Special District 9

Chapter 70: The Road Back

“Where else? I shared a room with the boss for the night,” Old Cat spat with gritted teeth. “That woman is too vicious. If she wasn’t interested in me, why did she strip me clean then?”

“A person like you should have a taste of his own medicine.” Qin Yu burst into laughter. “It’s obvious what would happen even if you think with your ass. Who do you think she is? She’s the daughter of a major company! Besides, given her wits, do you think that she would get in a relationship with anyone? Is that realistic?”

“I thought that she was dropping me a hint!” Old Cat replied with shifty eyes. “I thought that this would be a story of firewoods and a spark… Do you even get what I’m saying?”

“You didn’t think that it would actually be the story of a tadpole and the cold wind, right?” Qi Lin interjected.

“Hey, you’re being too much! What do you mean by that? Can we still have this meal in peace?!” Old Cat lost his cool.

“Hahaha!”

Qi Lin and Qin Yu exploded into laughter as they raised their thumbs up toward Old Cat as a show of respect.

The three of them finished their breakfast amidst laughter, and it was around this time that Coco came out with a refreshed look on her face.

Upon seeing her, Old Cat immediately gnashed his teeth together as he asked, “You’re early, huh?”

“Morning,” Coco greeted everyone with a smile. Then, she turned to Old Cat and said, “You must have quite a good body. You didn’t catch a cold even with this freezing weather.”

“I don’t want to talk to you. I’ll go smoke outside,” Old Cat harrumphed as he began walking out.

“Heh!” Coco chuckled. “I got the boss to clean your clothes for you. Don’t worry, I footed the bill.”

Old Cat was taken aback for a moment before muttering, “Looks like you aren’t utterly inhumane yet.”

After that, Coco turned to Qin Yu and said, “I’ll be taking Li Tong away with me today.”

“Un. We have received the goods, so we’ll be returning as well.” As Qin Yu spoke, he stretched his hand forward. “Let’s keep in contact.”

Coco reached out to shake Qin Yu’s hand as she said seriously, “We gave you a low price so that you can snatch the market over. I hope that you can do it properly so that we can all profit from this business.”

“Definitely!”

“Let’s not waste time on useless words then. I wish you a safe journey.”

“Thanks,” Qin Yu smiled. “I’ll walk you out.”

“Oh, right.”

Coco had just walked to the entrance when she suddenly struck her forehead and muttered, “How could I have forgotten about it? Nicholson, come over.”

A brawny man walked over from a distance away, carrying a few bags of items with him.

Coco passed the items over before she told Qi Lin, “There’s some money, medicine for the old lady, and clothes for your younger sister. Do accept them.”

Qi Lin stared at Coco with a surprised look on his face, “T-this is…?”

“What happened to Ah Long at Songjiang was really regrettable. I have only met him a few times, but he has indeed done a lot for us. Furthermore, he didn’t betray us even at the cost of his life, so I’m very grateful to him,” Coco replied politely. “This is just a small token of my appreciation.”

Qi Lin was stunned for a long while as he felt deeply moved inside. “My big brother has been in the underworld for many years now, and he always told me that he has made many friends… But when something happened to him, you’re the only one who thought of him and recalled that he has a family. Thank you for your concern.”

“There’s no need for that,” Coco said. With a bright smile, she said, “Alright, we’ll be leaving now.”

“I’ll walk you out.”

Around ten minutes later, Qin Yu, Old Cat, and Qi Lin watched as Coco’s team left the hostel.

“That lady is really extraordinary,” Old Cat remarked deeply. “She’s intelligent, but at the same time, she’s highly conscientious too. Who would have thought that she would have brought things for Qi Lin too?”

“It’s really amazing,” Qin Yu nodded in agreement.

“Did you notice it?” Qi Lin turned to Old Cat and said softly. “Li Tong has quite a backbone, but did you see the expression he had on his face when he saw Coco in the car?”

“What kind of expression did he have?”

“It was as if he was looking at a butcher chasing him with a chopper,” Qi Lin exclaimed. “There was terror in his eyes. It couldn’t be concealed at all.”

“That means that she has another side to her that we aren’t familiar with, huh?” Old Cat uttered contemplatively.

“There’s no need to think too deeply into that. In any case, we’re on good terms at the moment,” Qin Yu smacked Old Cat’s shoulder as he spoke. “Don’t you agree, bro?”

“I don’t think that I’m on very good terms with her at the moment…”

“Hahaha!” Qin Yu laughed. “Let’s start packing our stuff. It’s time for us to return back to Songjiang.”

In the afternoon.

Qin Yu paid the boss some money, and it took around two hours before the latter returned with a few barrels of petrol. At the same time, he also procured some bullets and other stuff.

When everything was finally in place, the three brothers began making their way back to the city. It was the same road they were driving on when they came over, but the mood was completely different. They had come with trepidation and uneasiness, but they were now leaving with joy and expectations for a brighter future.

In this trip to Jiangzhou, they risked their lives to obtain the medicine route, and this would become the foundation they needed to rise through the ranks in Songjiang.

Nighttime, in one of the offices of Jiangzhou’s Yu Family.

Coco sat on a sofa, sipping on the lemon tea that she had brewed herself as she looked at Li Tong and asked, “Have you thought of what would happen after killing my man?”

Li Tong feigned composure as he replied with a crooked smile, “You don’t dare to touch me. If we fall out with one another at this point, you won’t get off easily either.”

“You seem awfully confident?” Coco asked as she placed her teacup down.

“I’ll admit my defeat for this matter. I won’t do anything or say anything from this point onward. I’ll just wait for my family to liaise with you.” Li Tong knew very well that his father and uncle must be communicating with the Yu Family about this matter by now.

“You are quite arrogant, aren’t you?” Coco asked with a smiling face. “You aren’t going to express the slightest regret over killing Kang-ge at all?”

“You’re acting as if it’s a big deal. Competition has always been intense in the streets. Isn’t it normal for people to die everyday?” Li Tong replied calmly.

With a slight chuckle, Coco stood up, she walked up to Li Tong slowly and leaned in, asking, “Are you really not afraid of me, or are you putting on a brave front here?”

Li Tong discreetly clenched his fists tightly together as he said, “I’m not just any lad off the street. I have the Li Family behind me.”

“I see.” Coco nodded her head. She turned around and called out, “Nicholson.”

The door opened, and a brawny man dressed in a black T-shirt shouted in response, “Boss!”

“Teach Young Master Li over here the proper way to talk to me.” Coco threw behind these words before walking out of the room.

Nicholson nonchalantly raised his gun and pointed it toward Li Tong’s knees.

“Coco, you can’t do this… You are offending the whole Li Family over here!”

Bang bang!

Two gunshots echoed, and Li Tong’s both kneecaps were crushed by a bullet each.

“AHHHH!”

Li Tong’s back arched backward from the sheer pain of the gunshot, such that the entire chair flipped over.

Coco turned around and spoke with a frosty tone, “You are just a member of the side family in the Li Family, don’t act as if you’re anything more than that. Fall out? Do you think you are worth the Li Family falling out with us at this juncture? Bring him to Kang-ge altar! Have him kneel there for a night!”

“Yes!” Nicholson nodded.

An hour later, the big brother of the Yu Family called over and spoke grudgingly, “Coco… Why did you deal with Li Tong? We have just finished negotiating with them!”
