Maebi ninjato came in between the beast's teeth blocking it in between. The beast bounced back as a hindrance had come between him and his prey.

Klautz smirked.

'She indeed is a talent.'

The protector needs to know when their client is in danger and only then come in between. Coming in between anytime else would only hamper her clients progress.

Such were the teachings that were passed to ninjas but it would be done years from now. But Maebi? She was adaptable. She got used to the situation fast and was now actively protecting Klautz in such instances.

Klautz focused on the two serpents at hand trying his best to fend them off. He didn't want another unblockable attack on him.

He had to kill the beasts himself otherwise he wouldn't get a stat drop. Maebi was just there to protect him, not for anything else. If she did even a little bit of damage to the beast Klautz won't be getting a stats to drop anymore/

Maebi understood that so she mostly stood out of the battle after Klautz instructions.

She was held in awe when Klautz had told her to.

'How does he know of the mechanics?' That was what she thought. Most newbies don't know how monsters and stat drop works. Hell! Even the hells folk have not been able to properly discern the probabilities of every monster! It was only a few monsters that they had collected data on.

'And it was highly random.'

"One beast fell three left"

Having just gulped down stamina potion Klautz was at the height of his stamina! Already defeating 17 of these Ice serpents he had got stats to his name too!

He was not as much pushed by a single Ice serpent as he was before.

But alas, the cuts and injuries that Klautz had gone were taking time to heal. Klautz could only wrap clothes around them as he could not afford to use the [Amethyst Stone] in front of Maebi!

He was willing to give away his strength for more stats. But he wasn't willing to give away his cards.

His stats would be discerned sooner and later.

"And honestly there was no point. There are many people stronger than me."

But it was a different scenario when it came to his hidden cards. Every hidden card that Klautz possessed was a treasure that hell had never seen before! His whole body was gilded with mysteries. And it is these treasures that when used right will make a life and death difference.

There were many people stronger than him for sure but no one possessed the things that he had.

"I can't trust Maebi nor Akihiko"

Akihiko is driven by his madness for strength and Maebi at the moment is Akihiko's loyal dog. Both of them are good for making bets but not for revealing secrets.

Klautz pierced the same place time and time again of the beast he had got on top of! The other beast tried to save its brother but to no avail!

Klautz kicked the serpent every time the other one tried to attack!

"Hisss!"

Thanks to the pain it could only move in the direction Klautz pulled it. He was riding the serpent as if he were riding a bull! The serpent wriggled and churned to get Klautz off it but to no avail! Only death could serve as its release.

*Slash* *Slash*

"Hiss!"

Blood had started to ooze out of it. It had become easier for Klautz to pierce its scales after the stat additions.

It was then…

Klautz felt a chill on his hand. His instincts were ringing like a bell.

'Something is wrong.'

His eyes bulged wide. His hair stood up as he got super aware of the surroundings around him. It is then that he noticed. Icicles were forming in the air around the other serpent's mouth.

'It is going to use its breath!" Klautz claimed.

He kicked the serpent below him and raised his using all of his strength. The Serpent too responded to its call as its face faced high up in the sky.

"Hiss!"

The Ice Breath was shot aimed at Klautz. But alas it hit the serpent he was riding on. It hit its neck! Klautz was using it as his meat shield. Before the serpent could realize it, it was hitting its own brother.

Klautz could feel a chillness sweeping over his whole body as the mist started to form around him making him invisible. Klautz didn't let go of the chance and healed himself up using the [Amethyst Stone].

But the mist didn't last long.

"His!"

The serpent moved in pain as it cleared the mist around it. Klautz removed the [amethyst Stone] to his inventory, He had got just enough time to heal but minor scratches. The Amethyst Stone was rather slow for a SS class.

Klautz kept on slashing. With beasts that are almost equal to his strength. This was the only way to kill them. Slowly but steadily chip on their health.

But it worked either way. The serpents couldn't kill Klautz easily either. Klautz skin was as tough as their scales! They could only hope to slowly chip away on his health or stamina and kill him!

"Hiss!!"

The serpent Klautz was riding on died with a scream. It had taken too much damage.

"Tsk," Klautz clicked his tongue. There was no stat drop this time. While Klautz might have been just unlucky, this time it was a different reason!

Killing intent emanated from Klautz's body as it engulfed the last serpent alive! It was because of it that Klautz had missed the stat.

It can't be denied that some of the damage dealt with the serpent was done by its own brother! That is why Klautz had no chance of gaining a stat. It is only when you completely obliterate a beast alone that you have a chance to get a stat drop.
