Return Of Aegis
Chapter 30 - Wolf Lord? You wished.
The brothers quietly snuck up on the entrance of the cave, all traces they found previously of the Wolf Lord pointed towards the cave.
An eerie wail could be heard if you focused hard enough, "If only this game was like those of the past, as you near a boss fight, the boss music would begin. Sometimes I miss the good old games," said ZeRen.
The brothers continued their trek into the cave, on high alert for any movement, this wasn't their first rodeo, but it was scary nonetheless.
The deeper the brothers when, the louder the wails got, now it sounded more like the whimpering of an injured dog. "I don't like the sound of those w.h.i.n.es," whispered ZeLin. "Oh clam it you chicken, don't curse it." replied ZeRen as he raised his bow and nocked an arrow.
AWOOOOoooo... CRACK!
*Silence*
"Oh hell no, something or someone has stolen our prey!" growled ZeLin.
"Get down!" yelled ZeRen.
ZeLin and ZeRen hit the deck as fast as they possibly could, as a strong killing intent filled the tunnel there we in. The aura was so thick, you could feel it heavily pressing down on you. ZeLin took a peek at his brother next to him, ZeRen's face was covered in perspiration, a deep chill went down both their spines and goosebumps riddled their arms as they heard a low hiss.
A short while later, the aura lifted, ZeRen dared a peek and looked towards the end of the tunnel, with his elven eyes, he could see much further than normal.
[Congratulations for unlocking Eagle Sight. Eagle Sight - Level 1.]
ZeRen's sight was further enhanced with the sudden acquisition of a new passive skill. What he saw caused his jaw to drop, "Brother, we should leave. That's not something we can defeat, not at our level or just the two of us. We need to report this anomaly."
"We can't leave," replied ZeLin. "You try."
[System Notification: Players are unable to exit instance dungeon unless defeated or triumphant]
"When the heck did we enter an instance dungeon?!" whispered ZeRen.
Shrugging his shoulders, ZeLin shook his head, he had no idea either. Checking the system log didn't help either.
"Tell me, what do you see?" asked ZeLin.
"It is a HUGE black snake with two horns on its head, and it's in the process of devouring what I think was the Wolf Lord who killed us previously." said ZeRen.
"Cheh, we should be able to deal with that, we have our pets with us. What's a little death? Since it killed our prey, we should kill it." said ZeLin as he stood up.
"Seriously, what the heck. Let it swallow the Wolf Lord first, then we attack when it can't move. Snakes have to hibernate to digest the food it swallows." ZeRen replied. "We should observe it, and plan our attack."
Nodding, ZeLin hugged the shadows and walked closer to the end of the tunnel. ZeRen followed closely on the opposite wall.
Peeking off the ledge, the brothers watched as the huge snake wolfed down the Wolf Lord. The wolf's bones cracking and splintering as the snake swallowed it.
An hour later, the wolf swallowed and was now somewhere along the mid section of the snake.
"It's time brother. Let's see what this snake is made of!" ZeLin said.
*Low hissing noises…*
In the middle of the cave, a great black snake lay on its belly as it got ready to hibernate, the meal was good and would provide nourishment for its young. It had stumbled upon this prey the moment it had woken up.
The unlucky Wolf Lord had unknowingly made its den in an already occupied cave. To be fair to the Wolf Lord, this snake was hibernating and had no signs of life, no different from the rocks which littered the cave.
"Bro, cast {Observe} see what it is," said ZeLin now that they were close enough to the dozing snake.

"F.u.c.k me sideways and string me by my heels!" "We're so screwed." said the brothers simultaneously when ZeRen sent a picture of the monster's stats to ZeLin.
"I wonder if we can summon help, bro I'll inform the others to prepare, you try summoning them with the Guild Skill. Screw the cost, we can earn it back." said ZeLin.
Guild member summoning was the best thing guild leaders had, guild mates did not have to be in the same party as the guild leader to be summoned by the Guild Leader. The moment they accepted the summoning, they would automatically join the leader's party. Best thing was this skill could be used in instance dungeons as well as during guild or nation wars. But, the cost was steep. The guild would have to pay the combined guild members level in silver for the summoning. In the previous pre-patch version, guilds could summon for free - screwing up the game balance.
Perks of being a vice guild leader, ZeLin opened up the guild vault and poured his entire fortune of 40 gold coins into the guild fund.
Opening the Guild Message System, ZeLin shared the picture of Nidhogg and its skills, "Members of Yggdrasil, make yourself ready to be summoned in 3 minutes. We will be taking on the game's first ever World Boss together. All hunters are to drop what they are doing and prepare. Lifestyle players - it's your choice to join us or not, no pressure. ZeLin - out."
"Oh my God! You two sure are magnets for trouble." Sim said under her breath as she shook her head. That husband of her's and his brother sure had a knack for getting into trouble. She would not be joining the expedition but she handed over a bunch of health and mana potions to WeiChiang to bring along.
"One more thing, someone needs to temporarily make space for Nanthan, a Gravity Mage to come on board. Who is willing to temporarily vacate their slot? Core slot will still belong to you as stated in the NDA." asked ZeRen in the Guild Message System.
"I'll go, I won't be of any use at this stage, I don't have any skills suitable." said the Spatial Mage, as she exited the Guild.
"Nanthan, you're up. We need you ASAP! Invite sent." This short and simple message was then sent to Nanthan the Gravity Mage.
The 3 minutes soon ticked by and everyone was prepared to be summoned. This was going to be their first test as a guild.
