Silverhart Online

51 Arcane Physique

Lost on his thoughts, Gray assumed a look of seriousness about him being revealed to be actually someone akin to some sort of a chosen one in this world.

'So, I'm this Paragon. No wonder the gods seemed to be eager to talk to me.' The elf thought. 'But despite having such legendary status as what Agveyr implies, I'm still currently weak, I should tread lightly from this point forth in my future actions to come.'

While Gray seemed to be in deep contemplation, he was interrupted by Agveyr.

\"Now, let's get down to another reason of why I summoned you here.\" The God of War states without delay. \"As you might have deduced from what I have said about your destiny of saving or dooming the mortal plane of Silverhart, plans for terrible darkness are currently ongoing, thus the need to invoke the sacred ritual, which we call the Covenant of Souls, to call upon you for your needed assistance. One might say that you'll be our emissary in this endeavor, representing us for the preservation of the world that you now come to live.\"

\"Covenant of Souls?\" The Paragon uttered with a surprised look. \"It's the same name as my skill!\"

\"Indeed.\" Agveyr nods. \"Anyways, I've called you here to grant you one of my boon, a gift for a mortal whose fate is already predetermined as prescribed in the grimoire.\"

This time, Gray held a sheer look of excitement, completely thrilled at what a War God like him has to offer.

'If being a Paragon entitles me to such benefits, then heck yeah!! I'm game to this destiny crap and shenanigans or whatever, hehe.' Gray thought as he could not help but beamed mentally at the prospect of receiving another benefit in person by a Divine. 'I wonder what is it this time? Another artifact perhaps?'

\"I can see through your look that you truly are eager in what gift I'm going to grant.\" Agveyr merely chuckles at the Paragon's enthusiastic expression. \"Then await no further mortal!!!\"

The God of War gestures Gray to come closer as the latter did so. Much to the elf's confusion, Agveyr touches Gray's forehead.

A burst of unfamiliar memories suddenly invaded inside Gray's mind as his eyes glow in a bright violet.

And no, the elf was not feeling in pain, contrary in fact.

He only felt nothing but unadulterated pleasure in the whole process.

Gray definitely felt something has shifted within his body, as if he was engulfed in a surge of extraordinary strength, causing him to become stronger as each second passes by.

After the phenomenon has finally ended, Gray felt a massive boost of power right in his system.

Strangely, it was on the physical side, as if he could even match his cat-folk companion, Isamu in the strength department.

\"What the?\" The Paragon could not help but feel at awe at what he is feeling at this very moment. \"What happened to me? I feel as if I can now throw a decent punch.\"

\"I've granted you knowledge lost throughout the ages since the era of old,\" Agveyr stated with his arms crossed. \"A magic pioneered by one of your race. Despite being a Mage, he was also a true Warrior, both body and heart, utilizing the embodiment of magic to aid him in physical combat. Thus, he was one of the honored mortals that I considered a friend. I pray that you use his knowledge for the betterment of the people in the mortal plane, not for its defilement. Doing so constitutes insulting his memory and honor.\"

SKILL UNLOCKED:

(Passive) – A unique magic of the elves from the era of old. There are mages who honed their magical arts for the augmentation of their physical and martial capabilities. Channeling Arcane Energy with utmost precision throughout the entirety of their bodies instinctively, they become menacing figures on the battlefield, even on par with the strongest of Warriors. Many believed that this art is lost forever, thus merely fading into myths and speculations. The skill automatically grants physical power based on your magical power. As such, the Intelligence attribute now gains the same benefits of the Strength attribute, including physical damage, the attribute requirements in equipment, and Strength checks.

SKILL UNLOCKED: ,

(Active) (Lvl 1, 0%) - The Mage imbues his weapon with Arcane Energy, dealing weapon damage plus 3% of Mana as additional Magic damage. CD: 5 seconds. Mana cost: 412

(Active, Sustained mode) (Lvl 1, 0%) - The Mage conjures a shield within his skin to negate against most of the physical or magical elements that dare to harm him, granting 60% damage resistance at the cost of the reduced damage received as Mana. Upon activating this skill, it reduces your max mana by 15% until deactivation.

Upon reading the description of the skills, Gray's eyes widen with extreme astonishment.

This indeed looks almost similar to the Arcane Warrior Specialization of Dragon Age: Origins or perhaps the Might/Sorcery build from Kingdom of Amalur as what Gray also deduced.

'Oh…my...fucking...Wynather.' The elf thought with bewilderment. 'This seems incredibly overpowered no matter what angle I look at!! With these skills, coupled with my never-ending Mana boosts from and Mana sustenance from , , and , as well as my innate racial Magic Resistance, I can tank damage at a decent rate and not fall easily in battle despite being a Mage. Not to mention, I am now capable of equipping armors as long as I fulfilled the Strength requirement which is now my Intelligence. Hehe, very awesome indeed.'

\"I thank you for this, Lord Agveyr.\" Gray assumed a smirk as he bowed down with utmost appreciation.

\"As long as you fulfill your bargain as per intended by the strands of fate.\" Agveyr merely nods in response with a smile. \"Before we end this meeting of ours, there are still unfinished matters that we… you have to partake.\"

\"And that is?\" Gray asks with interest, especially curious by how Agveyr said the word, 'you'.

Agveyr then shifted his attention away from the Paragon and turns to look at the platoon of Warriors with an unimpressed look, most notably at the dwarven leader.

\"I have heard about how you and your band of mischief have provided a much… unneeded welcome for our guest here, qualities unfitting of warriors in my ranks. After all, I have eyes all over this plane. Such foolish actions deserve punishment, don't you say?\"

The dwarf Vakrean gulps with fear, his entire demeanor trembling at the prospect of retribution that is to be granted by their lordship, a godly being also feared for his brutality and cruelty to the ones who he deemed that is in the wrong.

The platoon behind also shares the same sentiments with their leaders, hoping that their lordship will be menial in his judgment.

\"Instead of me administering to your retribution,\" Agveyr said to them. \"I'll let the Paragon here decide your fate. After all, he's the one that you have offended, so it is only right that I grant him the authority on my behalf.\"

\"Me?\" Gray asks in clarification, not sure if he is willing to be given an act of jurisdiction in such affairs.

\"Of course.\" The God of War grins widely. \"You are the Paragon, a being that will be either be lookup with the reverence of the people as they worship at the very ground that you walk, or perhaps fear as the people shall tremble with terror at your wake, realizing their insignificance as you bathe them with the same amount of horror just like your enemies. Most of the Paragons adhere to the first choice while the few others only caused damnation, even more so than their adversaries that they are supposed to quell. Of course, the latter group of Paragons met their gruesome end either by assassination or rebellion by the people that they are supposed to protect. As such, you will have subordinates who will follow and support throughout your endeavors willingly or unwillingly. You may have a destiny to fulfill but the actions on how you are going to accomplish it are entirely up to you. I wanted to see the true extent of how well you are going to administer your judgment in this situation, merely a glimpse of the future days to come if I might say.\"

Gray simply nods as he somehow understands the god's logic.

Turning his attention at the platoon, a sinister smirk suddenly graces forth into the elf's face, an expression that causes the platoon to tremble in utmost fear.

\"Hehehe, you bastards, you definitely are going to pay.\" The Arcanist chuckled darkly much to the frightful looks of the warriors, most especially the archer who seemed to be the most scared-looking out of the group, with him doing the deed directly by shooting an arrow at the Paragon's knee.

They can only hope that the new Paragon is a merciful individual in par with Nevarath himself.
