Second Marriage: My Strongest Bodyguard

Chapter 234 - Bryana Returns To Her Senses

At midnight to be exact at 00:30 a.m, Dean was still sitting beside Bryana's bedside. He fell asleep and finally woke up remembering the state of his son premature and still weak. he remembered, when Sofia was a baby, only he and his mother looked after her every night if she was fussy.

"I have to make sure he's okay," Dean said, getting up from the chair. He leaned in to kiss Bryana's forehead and said, "I'm going out for a bit to see how our son is doing."

Dean immediately walked out of the room to the NICU room which was located not too far from the recovery room after the C-section. He walked a few meters down the hospital corridor which looked very quiet, there were several bodyguards on guard in front of the baby room and its surroundings.

"What is it, sir?" Franky asked as he watched Dean walk into the NICU room.

"It does not matter. I just want to make sure my son's condition," Dean answered flatly then opened the door to the room and saw the nurse who was calming his crying baby by cradling him, then giving him milk little by little using a pipette.

Dean approached the nurse who was calming the baby. "Is he all right?" he asked worriedly.

"Yes sir. he needs his mother's milk for his immunity, because breast milk is better than any formula milk," explained to the nurse as she continued to rock the baby in a blanket and a special white baby hat.

Dean nodded then understood and looked pityingly at his son who looked so tiny and cute. 'Jill needs to wake up and feed him. He also needs a warm hug from her ..,' he thought then walked back out of the room.

Dean returned to Bryan's room. He sat on the chair beside his wife's bed and held her hand. "Honey... Wake up. Our baby needs you. He cries of thirst and you should breastfeed him, hug him, rock him...," he said sadly.

Bryana was still silent without giving any response at all until Dean almost gave up and crouched on the edge of the bed.

until a few minutes passed, Bryana began to move slowly to the right and left, slowly opening her eyes and staring at the ceiling. She was silent remembering the events that happened just before she was unconscious.

"Dad..." Bryana mumbled when she remembered how her father always hugged her when the car that was carrying her lost control and crashed in various directions until she and her father fell in the car seat, hit several times, and finally lost consciousness.

Bryana turned to look down at her stomach which turned out to be no longer pregnant. She was surprised and immediately glanced at Dean who was bowed beside her "Honey... Where is my son? Is he born yet? Isn't it time yet?"

Dean who fell asleep woke up and looked relieved when Bryana woke up. But the relief became alarmed when his wife started to panic and searched for her baby impatiently.

"Where is my baby? When did I give birth, why is my stomach...." Bryana was suddenly dizzy trying to remember whether she had given birth to her baby. Her breath hitched and she touched her bandaged stomach, making her realize that it was as if she had undergone C-section.

"Sweetheart, calm down," Dean called, touching Bryana's shoulder. "You did have a cesarean delivery because of an emergency."

"Gosh. I'm only eight months pregnant, and how's our baby doing?" Bryana asked as fear began to well up in her heart. Hope, the answer from her husband is good news.

"He's fine," Dean replied with a reassuring smile. "Now he is in the NICU room and he needs you. I just saw him crying for milk," he continued, turning sad.

Bryana breathed a sigh of relief and felt so sick to hear about her newborn baby crying because he needed milk. The woman could not imagine how her baby must be born at an inopportune time because of the incident. she looked at her husband expectantly and said, "please take me to his room. I want to breastfeed him, I want to see him. He is healthy, right? Maybe he is too small?"

"I'd better call the doctor to check on you first. Wait a minute," Dean shouted then walked out of the infirmary. He asked Franky who was on guard near the room to immediately call the doctor, after which he returned to see Bryana who was still panicking and feeling anxious or traumatized.

Bryana sat in silence, thinking back to Calvin and Monica who were brought into the old building. She was so worried about them, then looked at Dean who came back to her. "Honey, did you and Raymond manage to help Calvin and Monica?" She asked anxiously.

"They're safe, even at home. God is with us, we're all safe," Dean replied, sitting on the edge of the bed right next to Bryana. He hugged his wife from the side, then kissed her forehead. "I was so scared. Today feels so long and so torturing my heart."

Bryana nodded and remembered how she had been silenced until she realized she was already in the car, then separated from Calvin and Monica to witness the argument between her father and Gustave.

"It turns out that Gustave didn't do all this because of money," Bryana whispered, bending her face.

"Then?" Dean looked down at Bryan.

"He wants me to have the same fate as Clarissa, he also doesn't want to see you with me because you are Clarissa's love," Bryana explained sadly.

Dean sighed, then rubbed Bryana's shoulder. "Revenge only causes destruction, and Gustave has no right to get in the way of our relationship even though I do love Clarissa."

"What if Clarissa acts like her father doesn't like our relationship?" Bryan asked.

"She has accepted our relationship, she convinced me to be husband and father to our children. She trusts you to be a good mother to Sofia," Dean explained, remembering when he was suddenly visited by Clarissa at church. to him, it was like a directive from God that he got.

"Don't make it up. She's dead, how did she tell you that?" Bryana looked at Dean in surprise.

"He came to see me. Maybe this will feel very impossible and you will think I'm crazy, but that's what happened. She came and comforted me when I was crying because I was afraid of losing you," Dean said while imagining the moment at church.

Bryana looked taken aback. "Really? You were met by her?"

"Yes. I was crying in church, and suddenly she was beside me, comforting me and asking me to be a good husband to you as her cousin. She admits that she is your cousin. And... Her face does look very much you."

Bryana is silent and understands what Dean is telling may be true. She looked up at her husband and touched his jaw. "That means we shouldn't be apart no matter what. And I…I hope that someday or whenever I want to meet her even if only in a dream. Because it hurts so bad knowing that she's a cousin I never met."

"It's all because of Gustave, and now he's dead," Dean said sadly.

"Die? you mean… Gustave died?" Bryana tried to understand.

"Yes. He died on the spot during the accident. Lucas ran away. and now he is in the process of preparing for burial tomorrow. because I don't know any of his family, I asked Dany to take care of the funeral with the hospital," Dean explained as he brushed Bryana's hair which was a little tangled.

Bryana heaved a sigh of relief but also felt sad that Gustave had died in a state of vengeance that overtook her heart. She was also sad because Sofia would miss her grandfather. As bad as he was, that man was Clarissa's father, Sofia's grandfather, and also her uncle.

Check

The doctor and several nurses entered the room where Bryana was being treated.. Dean immediately got out of bed and let the doctor examine his wife while he stood staring, hoping there were no problems or worrying injuries from the accident.
