Rise Of The Fallen

Chapter 31 - 30

"Everyone get ready! We are going out!" Yelled Kael at his soldiers standing in front of the main building where the government of Grigori resided at.

His eyes landed at the crack in the ground just a few feet away from him. It was the place from where Razjeel raced towards the Devil territory.

"How could you let him go alone! He is the General Governor!" A woman's voice could be heard from the entrance door of the building. Kael and The Watchers looked in that direction.

"M-miss Raynare! I couldn't stop him! He immediately took off when I told him!"

"Enough! Can you even imagine the consequences if something happens to him? He went to face Ophis!" Raynare said in anger and frustration. It was a few minutes ago when she woke up in Razjeel's room alone.

When she heard the news about where he was and after who, she was scared, she was angry that he went there without any help but most importantly, she was worried. What if something happens to him? What if Ophis decides to kill him just on a whim?

Those thoughts constantly repeated inside her head, with each second passed she was more anxious than before.

"I swear, when he came back I will kill him..." She mumbled under her nose.

Raynare looked at the hundred men clothed in black standing in front of her. All of them were wearing hoods except one man she was familiar with, Kael. She wasn't particularly shocked by their existence, Razjeel told her some time ago when she asked why the 1st training field was out of access, but she was surprised by the pressure they give.

She could feel dozens of presences of Cadre-class Fallens and the rest was at the High-class level. None of them were saying a word, none of them were moving, just the way they were was intimidating.

"Kael." Called Raynare walking down the stone stairs.

The commander of The Watchers looked back at the woman dressed in black dress. "Miss Raynare." He nodded slightly and waited till she walk to him. Kael was familiar with the pretty black-haired woman, as she was known as the secretary of the General Governor and pretty much a friend of his new Lord. He didn't bother himself with the rumors about her past as he saw this as something too irrelevant.

"I know you are going after him." She said immediately after she walked to him.

"Yes, we are. I'm aware we didn't get any order and I'll fully bear any consequences later-."

"I'm going with you." She interrupted the yellow-eyed man.

Taken aback by her statement Kael widen his eyes. He was rather expecting that she'll try to stop them. Kael measured her from head to toes, she wasn't dressed adequately for the battle, nor she has the strength. However seeing her determination and how firm her voice was, he knew he won't change her mind. Unknowingly, Raynare gained a little more in Kael's eyes.

"As you wish. It was less than half an hour since Governor's departure." He started informing his Lord secretary. "The recon team detected two spikes of energy coming from the Astaroth territories. One identified as the Dragon of Domination, other belonged to Vanishing Dragon."

"Vali and that bastard brat? That Devil kid is no surprise since he becomes a slave to that Gremory girl, but if Vali is there then something is going on..." Thought Raynare aloud.

"Indeed. That's why we're going out right now. We have to provide any support we can, even if it's just holding off the bats." It was a mocking alias they used to call Devils due to their bat-like wings.

"All units!" Kael unfurled his black wings and flew above his soldiers. "We are moving out!"

"Yes, sir!" A hundred Watchers yelled as Ine man. But before they could even stretch out their wings, a figure descended from the sky, right next to Kael.

"What's the commotion about?" A familiar voice echoed from the sky.

Raynare instantly turned toward the source of the voice. There he stood, or rather floated. She unfurled her black wings and flew towards, crashing in his ċhėst.

Razjeel eyes widened as he embraced her to gain some balance. "Ouch! What happened?" Confused Razjeel looked down on Raynare but she didn't raise her head nor did she say anything.

With a raised eyebrow, Razjeel looked at Kael wanting him to explain the commotion, but with Raynare clinging to him, he felt weird receiving all the stares. Someone even whistled.

"Kael, my office in ten minutes. Rest of you! Dismissed!" He looked at The Watchers and hearing his order every one of them hit his ċhėst in salute and flew away, leaving a swarm of black blurs.

With everyone gone, except certain someone glued to him, Razjeel flew towards the balcony of his chamber. Feeling that she was carried, Raynare hid her wings and let herself be carried until they gently landed on the floor.

"Hey, we will melt into one if you keep squeezing me like that." He tried to tease her to break the tense atmosphere, but she didn't respond. With a sigh, he put his arms around her and gently ċȧrėssed the back of her head.

"It's not like I have something against showing affection to each other like that. In fact, I enjoy it more than I should, but can you tell me what's going on?"

"You! You are going on!" She said loudly enough to surprise Razjeel. "What the hell were you thinking?! Did you go alone to face the Ophis?! I should add 'Suicidal bastard' to your nicknames!" She started berating Razjeel right on the spot.

'I have nicknames?' Thought confused Razjeel, but he will ask about it later. Right now he should focus on another thing.

"You illegally crossed the border, you didn't inform anyone about what was going on, Kael and the others almost rushed after you! This could spark another war! One moment I sleep with my head on the table and a second later you disappear to confront a being that can shatter this realm with a sneeze! I ask you once again, what were you thinking?! I don't know what I- WE would do without you!" The anger in her voice was accompanied by the crushing squeezes of Razjeel's ċhėst, not that he felt anything.

He didn't say anything and just let her nag him until she calms down. After a minute or so, he felt her body lose previous tension, her embrace becomes weaker as she just rested her head on his ċhėst.

"I know I could have acted a little rashly, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to confirm it. And look at me I'm.....alright..." He gently grabbed her shoulders and took a step back so she could see him. But when he finally caught a glimpse of her face his words trailed off. Her lips bit to blood and her eyes were full of tears ready to fall out at any moment. She was on the verge of crying, but she held up. Maybe it was because of the frustration? Anger? Helplessness? Or something else?

But just like his eyes widen slightly, she did the same when she looked at his condition. His clothes were torn almost everywhere, the left sleeve of his shirt was missing, other was bȧrėly kept together. She saw some beggars in the better clothes! They were basically rags! But her concerns were directed on his bruises and scratches placed all over his body, especially his left arm.

"What happened to you!? Did Ophis attack you?! Just stay here! I will go for someone to heal you!-" Her eyes were wandering from a bruise to a scratch at insane speed, her panic reached another level, but as she was about to run for help, she felt a pull on her arm.

"Wowowow! Easy! I'm fine, really. They are just scratches, most of them will heal in a few minutes like the rest." He pulled up the part of his shirt and showed her that indeed they were slowly fading away as if they never existed. "But I must admit." A teasing smile formed on his face. "Seeing you so adorable when worried about me is melting my heart~."

She rolled her eyes at him but actually breathed in relief seeing he was okay. "You really must be fine if you can crack jokes in this situation..." Raynare massaged a bridge of her nose, a subtle blush adorned her face after she realized that she had embraced him in front of everyone. 'He even embraced me back...' In any other situation, she would just die from the embarrassment, but right now, she was just glad that he safely returned.

"So? What happened? Did Ophis attack you?" Asked Raynare.

Hearing her question, Razjeel made an ugly face and clicked his tongue in annoyance. "I will tell you later at the meeting. Oh, right! I want you to gather Azazel and the rest in my office in a few minutes. I need to change my clothes." He looked at his attire and shook his head sadly. He liked that shirt.

"Fine. But just to be clear. We are not done." She shot him a sharp glare and with crossed arms left the balcony and then his room.

"Why is she so angry about it? Even if I told her she wouldn't come with me, I wouldn't give her permission. And who was I supposed to send? Ophis could have killed them on spot, but with me she is familiar. And fuċkɨnġ red crocodile..." Razjeel started mumbling under his nose in annoyance.. This was everything he wanted to tell a few minutes ago, but he knew that if he would, Raynare wouldn't stop ranting about it.
