“Now, let’s go in.”
When the wyverns had sufficiently wet their throats, Adelaide straightened her bent back and turned to Lisianthus and Raham.
Raham seemed to be proud of Adelaide’s good deeds even though she couldn’t see his face, but Lisianthus’ lips were stiff as if he was somehow dissatisfied. It seemed that he was displeased with her wasting her energy for monsters unrelated to her, especially wyverns owned by competing dungeon owners who might even wage war someday.
“Yes, Master. Let’s go this way.”
But instead of pointing this out, he guided her with a smooth voice. It’s not that Lisianthus didn’t know this about her. One of Adelaide’s charms was her kindness that didn’t discriminate against anyone. He got jealous when that kindness wasn’t directed towards him, but he shouldn’t make it obvious.
Adelaide, who was glancing at Lisianthus, saw that he was smiling and relaxed. Then she followed his instructions and walked into the building.
The interior of the large building was so glamorous that it made people gasp. The floor and walls were all made of glittering gold, and the chandelier hanging from the ceiling was also studded with brilliant jewels.
Not only that, but the large paintings adorning the long hallway and various sculptures also looked very expensive, even to her who did not have an eye for art.
‘Why did you spend so much money on a place just for a meeting?’
Adelaide couldn’t help but be astonished at the building’s luxurious appearance, to which the Boraca Dungeon paled in comparison. How much did that one big jewel cost?
Would they notice if I take just one? Greed rose but she held it in. She glanced at the sparkling jewels and looked at Lisianthus walking ahead of her.
Lisianthus stepped forward without hesitation. It must have been his first time coming here, but it was surprising how he knew the way so well. Adelaide took a moment when he wasn’t looking, and reached for a large jewel and said.
“Lisian, how do you know the way so well? Have you been here?”
“No. It’s just a basic virtue of a manager.”
Adelaide smirked. This is a basic virtue, and that is a basic virtue. Is there anything that’s not basic? It seemed that to have all the virtues Lisianthus spoke of, one had to be at least a demon king or a god.
“And I think it’s better to leave the jewel alone, Adele. If you touch it, an alarm will go off.”
He didn’t even have to look back to figure out what she was going to do. Adelaide, who was about to grab the large jewel, made excuses by moving her arm quickly to the other side.
“Huh? I was just stretching. Oh there was a jewel here! I didn’t know. That was close.”
“Right, Raham?” She smiled and looked back at Raham.
Raham nodded his head awkwardly. He hadn’t spoken ever since they entered the building. He walked with a stiff gait.
She knew why without even asking. The thought of meeting Shavarma in a little while, the demon he hated the most, and the one who took away the world of his precious woman, must have made him lose his focus.
“Raham…….”
“I’m alright. Don’t worry. Didn’t I promise? I won’t do anything strange and stay quietly by your side.”
Raham read the concerns on Adelaide’s face and answered. But even as he said this, he was not confident inside. Would he be able to look at that face and stay still?
“It’s right in front of us.”
Lisianthus announced that they had arrived. At the end of the hallway was a massive door shining in gold.
Adelaide gulped dry saliva and stared at the door. Inside that place, all of the powerful people from Kronatan were gathered.
“Take a good look and decide. Who do you want to go to war with?”
Before opening the door, Lisianthus whispered in her ear in a low voice. Adelaide nodded her head calmly. As he said, this meeting was also a place to decide who to fight against.
Who will you step on to grab the honor of being a B-Class dungeon? In fact, the answer was already half-set.
Deudeudue-
The golden door began to open with the sound of the ground rumbling. Adelaide raised her head with a cool icy expression on her face.
The first thing she saw was the enormous transparent window. The entire spacious conference room was surrounded by a window, and despite the sunlight pouring in, the room remained cool, perhaps because of magic.
In the middle of the conference room, there was a luxurious round table, and on the table was a table full of well-prepared food.
The number of demons in the room was quite large. It was because there were also demons escorting the dungeon masters and low-level demons hired to serve them.
However, distinguishing them was not at all difficult. They all stood upright behind the table, and only a few demons sat on the chairs. They were level C or higher dungeon masters.
“Let me see your invitation.”
“Here.”
While Lisianthus handed the invitation to the guard, Adelaide looked at the demons sitting around the table with a solemn expression on her face.
Perhaps because they were all dungeon masters from high-ranking dungeons, they looked extraordinary. Most were humanoid demons, and the rest varied from demons three times the size of Adelaide to small demons like fairies.
There was also a familiar face. The unlucky-faced demon with white hair, dark wrinkled skin, and an arrogant impression. It was Shavarma.
Grit. She could hear the sound of Raham grinding his teeth.
“I’ve confirmed it. Please sit this way.”
The guard politely led Adelaide’s group. Adelaide followed his instructions and sat down. It would be nice if Lisianthus and Raham could also sit down. She was sad.
‘What should I say first? It’s my first time, so I’ll start with an introduction, right?’
Adelaide calmed her pounding heart and looked at the situation. It seemed like she was right to prepare her introduction in advance. If she hadn’t memorized it hard last night, she wouldn’t have been able to say anything because she was so nervous. It would be nice to have a cool sounding voice, but it seemed like it would not be easy to maintain it.
However, things turned out differently than she expected. The dungeon masters gathered at the place only looked at Adelaide for a brief moment, but did not speak to her. Instead of saying hello, they were busy talking amongst themselves.
“The wine tastes good, doesn’t it? I imported grapes from Acarium this time…….”
“Ah, I like wine from Acarium because it’s rich and sweet. I was recently at Dathanos…….”
As the conversation that could not be interrupted continued, Adelaide sat idly like an outcast and closed her eyes. She didn’t expect to be welcomed, but she couldn’t believe that she was being blatantly ignored. She was embarrassed. She thought she would at least have time to introduce her name.
Pft. Someone laughed. When she turned her gaze, she saw Shavarma, who was staring at Adelaide and smiling filthily. His brightly shining eyes were filled with ridicule for her.
Lisianthus clenched his fists tightly. How dare you treat Adele this way. His anger grew even more when he remembered Adelaide, who was jumping for joy, saying her seat would shine once she was here.
Raham was also angry. He felt like a chimney, wanting to attack that Shavarma j*rk right away, but he couldn’t. If he did that, he would only make things troublesome for Adelaide. He also promised to Pia that he would not do that.
However, Adelaide did not seem greatly disappointed. Despite the apparent disregard by the other demons, she was neither angry nor embarrassed. She was already familiar with these kinds of situations.
‘It is all the same wherever demons live.’
When she was called the next succubus queen and when she became weak after not working for a long time. There were demons who ignored her whenever and wherever she was.
She had been hurt and had cried because of the ridicule and disregard of others at one point, but not anymore. She knows she has no reason to care about the rude behavior of those who don’t value her.
I have a family now. Remembering their precious faces, Adelaide reached out her hand. She then poured the refreshments from the table into her mouth.
Omnyomnyom. She ate the colorful macarons. They tasted so good her eyes widened with each bite.
‘Oh, this is delicious. I’ll have to ask Lisian to make it for me later!’
Adelaide turned her head to look at Lisianthus and nodded her head up and down. She held up a macaron while doing this, perhaps asking ‘Would Lisian like to eat one too?’. Lisianthus shook his head and whispered “I’m fine” softly.
Ho. Some of the dungeon masters were embarrassed by her attitude and laughed out loud. Shavarma distorted his face with contempt. Adelaide went on eating, paying no attention to the reactions of her surroundings.
“So, you are the owner of Greenville Dungeon, which is said to have become a C-Class this time?”
By the time her stomach was full, someone spoke to Adelaide for the first time.
Adelaide swallowed what she had been chewing on and then lifted her head. She soon saw a beauty that looked like she came straight out of a portrait. A beautiful demon with white curly hair that fell to the small of her back and blue eyes. She even liked her voice. Among the dungeon masters gathered here, she was the only demon who did not send a sharp gaze to Adelaide.
Adelaide took her checkered handkerchief and gracefully wiped her lips. This was also something she practiced before she came to the meeting saying that she would look cool. She answered in a calm voice.
“Yes. I am Adelaide, the owner of Greenville Dungeon.”
“Euk, Greenville Dungeon. What a tacky name.”
“Pu ha ha ha!”
As soon as the words were finished, the attack came. The demons, including Shavarma, laughed while holding their stomachs, saying ‘Greenville huh’. The white-haired demon was silent with a small smile on her lips.
Adelaide slowly rolled her eyes and looked at the demon who said Greenville was unsophisticated.
How dare you insult our dungeon! Of course, she didn’t like the name Greenville, but it was still rude and unacceptable for other demons to curse the Greenville name. She was the only one who had the right to speak ill of Greenville.
‘Large build and red-skin……. C-1 Class, the owner of Kunulf Dungeon, Kunulf.’
She had already checked the information about the demons attending today’s meeting. It was thanks to the summary that Lisianthus made as soon as the invitation arrived.
She rolled up her red lips and smiled brightly at Kunulf. Then she said in a gentle voice.
“Well, I think it’s less tacky than naming the dungeon after yourself. They’re just desperate demons who are overly self-confident even though they are lacking. Like the Boraca Dungeon.”
