S-Class Dungeon's Mistress
Chapter 66
Chapter 66
“Kuack…!”
The adventurer with his body folded in half groaned. And soon after, the body collapsed again. As flat as paper.
Kak Kak. Strange sounds followed.
Adelaide looked at the grotesque scene unfolding before her eyes with a blank expression.
The adventurer’s body was folded and compressed over and over again, and after a while, it became a small ball. A very dark colored ball. What was more cruel was that faint cries leaked out from within that dark and hard thing. It was the voice of the adventurer.
It was physically impossible. However, in the Demon Realm, the laws of physics were often ignored, and the cause of that was…
‘Power.’
Yes, it was clear that someone’s power was being used in front of them. It was also of a very strong kind.
Adelaide moved her eyes and stared at Caladium. He stood behind the adventurer with his hands on his waist. He seemed to be staring at Lisianthus with one eyebrow raised.
It was not the power of Caladium. Adelaide knew instinctively. So whose power was it?
The answer was already out there.
Adelaide turned her gaze back to Lisianthus. He was still staring at her with a picturesque smile on his lips.
“This…”
Adelaide swallowed her saliva. It had been a long time since she felt scared of that friendly face.
“Did Lisian do it?”
“Yes.”
There was no hesitation in Lisianthus’ voice. The beautifully curved corners of his eyes look exactly like a fox’s.
“I did it, Adele.”
He even called her name without the word ‘Master’. No matter how many times she asked him to call her informally, he had always been so stubborn. The sudden change made Adelaide even more confused.
‘How did Lisian…? How do you have such power? Lisian’s power was to make furniture.’
The power that compressed the high level adventurer in an instant was at least an A-Class. He had more than two powers. It was impossible unless you were pretty strong.
Adelaide knew one devil who was capable of all these things. The devil standing in front of her with a pouting expression on his face, Caladium.
Then…
Her pink eyes trembled as she gazed at Lisianthus. To be more precise, the empty space above his head. Lisianthus confirmed her gaze and said with a thin smile on his face.
“You’re smart too.”
He slowly knelt down on one knee. It meant to not be wary, but Adelaide was startled and took a step back.
“What…”
‘What do you mean?’ Just as she was about to ask, a huge amount of energy exploded from Lisianthus. Her long hair was blown by the strong wind and flapped, and Bell, who had transformed into a small puppy, whimpered in Caladium’s arms.
His energy filled the Greenville dungeon in an instant. It was so thick and strong that even though it wasn’t directed at her, goosebumps welled up all over her body. Her limbs were also trembling.
All of the adventurers were weakened by the incredible energy and fell. The demons that belonged to her did not faint thanks to Caladium’s aura of energy, but still, their legs shook as they stared at Lisianthus.
He drove everyone in astonishment but continued to speak in a calm tone, as if it was nothing special.
“As you can see, I am a devil too, Adele.”
“I’ve been for a long time.” Lisianthus added playfully. There were two long horns on his head. His horns were thinner compared to Caladium’s, but they were a little longer. They had a silvery glow around them that felt mysterious, like that of a unicorn.
Adelaide stared blankly at the horns, and did not respond for a long time. He was a colleague whom she thought was only a mid level demon, but was then revealed to be a devil. It was something that would appear in third-rate novels. Even more so that the devil was her manager.
But, facing that tremendous energy and seeing his horns, there was no denying it. This was not a dream but reality.
Adelaide swallowed dry saliva. It was a strange feeling. She was very embarrassed and was unfamiliar with the horned Lisianthus, and strangely, it made her upset.
Did Lisianthus deceive her all this time? Come to think of it, he never said that he was a mid level demon. It was her own assumption, so it was not appropriate to say that he deceived her.
Rather, the more she looked back on her journey with Lisianthus, the more she realized that they just never talked about it, but still, she was pretty pissed off. It was him who saved her from Boraca’s escort Adolf, and he also ignored the devil, Caladium. This was the reason why he repeatedly told her to call him if she was in danger. If only Adelaide had doubted a little, she would have quickly recognized that he was not just a mid level demon.
‘Then there is no reason to be upset.’
Yes, what a waste, she entrusted him with all the cooking and cleaning as the manager! No one would believe that a great devil was treated that way.
Adelaide glanced at him. When she found out who he was, his pretty face looked unfamiliar to her. She felt comfortable with him like family until yesterday, but now it was as awkward as meeting an old colleague she hadn’t seen in decades.
“That…There, I…”
“There’s no need to be polite. Wasn’t I the one who said that the most noble being in this dungeon is Master? You don’t have to be respectful to anyone.”
Lisianthus replied politely. Adelaide’s eyes widened as she looked at him. He revealed that he was a devil, but he wanted things to stay the way they used to be? Why would a devil want that? He wasn’t in a special situation like Caladium.
“But…”
“You just have to treat me the same. Nothing has changed.”
Lisianthus said with a smile. Except for the long horns on his head, he looked no different from before.
‘I guess he really wants things to stay the same.’
Huaa. Without realizing it, a sigh of relief escaped her. Deep down she was worried that her relationship with him would change. Lisianthus was Adelaide’s first colleague in Greenville. She didn’t want there to be awkwardness between them.
“I will surely keep my promise to my master.”
Lisianthus said, staring at her intently. His soothing voice was so sweet that it made her want to nod her head.
Yes, the only change was that there were now two devils who called her Master. Adelaide tried to rationalize like this, but she couldn’t. There were so many things she still didn’t understand. More talk was needed to fully understand and accept this situation.
Lisianthus noticed this and slowly got up.
“Why don’t we talk about the details after we take care of all the adventurers?”
Alas, the adventurers!
It was only then that Adelaide recalled the presence of the adventurers. She was so startled that she forgot what was going on, as she was only looking at Lisianthus.
‘There’s a big problem!’
‘They found out that we have devils!’ Adelaide screamed inside. She thought she only had to watch out for Caladium and didn’t expect that there would be this kind of a variable.
The adventurers fell to the floor and looked in her direction. She could move under the aura of Lisianthus, but she couldn’t say anything.
It was difficult. She had two devils, so killing them wasn’t an issue, but the problem would be after they died. They would come back to life and spread the word about the devils in an E-Class dungeon.
“Don’t worry, Adele. I have a way.”
Lisianthus spoke as if he had read her mind. No, since he was a devil, he might really have mind-reading powers. Just as she thought this, he opened his mouth again.
“By the way, I do not have the ability to read minds.”
‘Lies.’ Adelaide said in her mind.
“Really.”
“Look, there it is!”
“I knew it!” Adelaide added in a loud voice. Lisianthus chuckled.
“I swear, I don’t. It was written on Adele’s face, so I just answered.”
Hearing him laugh slowly eased the tension. It was thanks to the appearance of the Lisianthus she knew. She had nothing to be afraid of. ‘That’s the sweet Lisianthus I know!’ Thinking about it this way made her feel relieved.
“I have no mind-reading powers, but… Memory manipulation is possible.”
The friendly Lisianthus spoke terrifying words with a beautiful expression.
“These weak b*st*rds, I can make them forget about their life and of course, everything that happened here. It will be easy to turn them into idi*ts.”
“How can you smile like that…” Adelaide murmured with a frightened face. Cold sweat ran down her back, thinking she might one day become an idi*t.
But aside from being terrifying, his suggestion was the best way out of this situation. It was much simpler and better than her plan of imprisoning all the adventurers in the room at the end of the dungeon and forcing them to live for 100 years to prevent them from dying. Adelaide quickly adapted to her power as a dungeon master who had two devils working for her.
“Yes, it would be better to manipulate their memories. Oh, could you possibly know why they came into our dungeon?”
“That, I’m sorry, but I don’t have the ability to see their memories.”
“I see. It can’t be helped… What?”
Adelaide opened her eyes and raised her head. She saw a somewhat familiar face among the fallen adventurers.
She slowly stepped forward. She didn’t want to step on the adventurers’ bodies but she accidentally stepped on some hands and legs a few times. The adventurers groaned and let out a suppressed moan. They couldn’t even moan properly as they were still being pressed down by Lisianthus’ energy.
She felt a little guilty because it seemed like she was hurting a defenseless opponent, but that feeling quickly faded away. They were the ones who came to kill her anyway, and they’ll erase their memories, so it didn’t matter. As she thought like this, she continued walking. She squatted down in front of the adventurer who was at the back.
“Hey, you know me don’t you?”
Adelaide asked in a light tone. The adventurer didn’t move, his face was stuck to the floor.
“I’ve already seen your face.”
Smile. She smiled softly as if he was pathetic. Still, the adventurer showed no signs of moving.
“I can’t help it then.” Adelaide, who muttered softly, raised her voice.
“Lisian, please recall your energy. Caladi will control the adventurer’s body. I have a question for him, so please help him up. Oh, and you shouldn’t even try to commit suicide.”
“Uggh…!”
At her words, the adventurer quickly tried to bite his tongue, but his body did not listen. Because Caladium had already used his powers.
The adventurer got up unnaturally and faced Adelaide. It was very ugly to see him with his mouth open to prevent him from biting his tongue.
