Chapter 5 The Class Party

My name is Liu Ming—a high school graduate.

I am wondering why we should have a class party each time we graduate.

Elementary school. . .

Middle school. . .

And now high school. . .

It is always torture, but you can’t escape it.

Monkey Sun—his real name was Sun Yun—was my close friend since the first year of high school. We skipped the self-study in the morning together, and then the evening self-study. We were always a good team.

However, he is Diamond 3, and I am only Bronze 5.

This time Monkey dragged me to the class party, and I couldn’t refuse a close friend’s invitation, though it was totally outside of my interests.

They chose the Taoyuan Hotel as the location. In our city, Taoyuan Hotel was very famous; its background was wonderful; however, the prices were rather lower compared to other hotels. So it was always the students’ preference.

When I arrived, I found most of my classmates were already there. While I was feeling a little too shy to join them, I saw Ou Yang.

Since last time, when I helped her teach her ex a lesson, I hadn’t been back to the bar. And I didn’t meet her after that.

I never thought I would meet her here. Soon I remembered that I owed her money for changing the name.

Then I touched my pocket, and again, turned awkward. This time, like last time, I didn’t have any money.

Anyway, I still had Monkey Sun.

“Monkey, do you have fifty Yuan?” I called out to him loudly.

Monkey, who was talking with some classmates, heard my voice and he lifted his head toward me. “Yeah, why?”

“Lend it to me. I will repay you when I go home,” I said without any shame.

Monkey Sun was a little angry with this request. “You’re so brazen. I paid your game fees for three years. And you still want to borrow money from me? Are you joking with me? Come and take the money.” Monkey Sun passed me the money while he complained.

I smiled and then rushed toward Ou Yang. “Wait for a moment. I’ll be right back.”

Ou Yang looked like she was attending a class party similar to ours. But I was not sure if she was with her high school classmates or college classmates.

“Hey, Ou Yang, long time no see.” I patted her shoulder and spoke as if we were old friends.

Then she turned to me, and smiled.

What an amazing smile!

“Hey, it’s you. What a coincidence! Why are you here?” Ou Yang kept her dream girl smile all the way.

I touched my head and replied, “Eh, I just have a dinner with my classmates. Hey, this is the money I owe you from last time.” I gave her the money.

Hearing my words, Ou Yang took a look at my classmates’ table, and then smiled again. “Never mind. I should thank you for the help.”

“Hey, I should’ve guessed what you needed the money for. So you borrowed my money to chase a girl.” At this time, a very bad supplementary instruction interrupted us.

It was Monkey Sun.

“Why are you talking nonsense?” I asked him worriedly.

At that moment, Monkey Sun had already reached out his hand to Ou Yang and introduced himself. “Hey, beauty, I am a friend of Bascard. My name is Sun Yun, but you can call me Handsome Sun.”

When I saw Monkey getting ahead of himself, I felt my head spin. “Hey, that’s enough! Sorry, Ou Yang, this is my friend Sun Yun.”

But Ou Yang didn’t care about my words, however; she turned to me with some interest, asking, “Bascard? Sounds interesting!”

Monkey Sun should be appointed the weakest teammate of the year.

When I tried to explain, suddenly one of our classmates yelled toward us, “Hey, Bascard, Monkey, what are you doing there? Come back over here and talk with us.”

Gosh!

So I had no chance to explain.

Ou Yang’s smile became even more bright, and she laughed as she praised me, saying, “Hey, Bascard, that sounds cool!”

I gave a bitter smile. “We call each other that for fun. Don’t take it serious.”

Ou Yang nodded, but her smile showed me that she really liked the nickname.

Before I could chat with her anymore, I was taken back by Monkey to our table.

Compared to Ou Yang, a distant and unreachable beauty, Monkey thought that Lu Li was better.

Yes, Lu Li.

She was our class flower. Though she was not as beautiful as Ou Yang, she was pure and pretty, like a lotus.

All the males in our class had some thoughts about her—all except me. As a LOL player, I always thought that a girlfriend was less important than the game.

For sure, the word “all” included Monkey Sun.

In fact, the class party’s backbone was Monkey Sun. He and Lu Li applied for two different universities. If he didn’t use this party to confess to her, they would be separated.

So when I went back to our table, a weird feeling came over me. Everybody looked at us with strange eyes.

Then, a slightly chubby girl named Chen Hui abruptly said, “So, Monkey and Bascard are true loves?”

After saying this, she turned to Lu Li.

Soon I understood what she meant.

Everybody knew that Monkey Sun had some feelings for Lu Li, but Lu Li looked like she didn’t care about him, nor did she react to him. She was always like a docile girl.

Hearing this comment by Chen Hui, Monkey Sun suddenly became shy, and his face grew red. I couldn’t believe that he was having such a moment.

Could Chen Hui’s guess be correct? The true love of Monkey had always been . . .

Oh no. . .  I don’t want this to turn into Brokeback Mountain.

“Hey, don’t say unwarranted things like that, Chen Hui. Why don’t you say that your true love is Bascard?” Monkey Sun gave me an answer that confirmed my worries could be safely laid to rest, but his reply threw me into another trap of speculation.
