It was his cell phone, on the side of his bed. The sound made him slightly jump, and his head turned to look at it. Even from a couple feet away, he could see the name: Mom. That in itself was highly unusual, as she almost never called during the day, unless it was an emergency. And of all times, why did it have to be now???

Stephen looked back up at the genie, and she was wearing the same look of disappointment as he was. "Do you need to get that?"

"Let me see what she wants. She never calls me during the day when she's working," said Stephen, sheepishly.

She smiled at him, but moved to the side of the bed so he could reach his phone. Stephen slid closer, grabbed it with one hand, and pressed 'Answer'.

"Hey Mom," he greeted, trying not to focus on the very naked, very sexy genie lying on his bed.

"Stephen, I need your help. Your grandfather fell again," his mother began, her voice low and serious.

"Oh no," he answered, "Is he okay?"

"He sounds like he's in a lot of pain. Would you go over there and check on him? At least he fell inside the house this time, but I just need to make sure he's okay. I'm stuck here or I would go myself."

"Yeah, absolutely, I'll go right now," replied Stephen.

"Thank you so much, sweetie. I'm sorry to do this to you on your day off," she replied, with a measure of care in her voice.

"Not anything we can control, Mom. I'll go over and check on him and let you know as soon as I can."

"Thank you, sweetie. Text me when you know more. Bye!"

"Bye mom," he finished, hanging up the call. He turned to face the genie, and noticed she had a very serious expression on her face, suggesting she must have listened to the call.

"Do you need to go?" She asked.

"Yeah, unfortunately. I need to make sure he's okay," he replied, sliding his fingers through his hair.

"I understand perfectly. Just wish it was better timing," she smiled.

"Trust me, that was the first thing I thought of," he cracked a small smile.

She began to look around his room, and then spoke her thoughts, "Do you want me to just stay here? Or should I be doing something until your return?"

Stephen thought about her question for a moment and then shook his head, "Why don't you come with me?"

Her eyes raised to his immediately. "You want me to come with you?"

"Yeah, of course," he smiled. "At least for the ride over there. I'm not sure how I'm going to explain you just yet, so I might need your disappearing powers again when I'm with him. But we can still talk telepathically, right?"

She sat upright in bed, with a big smile on her face, "Yes, we definitely can! I'd love to go with you!"
