competition progressing?"
Empress Elizabeth nodded slightly, her face filled with a calm smile: "Your Majesty, please rest assured. All preparations have been completed. Tomorrow, we will announce the team lists and arrange for them to enter the designated manor."
Gustav nodded slightly, his deep eyes revealing his special attention to this competition. He knew that although the rules of the competition seemed simple and the princes' participation was only a formality, the real competition lay in the selection of the manor and the careful cultivation of superior purple melon varieties.
This was not only a test of agricultural knowledge but also a contest of wisdom and strategy.
"The selection of the manor and the breeding of superior varieties are the keys to success or failure," Gustav said in a deep voice, his voice revealing an undeniable majesty. He understood that every detail could be the key to determining victory or defeat, so he had to be cautious.
Seeing how much Gustav valued this, Empress Elizabeth softly comforted him: "Your Majesty, please rest assured. Prime Minister Robert has personally reviewed the selection of the manor and invited elven mages to assist in breeding. This competition will surely be a complete success, adding glory to you and the Empire."
Hearing this, a satisfied smile finally appeared on Gustav's face.
… … … … … …
The next morning, before the sun had fully awakened the earth, Soren had already gotten up early, dressed and ready to go, and hurried to the palace.
Today was the opening ceremony of the Melon Growing Competition, a grand event concerning the country's agricultural development, held every few years.
Soon, Soren met Yaxiu and Ke Lei'na in front of the palace's towering gates.
The three smiled at each other, and the three stretched out their hands and pressed them together.
"We will win!"
They walked into the palace side by side, quietly listening to Prime Minister Robert's powerful speech.
Prime Minister Robert stood on the high platform, his voice like a loud bell, echoing in every corner of the palace.
He emphasized the foundational role of food for the empire, and talked about the indissoluble bond between agriculture and national prosperity.
Although perhaps only a few truly listened to his every word, everyone tried to maintain an attitude of attentive listening, nodding from time to time, as if paying tribute to this wise old man.
As for those who could truly grasp the deeper meaning, there were very few.
When Prime Minister Robert's voice fell, he solemnly announced the official start of the competition.
The princes and princesses present did not show overly anxious emotions, but rather a calm and leisurely appearance. They greeted each other, exchanged their recent situations, as if this competition was just a small episode in their lives.
There were six teams participating in this Melon Growing Competition, among which the most eye-catching was the alliance between Nicholas and Samael.
This combination revealed a strong signal.
Consort Maria and Consort Nina also seemed to have reached some kind of mysterious agreement, but the content of the agreement was unknown.
As for the prince who was temporarily pulled in to make up the numbers, Soren hardly even glanced at him, completely regarding him as an insignificant role.
Soren's gaze was always focused on Nicholas and Samael, thinking to himself: The situation of this competition seems to be getting more and more confusing, like a butterfly effect. The two who fought the fiercest in the middle of the game have now joined forces to become the strongest combination.
