Speed Is King

Chapter 115 - Forbidden Box

The first item was a simple Epic-grade skill book [Summon Cerberus]. And because it was in the form of a book, it could be used multiple times. Five times, to be exact.

Elliot immediately learnt it, and stored the book in his dimensional storage. He planned to allow his sisters to read it later on. The other two times he would save for a suitable player or Apostle to learn.

[Level 1 Summon Cerberus - Active skill which allows you to summon and control a temporary Epic Cerberus.]

It wasn't the best skill, and it wasn't even as good as his legendary grade [Summon Giant Armored Mammoth] skill, but it was better than all of his other summons. In fact, as an Epic grade skill, it would have cost him 60 points to purchase from the System's shop, so Elliot was quite pleased.

The second item was a beautiful golden ring with a dazzlingly colourful gem on it. [Left Eye of the Elemental Heretic] - Grants wearer 40% increased resistance against all 12 Elements.

It was simple, straightforward, and extremely useful. The forty percent increased resistance added to his beast forms' natural resistances would make him nearly impervious to certain elements.

In White Dragon Warrior Beast form, he would be almost immune to cold-based attacks. In his new Flame Wolf form, he would be almost immune to fire-based attacks too.

Like the first item, it wasn't the best item, nor was it a game-breaking item, but Elliot was still extremely pleased to have it.

The final item was a source of great surprise to Elliot.

It was the [Forbidden Box] which was sold in the Store for stupidly unreachable 5000 points. The fact that he got it through the Gigantic Mystery Box simply meant that he had saved on five hundred levels worth of points which he otherwise would have to spend if he wanted to buy the [Forbidden Box] manually!

"Interesting. With my insane luck, it really is the most cost efficient to just spend all my money on the mystery boxes." Elliot's eyes gleamed with pleasure at the insane loophole he found to break the game. "Just by getting this box alone, I might already gain the power of a level five hundred player! That's Hegemon level!"

He didn't know if the Game Masters factored in ridiculous luck like Elliot's when they assigned the Beast Apostle System a SSS Grade. If they didn't, then Elliot would have raised the Beast Apostle System's power grade by at least another two S with how he's milking it dry with his Gigantic Mystery Box purchases.

"Now Hawk, tell me why this [Forbidden Box] is so expensive." Elliot said.

[The [Forbidden Box] is a Forbidden Grade Item. It is a banned Spiritual Item with the power to create, combine and upgrade items up to the Ancestral Grade. Please keep it safe.]

"Spiritual Item? What are the item grades again?" Elliot asked.

[Item grades are the same with Beast grades. Please be reminded that Beast Grades refer to their rarity while Beast Level refer to their power. The following is the Beast/Item grade list.]

[1. Common]

[2. Uncommon]

[3. Rare]

[4. Epic]

[5. Legendary]

[6. Mythical]

[7. Ancestral]

[8. Spiritual]

[9. Origin]

[10. Prehistoric]

[11. Primeval]

[12. Celestial]

"Monkey? Is that what I think it is?" Jul'Taras stared at the plain, black box the size of a large book which Elliot was holding in his hands.

"Uhhh. What do you think it is?" Monkey King Sun Wu Kong asked Jul'Taras in mock innocence.

"I know one of your affiliate clans got their hands on a Forbidden Box many years ago. They foolishly leaked that information and almost got themselves completely wiped out by the raiders and bandits that came knocking on their doors. But the Forbidden Box was never found. That… couldn't be the Forbidden Box, could it?" Jul'Taras narrowed her eyes and looked sharply at Monkey King.

"Why would you assume that it's the real [Forbidden Box]? It could very well be a [Forbidden Box Replica] with similar powers up to the [Epic] item grade. Any Emperor worth their title could easily craft such an item." Monkey King replied calmly. "Besides, if it is the real thing, it'll be safely stored in the Monkey Clan's Patriarch's vault."

Jul'Taras stared at Monkey King for a few moments with her sixth sense and instincts screaming wildly at her, swearing by their mothers' graves that it was the real thing.

Calmly, she cashed out her million-planet bet on Himari Suzuki for nine hundred thousand, and placed a two million-planet bet on Elliot winning it all.

"Errrr… Jules? What's going on?" Jessica Sands looked at her best friend's screen in shock.

Jul'Taras merely smiled at Jessica and gave Monkey King an "I don't believe you" look.

Monkey King merely shrugged. "Do as you will." His shrug seemed to casually say.

Inwardly though, he was feeling extremely shocked.

The Monkey Clan Patriarch had shrewdly asked him to store the [Forbidden Box] within his Diamond Boon System's massive Item Pool to ensure its safety.

With such a low probability of it appearing in Mystery Boxes, the Patriarch was sure that it would be safer than him keeping it. It was simple math.

The probability of someone actually getting it via Mystery Boxes was much, much smaller than another clan successfully breaking through the Monkey Clan's defenses and raiding its vault.

That way, even if his Monkey Clan got attacked by jealous rival clans and in the worst case scenario, if they managed to break into the Patriarch's vault, they would never acquire the Forbidden Box.

Monkey King had purposely made it unreachable by giving it a 5000-point price tag, and gave it the lowest possible probability of appearing by chance within the Mystery Boxes.

He did not expect to meet an insanely lucky person such as Elliot who would be crazy enough to spend most of his points on Mystery Boxes instead of on skills and other useful items!

"The Patriarch won't be happy. In fact, he'll probably be pissed off." Monkey King thought to himself with a deep sigh.
