Chapter 84

The Skeleton Captain closed his mouth shut and looked away. He had made up his mind to face his death proudly, but he was not confident to face it head-on. Soon, his gaze overlapped with the other Skeletons’ eye sockets.

Boss, you did a great job. In the last life and in this life.

You guys worked hard too.

No conversation was necessary. Just looking into each other’s eye sockets was enough to understand each other’s feelings.

They have been together since long ago, while they were still humans. Although their bodies had rotted away and only the cursed bones remained, the soul inside did not fade at all.

Eventually, the adventurer raised his sword with an indifferent face. A wild energy swirled around the sword.

The Skeletons held each other’s bony hands and closed their eyes. The Durahans’ bodies trembled all over, but they firmly blocked the front of Pia and Raham.

Just when the sharp tip of the sword headed towards the demons.

Bang!

At the sound of a sudden explosion, the adventurer’s head turned at an angle. He stared at the door with squinted eyes. However, even in the midst of that, he did not stop pouring energy into the tip of his sword.

“Done!”

A child’s voice? The adventurer narrowed his eyes. He felt energy nearby. One from a child and another from a humanoid demon.

The demons who were waiting for death opened their mouths in shock.

They obviously locked it, but how the hell did they escape from a B-class magic item? Did someone even open it? The Skeleton Captain became frustrated.

He was going to shout that they shouldn’t come this way, but it was already too late. The door was about to open. At the same time, one demon flew in like an arrow.

Her black hair fluttered like a clear night sky and her pink eyes shone brightly on her small, white face. Adelaide, the owner of Greenville Dungeon, stood in front of the adventurer with her arms wide open.

Eventually, the eyes of the Legend and Adelaide met at a distance.

A swarm of lights burst from the champion’s sword and fell upon her in an instant.

“No!”

The Skeleton Captain exclaimed desperately.

Bell, who followed behind Adelaide into the room, tried to run to her quickly, but was blocked by a great force.

Adelaide stared ahead without blinking an eye.

‘Am I going to die like this? Without being of much help? By this time, the portal should have been installed. It would be nice if the kids could get some time to run away. I hope Lisian doesn’t get too upset later.’

Countless regrets and wishes filled her mind.

Time passed very slowly, perhaps because she thought she was going to die. They said that when people die, the nostalgic memories pass through your mind like a flash. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. It would’ve been nice to see the faces of her precious friends one last time.

Sadly, however, the last thing she saw in her sight was the adventurer standing in a dazzling light.

His face, exposed under his jet-black hair, was unrealistically beautiful. His slender face, thick eyebrows, nose and chin lines were clear, and his eyes were sharp and calm. There was no emotion to be found in his neat mouth, so he was not like a human being.

She felt like she was seeing a reaper who had come to kill her.

‘What…?’

Seeing his chilling blue eyes, she opened her lips involuntarily.

The strange sensation she had felt before hit her skin again. Somehow, those terrifying eyes seemed familiar. Like she had seen them somewhere…

Adelaide stared into his face as if she was possessed. The adventurer also grabbed his sword and fixed his gaze on her.

It was a brief moment, less than a few seconds, but to both of them, it felt like hours.

The adventurer’s lips, which had been tightly closed like a doll’s, slowly opened.

“Finally.”

His voice was so low it was enough to make the hair all over her body stand up.

The energy that had been tightening as if it was going to tear Adelaide into pieces dissipated. At the same time, something hard grabbed her face.

It was the adventurer’s hand.

Adelaide opened her eyes wide in surprise. She thought she was going to die, so she didn’t even think of resisting. She was simply dragged helplessly by his rough hands.

“Finally, I found you.”

She looked at the adventurer in front of her.

His face, which had been expressionless enough to question whether he was a human being, was revealing intense emotions as if it had all been a lie. However, it was difficult to interpret what those feelings were.

The trembling in his blue eyes, as described in the Dungeon Newspaper, was filled with raging hatred, or perhaps resentment mixed with anger. Or, it seemed to contain a completely different kind of emotion. The slightly raised corners of his lips looked sad rather than happy.

Adelaide stopped breathing as the distance between her and the adventurer drew closer to the tip of her nose.

His energy was so strong that it was difficult to breathe properly. As the unexpected happened, her mind went blank. She could not comprehend the situation at all.

Why didn’t the adventurer kill her, and why was he suddenly saying something strange?

“Adela, are you okay?!”

“Let Master go!”

In her dizzy mind, she could hear the voices of her demons. They were briefly relieved that Adelaide was not dead, but when they saw the adventurer gripping her face harshly, they ran wild. However, due to the energy that was placed around Adelaide like a barrier, they could not get close. Bell returned to his true form and frantically struck the barrier with his gigantic feet, but to no avail. His glossy black fur was wet with dripping blood.

Seeing them like that, Adelaide cleared her mind. She didn’t care what the adventurer in front of her had to say. The only thing that mattered was the safety of her demons.

‘The b*stard who killed Caladi…!’

Anger rose to her throat. There was a fireball blazing in her chest. She wanted to kill him right away, but it was not easy to get out of his grasp with just her skills.

Adelaide opened her eyes at the thought that she would not be deceived.

“What’s your purpose?”

She said in a firm voice.

“I’ll listen to anything, so don’t touch my demons.”

She tried to kill her emotions as much as she could so as not to provoke him, but it was difficult to hide the anger that crept through her voice.

When she thought of Caladium, who must have died in vain, her whole body trembled and her teeth clashed.

She wanted to cut off the fingers that were holding her face. However, she, who had no power, had to endure in order to protect her other demons.

“…What?” The adventurer’s picturesque face fiercely distorted.

The gaze staring at Adelaide was as ferocious as that of a hungry beast, and a twisted smile appeared on his lips.

The hand gripping her face grew tighter. The strength of his hand gripping both her cheeks was unbelievable. She instinctively felt fear of her face getting crushed.

“How dare you…”

The adventurer brought his face closer to Adelaide. His blue eyes flashed menacingly.

“…talk like that?”

A harsh voice, as if scratching at her neck, passed through her ears. Adelaide did not know what to do and remained silent at the voice filled with intense hatred.

The adventurer seemed very angry at her words. But she couldn’t figure out why.

If it was just human nature to dislike demons, then she could understand that. But the adventurer acted as if Adelaide had hit him with something. It was just unfair and embarrassing for her to see this from someone she’s meeting for the first time.

“How will you react when we meet again? I spent countless nights imagining it.”

The adventurer sharply gritted his teeth and spoke.

“Would you bow your head and say that you’re sorry, or would you brazenly make excuses with that little mouth of yours, or…”

He frowned and paused for a moment.

When Adelaide’s face came into view, eyebrows furrowed as if she had no clue what was happening, he tightened his grip on his sword. Veins appeared on his white skin.

“I imagined it like that again and again, but I never thought of such a reaction.”

“Not once.” Growled the adventurer.

“What are you…”

Adelaide glared at the unfamiliar adventurer and struggled to escape from his grasp. Even with all her might, his hand did not move. It felt like facing a huge mountain.

“What, did you forget me?”

He spit it out, word by word.

“What kind of…”

‘What kind of b*llsh*t!’ Adelaide tried to shout, but she couldn’t. It was because her mouth was blocked.

She didn’t understand the situation for a moment, and blinked her eyes.

The adventurer’s monster-like eyes were right in front of hers. His cold skin brushed the tip of her nose, and she felt a soft touch on her lips.

The adventurer kissed her on the lips.

He stared at Adelaide intently, roughly opening her lips and stealing her breath. That movement, without the slightest consideration, was more like hunting than a kiss. Sharp teeth bit her lip, and the pointy tip of his tongue stabbed her soft flesh.

“Eup…!”

‘You crazy b*stard!’ Adelaide spit harsh swear words inwardly.

There was no way someone would do something like this unless they were crazy.

She tried to turn her head away somehow, but it was impossible because he held her chin tightly.

On the contrary, the more she struggled, the harsher the kiss became. He eagerly licked and sucked her tongue. He curled his thick eyebrows in anger and continued kissing her tenaciously as if he did not want to miss a single breath.

In the end, Adelaide chose the second best option.

Bite!

Her teeth mercilessly bit his tender flesh. The taste of fishy blood quickly spread.

The adventurer, whose tongue had been bitten, didn’t even blink his eyes. He just furrowed his eyebrows briefly.

He slowly opened his mouth, bit her lips and smiled.

“You’re weak. It makes me question whether you are the one you used to be.”

“Crazy, crazy b*stard…!”

Adelaide breathed heavily. There was intense anger in her eyes.

“Yeah, that’s better.”

“Rather than pretending you don’t know anything, that’s how you should curse.” He whispered as if satisfied.

The way he smiled languidly with his blood-stained lips seemed really crazy.
