Shield Hero With Barrier Magic

(Hiro's POV)

We are currently walking towards apothecary. I made some medicines supposedly for the Wave. I am just going to sell them in there.

I got two children... I mean, a double-yolk egg from the slave tent. I wonder how they will look when they grow up. I wonder what their gender is. Will it be two boys? Two girls? A boy and a girl? Will they look similar or different? Damn, I feel like a husband whose wife is about to give birth! I am excited and frustrated at the same time. I turned to the girls.

Hiro: "What do you prefer as the genders of the birds?"

Eclair: "Both boys."

Rino: "A boy and a girl."

Raphtalia: "Both girls."

Wow, all of them have different opinions.

Eclair: "You already have enough girls on your side."

Apothecary: "The magic shop owner wants you to stop by."

Hiro: "Magic Shop?"

Eclair: "It sells books that help in learning magic spells. It's right on the main street."

Rino: "Magic shop? Let's go, Hiro-sama!"

It looks like Rino is really excited. Well, she is a witch after all. Once we went to the shop, an old lady about the same age that of Aunt Elaria greeted us. She has an outfit of a witch.

Magic Shop Owner: "Oh! The Shield Hero! I have to thank you for saving my grandchild."

Hiro: "It's my p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, ma'am. I heard you are looking for me?"

I looked around the shop. The shelves were lined with old, dusty books, and there were a number of crystal balls lined up behind the counter. There were some staves and wands around... pretty much what you would expect for a magic shop.

Magic Shop Owner: "Yes, the girls behind you are your companions, right?"

Hiro: "Yep."

She went and brought over a crystal ball and made us test our magic affinities. I am recovery and support. Raphtalia is light and shadow. Rino is wind and shadow. It seems that Eclair has a little bit of fire affinity.

Magic Shop Owner immediately brought the books related to them.

Rino: "Hurray! More spells!"

Rino quickly took the book related to wind magic and went through it.

Magic Shop Owner: "I would actually like to give you the crystal but I would be out of business if I did that."

Ah, right. The crystal balls. It seems that you can instantly learn magic if the magic inside the crystal ball is freed. Quite a while ago, many balls were brought to Melromarc but Trash made sure that I don't get mine. Well, I don't care about it though.

I took the book related to support magic and read it a bit.

Magic Shop Owner: "You can read?"

Eclair immediately started blushing. I smiled looking at that.

The basic magic in the book is 'First Heal'. I heard a little bit about magic during Rino's training. I think I can give this a try. I made a small cut on my left hand and said the chant.

Hiro: "First Heal."

Light covered my right hand and the wound on the left hand vanished itself.

Hiro: "It works."

I look at the magic shop owner and girls who are looking at me with their mouths open.

Hiro: "What?"

Rino: "Hiro-sama... Do you know that it took a whole day for me to conjure my first spell?"

Hiro: "Really? It isn't that hard to understand, right?"

I went through another spell and chanted it. It worked. Well, it isn't that hard to understand.

Magic Shop Owner: "Are you sure you didn't use a crystal?"

Hiro: "I didn't."

Magic Shop Owner: "You can be considered a genius, Shield hero."

Raphtalia: "Hehehe... Daddy's really something."

Eclair: "I see... No wonder you were so versatile in the past."

We took the books and I insisted on paying the minimum amount for it. The Next Wave is in 45 days. And there is a lot to do in these 45 days. And so, we went to the weapons shop. Aunt Elaria is also present there.

We explained the whole situation to them.
