Star Wars VRMMO: Galactic Expedition

(Bonus chapter bc I felt like writing more)

Tyler only blocked 8 shots in the 30 minutes he was training with the two droids. This was statistically worse than his previous go with one droid. In addition, he was hit by 4 shots.

He was starting to feel out of breath again so he sat down to meditate.

Suddenly, the doors to the council chambers slid open. Behind it revealed a Chiss player.

Xander, 8 years, Civilian

Level 2

'I was not expecting any other players to reach here so quickly. This should be interesting. On the bright side, hopefully we can learn together.'

Xander gave Tyler a good look. A fire ignited in his eyes and it looked as if he found a rival.

Tyler remained seated and watched as Xander went through the same dialogue and initial training that he did. Then he reached the training droid.

It was at this moment that he decided to conclude his meditation and resume training.

The two players stepped up to the plate at the same time. The first bolt that came out startles Xander. He swung his saber and missed it. He got a shock for his failure. On the other hand, Tyler perfectly deflected the shot back into the droid.

Windu turned to Yoda and communicated with a facial expression. Yoda nodded and smiled.

After they sat down, Windu spoke up. "I would like for the two of you to have a spar. This will be a friendly match that will be of great benefit to the both of you."

*Description: The Jedi Council has determined that you and another player make for great rivals. Spar with your lightsabers and impress the council.*

*Reward: Winner gets 900 EXP and Loser gets 500 EXP*

When this popped up, the two players looked at each other and the flames of competition lit up in their eyes. This quest really is great. Win or lose, they will both get a good amount of EXP.

Tyler needed to win this spar. The amount of EXP for winning is exactly the amount he needs to reach level 3. He couldn't afford to let this chance slip.

After a few minutes more of meditation, the two arose from the ground and stood opposite each other in the council chambers.

Windu nodded. "Bow to each other and then you may begin."

They started by circling each other around the perimeter of the chambers. As if they reached an agreement, the two dashed in at each other.

Almost immediately, Tyler noticed that Xander was slower than him. The force screamed out a warning as their lightsabers swung to meet each other.

Tyler quickly adjusted his saber's angle to redirect rather than block. His intuition proved right. As Xander's saber came into contact, Tyler felt an overwhelming force behind the strike.

It became obvious that Xander had poured most of his points into strength. 'If I can't win head on, then let's make this a battle of speed.'

Making use of his advantage in speed, Tyler began to launch quick strikes at Xander as he circled around him. Each time Xander would attempt to counter attack, Tyler would dodge the strike and occasionally redirect it.

Growing visibly frustrated, Xander went all in on a strike. He made a powerful swing downwards.

Seeing through the strike, Tyler sidestepped it and used his foot to sweep out Xander's legs from underneath him. Xander landed on his back and Tyler pointed his saber at his neck.

"Well done! Very impressive both of you. Although Tyler has won the spar, you have both gained valuable insight into lightsaber combat."

'Awww yeah. Level 3 baby.'

Tyler immediately put 2 points into dexterity and 3 into stamina. As he did this, he felt his body loosen up a bit and also felt energized. He will continue putting points into stamina for the next few levels so he could train for longer periods of time.

The two padawans continued the cycle of training with the droids and sparring each other. It turns out that Xander also leveled up from the sparring quest. They did so until the Evening.

As they finished their last spar and sat down to meditate, both of their stomachs rumbled loudly in unison. They made eye contact and laughed. Neither of them would have guessed that you actually get hungry in this game.

Windu stood up and walked over to the two players. "You two will stay in the temple for now. Arrangements have been made for the both of you. That is it for today. I recommend exploring the temple to get accustomed to the layout. You will spend a lot of time here in the future. May the force be with you young padawans."

Xander and Tyler bowed to Master Windu and said in unison, "Thank you Master."

The two turned and walked out of the chambers. They entered the elevator and pressed the buŧŧon that would bring them to the floor they would be staying on.

For a few seconds, there was awkward silence.

Xander coughed and turned to Tyler. "So, Draco… Looks like it is just the two of us here for now."

Tyler laughed and said, "Seems like it. I was thinking of going to the archives after I check out my room. Would you like to join me?"

Xander nodded and sent Tyler a friend request. Tyler accepted it quickly. The elevator arrived on their floor so they both stepped out. The two then went to their rooms, and then met back up at the elevator.

They entered again and went to the floor that contains the archives. They entered the area and walked up to the front desk.

"Hello padawans. My name is Jocasta Nu and I am the librarian here. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Tyler smiled and said, "Hello Master Nu. We are looking for the star charts. It would be of great help to us if we could study them."

Jocasta nodded. "They are right behind me. You can access them using the consoles. If you need anything else, just come and see me. I'd be happy to help."

Tyler and Xander walked over to the archive consoles and sat down. They wasted no time as they navigated to the star charts.

Tyler immediately opened his map and zoomed out a few levels to view the whole galaxy. His map was now huge! Even though he hasn't been to any system other than Naboo and Coruscant, he now has information on every known system in the galaxy. Fortunately, he will still be able to gain the EXP from visiting new places.

Since they don't need to use the archives to view a star chart anymore, they both shut down their consoles and left the archives to get some dinner.

They went to the mess hall. The food was nothing special but it was definitely healthy. It would help their bodies grow. It started to seem that leading a healthy lifestyle in this game is somehow beneficial.

To verify this, Xander and Tyler decided to try sleeping. To their surprise, they were prompted with a menu when they laid down into the bed. It allowed them to enter a sleep state for a set amount of time. It was basically a time skip.

The time was now 10PM. The two exchanged a few messages and decided to wake up together at 6AM and start some early training.

Another two in game days passed. At the end of the day, both Tyler and Xander were level 5. Tyler's stats now looked like this:

Tyler decided that he would log out for a bit so that he could eat some food and exercise. Laying in bed for extended periods of time is definitely not good for his body.

He got out of bed and did some basic exercises. Following that, he grabbed a protein shake from the fridge and some leftovers to reheat.

After eating and drinking the shake, he went for a 4 mile run. Following this, he took a shower and then laid back down in bed to log in.

When he logged back in, it was morning. He got out of his bed and met Xander in the mess hall. They shared some breakfast. While they were eating, a guard approached them.

"The council has requested your presence. Please head to the chambers after your meal."

The guard then walked away. The two of them were going to head there anyways so it wasn't a big deal.

After breakfast, they headed up to the council chambers. When they entered the room, they both got a notification.

'Oh my. If the reward for completing this quest wasn't so good, I would be so mad.'

Tyler looked over at Xander and they stared at each other. They had an entire conversation just with their eyes.

Yoda then hit the floor with his cane a few times. "Gather round padawans. Choose you today, your master will. Great wisdom, gain it through experience. You all may come in now."

Tyler took a quick look around the room. He noticed that there were several new faces. They were all currently level 4 or lower. They must have just arrived from their starter planet. However, that means there are most likely several people becoming Sith Acolytes.

The door to the chambers opened and several jedi masters entered the room. There were about 12 jedi that would be choosing padawans. Unfortunately, only 2 players were available for choosing.

After a few minutes, their masters were ȧssigned. Tyler would be training under Kit Fisto and Xander would be training under Plo Koon.

Kit Fisto stood in front of Tyler. "Hello Tyler. Today, we are going to focus on some secondary skills that you need to be successful as a Jedi. Let's head to the archives."

"Yes master." The two of them then took the elevator down to the archives.

Once they got there, Kit Fisto led Tyler over to a console. They sat down next to each other and then Kit Fisto started his explanation.

"Aside from a jedi's combat prowess, there are various other skills that are required for you to be successful. The most critical of these skills is piloting. Other skills that are useful include engineering and medicine. I recommend taking on at least piloting and engineering to start with. They are difficult but are critically important. You are free to take on as many skills as you want but make sure you understand that it will take a long time to improve those skills."

Without hesitation, Tyler selected Pilot, Engineer, and Marksman. Despite them all being high in difficulty, they are all essential skills for what he wants to accomplish.

His current plan is to finish the chain quest, start a guild, and then explore to improve his skills. Although it is simple sounding enough, he planned to figure things out as he went.

Kit Fisto nodded. "Those are some great choices. It is not common that a jedi chooses to work on his marksman skills. What is your thought process behind it?"

Tyler grinned and said, "Firstly, blasters are really cool. More importantly though, it would be disadvantageous to have limited options when it comes to ranged combat. Having a blaster would allow me to have more options when confronting opponents."

Kit Fisto laughed. "That is just wonderful. I like how you think ahead. If this is any form of a hint, you are probably the smartest padawan I've had! I'll do you a favor then. If you are going to practice marksmanship, you will need some blasters. I will procure a pistol, rifle, and sniper for you to help with your training. Don't let me down kid!"

Tyler's eyes lit up. Who knew that interactions with NPCs could yield rewards. It would seem that he needs to put more points into charisma.

"Thank you master. That would be very helpful."

"Anything to help my padawan! I'll have them delivered to your quarters."

"That is good to hear, master. What shall we do next?" Tyler was curious.

Kit Fisto nodded. "For the remainder of the day, you will be training in the flight simulator. Tomorrow, we will be heading out to another system so you need to develop your piloting skills."

The duo then left the archives and went to grab some lunch. Following that, they headed over to the flight simulators.

As they were walking, Tyler checked on his professions. They were all at the beginner rank with 0% progress. Once they arrived, Tyler turned to his master. "Master Fisto, is anyone able to use the flight simulators and fly spacecrafts?"

Kit Fisto shook his head. "Only those who are developing their skills as a pilot can fly."

'Alright. That answers that question. It seems as if I will need to recruit a lot of pilots for my guild.'

It was now 2PM. Tyler spent the next 6 hours in the flight simulator. While he was training, Tyler quickly gained progress for piloting. He also slowly gained progress for engineering. He was now a Novice Pilot with 2% progress and a Beginner Engineer with 24% progress.

Tyler headed to bed. It was important to get some rest before the ȧssignment tomorrow. But first, he checked out his stats.

Two days went by. Currently, Tyler and Kit Fisto were on a short ȧssignment. They were on Tatooine hunting a small group of bandits that stole goods from a republic transport.

Inside a cantina, there was a firefight occurring. The bandits were shooting at Kit Fisto and Tyler. This was the finale of a chain quest that they were completing.

After a few minutes, it was down to just two bandits. Master and Padawan popped up from behind their cover. Almost immediately, the two bandits fired their blasters at the jedi duo.

They both slightly moved their lightsabers and reflected the shot back at the bandits, killing them both.
