Special District 9

Chapter 11: Your Hands Snapped Before They Could Cover the Sky

Qin Yu didn’t waste any time chatting with Third Uncle. He rushed forward and smashed his gun on the latter’s head as Zhu Wei put a pair of handcuffs on him.

“Quick, let’s go!” Qin Yu tugged Third Uncle along with hastened footsteps as he shouted at his men below, “There’s no need to go after the small fries. Leave right after you have captured our targets. There’s no time to be wasted here!”

While he was speaking, Qin Yu and Zhu Wei had already dragged Third Uncle out of the store. Outside, the suppressed Ma Lao-er bit down on Qi Lin’s hand as if a wild beast as he hollered, “Those bunch from the Police Bureau are back!”

A commotion broke out on the streets. The medicine peddlers around immediately took out their weapons and rushed out, but Qin Yu was already prepared for this. Seeing that Ma Lao-er was going to talk once more, he slapped the latter’s mouth with the butt of his gun.

Yowch!

Ma Lao-er immediately rolled around the ground in pain as he spat out two front teeth. At the same time, a bloodied wound was inflicted on his lips too.

“Leave by the side!” Qin Yu said as he dashed through an alley between the stores before ushering the others along. “Stop dilly-dallying! 5 kg of the goods is enough to sentence them to the death penalty, why the heck are you carrying the whole box? Did water get into your head?”

Upon hearing those words, the squad member quickly put down the box and took out two bags of medicine from within before dashing through the alley to the back too.

On the main street, a huge crowd was starting to form. Dozens of people were dashing right at them.

Bang bang bang!

Qin Yu aimed three shots toward the crowd, but they still refused to scatter. As if madmen, they continued to charge forward, and some of them even shot their guns to retaliate too.

“Heck, these medicine peddlers really don’t want their lives anymore!” Seeing that he couldn’t suppress them with a gun, he immediately turned around and fled.

Ten seconds later, right after passing through the alley, they heard the sharp screeching of brakes.

“Get on!” Jabi and Little Sixth opened the car doors and shouted at them.

Qin Yu and the others dared not to stay on for even a moment longer. They pushed Ma Lao-er and Third Uncle into the police cars before squeezing in together with them.

The policemen of the Black Street Sector used two different types of cars. One was a seven-seater jeep and the other was a five-seater pickup truck with a cargo bed. As for police sedans, those were the entitlement of high-ranking officials such as Superintendent Li. One would never see them in usual patrols.

(Cargo bed refers to the open area behind trucks where you usually load stuff on.)

In this era, what was more important was utility as opposed to appearance. There weren’t too many resources for one to put on a pretty image. However, it was also fortunate that the police cars had greater utility—at the very least, they could sit at the cargo bed behind as well. Or else, they wouldn’t have been able to squeeze so many people in.

Weng!

After everyone got in the vehicles, Jabi and Little Sixth stepped on the accelerator to the limits as they sped through Dirt Street with the fastest speed possible.

While the two vehicles were racing forth, relentless gunshots sounded behind. The vehicles were inflicted with numerous punctures, and the two Thai brothers of Squad 3, due to being seated in the back of the pickup truck, ended up suffering certain degrees of gun damage.

“Goddamnit, there’s no need to hold back at all. If anyone blocks our way, crash right through them!” Qin Yu shouted from the cargo bed.

Jabi didn’t dare to look straight at all. He lowered his head so that he could barely see in front of him and crashed right through waves of people. It was only then that the crowd standing in their way finally scattered a little.

The car had to speed through Dirt Street for around a minute before they finally managed to make their way out. Qin Yu took a look at the hundreds of people who were still chasing them as he wiped off the sweat from his face and remarked, “If we don’t put some reins over this place, who knows what will become of Songjiang in the near future?”

Pah!

Right after saying those words, Qin Yu suddenly heard a crisp echo on his head, followed by a surge of pain.

“Good job, brother!” Zhu Wei exclaimed after hitting Qin Yu. “You are a true man. That feint was pulled off beautifully!”

Qin Yu glanced at him with a frown before falling silent.

Ten at night, in the Police Bureau’s working space.

After stitching his injured palm over at the infirmary, he headed straight for the interrogation room.

Ma Lao-er was seated lackadaisically on the ground as he looked at Qin Yu with a side glance, “You have gotten yourself into deep shit. In less than three hours…”

Peng!

Qin Yu raised his leg and kicked Ma Lao-er’s head violently.

“Fuck!”

With the back of his head hitting the wall, Ma Lao-er felt like he could see a string of stars spinning around him.

“Five hundred people isn’t enough for you, huh?”

Peng!

“You’re untouchable in Dirt Street, is it?”

Peng!

“So what if you’re the boss?”

Peng peng peng!

Qin Yu cursed as he kicked Ma Lao-er’s head a couple more times. By the end of it, the latter had already passed out on the ground. Blood was streaming down his nose, and his body was convulsing violently.

“Bring some iced water now to chill out the hot-bloodedness of our Brother Ma over here!” Qin Yu turned around and ordered one of the squad members.

The squad member didn’t stand on ceremony either. He went to the washroom to get a pail of dirtied water with ice bits in them. Huala! It was poured all over Ma Lao-er’s head.

In less than half a minute, Ma Lao-er regained his consciousness.

Stepping on Ma Lao-er’s thigh, he gazed down at the latter and bellowed, “You like to see frog leaps that much, eh?”

At this moment, Ma Lao-er was already looking at Qin Yu with eyes filled with fear. He didn’t dare to put on a tough front anymore.

“Kneel down!” Qin Yu ordered.

Ma Lao-er shuddered as he subconsciously retreated a little.

“I told you to kneel!” Qin Yu pointed to the ground as he bellowed with glaring eyes.

Ma Lao-er was dumbfounded. He spoke with a stutter,” D-don’t make things look so ugly, alright?”

Qin Yu immediately raised his right leg.

Pudong!

Before the leg could strike Ma Lao-er’s head, the latter had already kneeled down on the floor.

“I want you to do frog leaps in a kneeling position. Until I’m satisfied, you aren’t to stop. Stop once, and I’ll kick you once!” Qin Yu said as he grabbed Ma Lao-er’s hair and emphasized every word clearly, “Do you hear me?”

Two minutes later, Ma Lao-er gritted his teeth and began frog leaping within the room in a kneeling position, “Damn it, a real man knows how to bend when he needs to… I’ll remember this…”

Outside the interrogation room.

“Are we staying overnight to interrogate him?” Qi Lin asked.

“Nah, we shouldn’t lose any sleep over this,” Qin Yu shook his head as he replied. “Give him a night to think it through first. Tomorrow morning, we’ll interrogate the two smaller ones first to get some evidence first. Be it Ma Lao-er or that Third Uncle, they won’t spit out anything easily. It’s obvious that they are veterans in the business.”

“Got it,” Qi Lin nodded. “Are you returning to your newly-rented house? Shall I walk you over?”

“No need, I’m staying here tonight,” Qin Yu shook his head. “I’ll just take a wink then get to work tomorrow morning.”

“Alright.”

After chatting for a bit more, Qin Yu headed off to the washroom.
