Didn't take long for ZeLin to find ZeRen, he just had to follow the howls of monsters. It wasn't that ZeRen was surrounded by monsters, the howls came from highly confused wolves.
The wolves had no idea what was killing its brethren, bodies just kept piling up. It was easier for ZeLin to find his brother, as he had the UI Map to refer to. But for the wolves, they just kept on dying in confusion.
ZeRen hadn't started looting yet, in Aegis, monsters decayed at the fixed rate. The loot would belong to the one who dealt the most damage, not the last hitter, this was to avoid kill steals. You could land a last hit dealing millions, but if the monster only had 100 hp left, it still would not count as your kill.
There was a timer to the loot, it would only belong to the person for 30 minutes (in-game), after that, anyone else would be free to loot it.
ZeRen had forgotten this rule when he killed the Rodent King, but it was good that he did. Because the others had camped the body thinking the loot was still inside.
ZeLin got to work, he received no experience points for all the kills ZeRen was getting, as mentioned previously, he could only gain exp via quests or crafting, that was a good and bad thing. Good for his party mates, as there was a exp buff for players of the same guild in a party, bad because he could only see the others level up while he was there.
ZeLin took out the [Wind Dagger], and began using it as a skinning and dismemberment knife. It cut the creature like hot knife slicing through butter. In just a short moment and a pool of blood later, ZeLin collected 1~2 each of:
Tropical Wolf Hide (Common)
Description: Can be made into light leather armor. No other uses.
Tropical Wolf Claws (Common)
Description: Can be sold to shops.
Tropical Wolf Meat (Common)
Description: Can be cooked by Chef subclass players.
Description: Crossbow string material.
Tropical Wolf Bones (Common)
Description: Alchemy & Necromancy Material
"Ahh, so it's the Tropical Wolf, brother is hunting," thought ZeLin as he harvested the materials. Only the hide and tendons were useful for him, the rest he would either sell or keep for future guild members to redeem with guild points.
Both of them did their tasks silently, only after 10 hours did ZeLin finally remember to tell ZeRen that the guild building would be ready in another 10.
Dwarf race came with a default of 30 inventory space, the largest default inventory space across all races. Each slot could hold 100 each of the materials from the Tropical Wolves, after harvesting for 10 hours, the original 30 spaces were almost full. But, ZeLin was a smith. So when he class changed, the spaces were expanded by 50. So he had 80 spaces. That meant enough space for 8,000 materials.
ZeRen was leisurely hunting, in the beginning he had used {Observe} to check up on the wolves. After that he just alternated between {Precise Shot} & {Spiral Shot}, he had and effective range of up to 900m, using Lady Sif's Intermediate Bow.
Initial testing revealed that he would be outside the Tropical Wolf's sensing range once he passed the 300m mark. Thus he stood just outside the range, then proceeded to hunt the entire pack. He was nearing the middle of the pack when ZeLin arrived, noticing that he had already begun collecting materials, ZeRen continued on.
- ROAR!!
The ground shook as a large creature came into their view, ZeRen immediately used {Observe} on the creature, his eyes popped out when he say what it was, he shared the details to ZeLin and he too had similar reaction.
Tropical Wolf Lord (Level 30) : Creature Boss
HP: 15,000 / 15,000
STA: 2,000 / 2,000
Lord of all Wolf Kings on Ind Continent, Wind & Earth Attribute, do not engage!
Summon Wolf King(s) : Summons as many wolf king(s) as there are opponents
Lord's Decree: Increase Ally Speed and Dodge by 100 points
Lord's Pride: Final damage received less 20%
Swipe Left: 2,000 pure damage, causes stun for 2 seconds
This Wolf Lord was too tyrannical, just one swipe was enough to end both ZeLin and ZeRen. They didn't even had time to defend themselves, only ZeRen saw a brief blur, then the next thing he knew, they were both back at Sum City respawn point.
ZeLin hadn't even see anything, to him, the Wolf Lord was still standing where it was when he suddenly blacked out and found himself back at respawn in town, with an equally bewildered ZeRen standing next to him, thank heavens death by mobs would not cause players to drop their equipment or inventory.
"Bro, there is no way we can kill it now, I may have 2,500 total damage, but that's only useful if I can see the darn thing and land a hit it." sad ZeLin.
"I agree, it is way outside our range, at least I remember more or less where it is, for now let's take a break, I need to get more arrows. This is too troublesome, I can't wait to get an upgrade from you brother!" said ZeRen laughing.
Death didn't faze them, all they lost was some exp, not a big issue. ZeRen walked off to the market to get some arrows, while ZeLin made his way to the auction hall. By now, the remaining 3 [Wind Dagger] had been sold, he collected 27G from the hall.
Next he put up stacks of Tropical Wolf Bones for sale, each stack having 100 bones. As there were no points of reference for prices on bones, he just listed each stack at 1G. In total, he put up 10 stacks.
When he was done, he went to the shop next door to sell off all the claws he got, each claw sold for 5 coppers, he got 50 silvers in return. It was definitely not a good exchange, ZeRen made a mental note to not pick up the claws anymore, waste of space for more valuable materials.
As he could not store the wolf meat in the guild storage yet, he decided to use the mailing system and mail all of it to ZeLin. Raw edible materials would not rot while in mail or storage, but if carried by player, it would slowly degrade and rot.
