252 Obtaining proof of what occurred

“Money moves mountains, they say. Regrettably, unless both of you know a noble who can help go against the Blackheart family, I don’t think you will be able to live a peaceful life in Lusterfall City for a long time. You might better pack your things and leave in less than a day of entering the city.”

“I know it sounds drastic or crazy, but you have to remember one thing. Everyone gets to live only once. Thus it’s better to choose a happy life instead of a regretful one.”

“Deciding to leave it to fate and see how it goes or pack your thing in a hurry and go. You are the one who has to decide since it’s your life.” Vincent ended his suggestion.

[I agree with your thinking. Furthermore, Demel Blackheart would discover how something went wrong with his disgusting plan to make money. Telling these girls to leave by mentioning a possible future is the best way to go for both them and us.]

“Is... is it really going to be like that?” Eliara asked with a tear in her eyes. She appeared distraught by this abrupt decision. They were living an ordinary life before taking the fake quest. Now they could potentially be in danger.

Maid Xu nodded and answered, “Sir Vincent might be right. Also, my lady must be hidden somewhere in the mansion.”

“Sir Vincent asked a private guard and confirmed what we heard the guards say before we fell asleep from the drugged soup. This was a false quest with the intention to sell the adventurer’s equipment and any female adventurer as a slave. I was also their target after they took into consideration how I would do anything to find my lady, even if I left the mansion and joined the fake rescue party.”

[Heh... what a rookie. I have accurately redrawn the digrams in my mind and also fixed the places where we passed through. I can safely say that there is one or maybe two hidden rooms.]

Vincent smirked and informed Maid Xu of Kazumi’s words... without the rookie part.

.....

Maid Xu stared at Vincent for some time. She held both of her shoulders tightly and shivered at the thought of her lady being confined in a hidden dungeon she never knew about in the ten years she lived there.

Maid Xu never had the slightest idea Viscount Demel Blackheart was involved in the illegal slave trade and bandit-like murder. He kept everything a secret, even to those that lived in the same mansion.

Maid Xu felt like her past ten years in a nightmare could have been worse than they were. She shuddered at the thought of the private guards doing something to her or Lilith for ten years. Somehow she appreciated Demel Blackheart for keeping his wife as an untouchable trophy.

Maid Xu never knew Viscount Demel Blackheart was involved in the illegal slave trade business and used bandit-like murder methods like the one she was about to suffer from to make undocumented money.

Even if Demel Blackheart poisoned his wife with a potent curse, Maid Xu didn’t think he was worse than a thug.

After the first year, Maid Xu tried her hardest not to tell her lady about the nasty rumors people were saying about her family.
Maid Xu heard how her lady’s father was denouncing the slanderous rumors, but as the months passed, she kept hearing how Leonis Lionheart had a new strange nickname about being a truthful lion.

Maid Xu started to worry it was all true because Leonis Lionheart never made any drastic announcement or fought back as the Lionheart’s fortune and nobility status gradually fell. On the other hand, the main branch of the Blackheart family was mysteriously growing. Later they became a Marques rank family.

Maid Xu even heard a rumor about how Viscount Demel Blackheart was going to become a Count this year.

“Trust me when I say this. The man who planned all this is too strong to fight against. Additionally, he most probably has too many eyes around the city to stay hidden.” Maid Xu tried to keep the two women alive and away from the clutches of Viscount Demel Blackheart.

“So it means we can’t stay in this city too?” Eliara said with a tear in her eyes.

“Great, first a noble in Berlucia Kingdom main city harassing us to become his wives because he liked twins... and now this! We aren’t even twins! We are half-sisters of the same father and twin mothers.” Fliara said.

Fliara became angry because of their predicament, unlike her sister. Additionally, she mentioned how even if they look so similar to be considered twins, they are half-sisters from different mothers instead.

[Thats interesting. Ohh, look! Lupa is back, and she is pulling five horses. Iris, Olive, and Lian are riding one together with a smile.]

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

“I will let you gals talk while I check on the others. Don’t worry. We will return your equipment later.” Vincent said before he turned around and headed for Lupa and the tree demigoblins riding one horse together as if it was a joy ride. At least Iris didn’t have a sad expression on her face with what happened.

“Welcome back. How did everything thing go?” Vincent asked.

“The horses are so afraid of me that they listen to my commands after I reveal my small fangs, hehe. Sister Iris and the two green cubs didn’t lose balance because of my great instructions.” Lupa boasted happily. Her covered wolf tail wagged under her skirt.

Vincent noticed Lupa cheekily lowering her head. He smirked and gave her a head pat. Then he approached the horses with the three demigoblins on them.

“Aww... I want to ride more. Horsies are the best.” Lian cheerfully complained about having a short horse ride.

“Thank you, furry big sister, Lupa. I had much fun.” Olive politely thanked with a smile. She acted more mature than the hyper cheerful Lian.

Vincent raised his hands and helped the two demigoblin get off the horse. The moment Lian’s feet touched the ground, he ran towards Ester. Olive made a cute frown and ran after him.

“Thankfully, you don’t look as sad as I thought. It’s great, but how do you feel? They were your people, after all.” Vincent asked.

Iris didn’t reply. She extended her hands and waited for Vincent to help her get down. The moment her feet touched the ground, she embraced Vincent and placed her face against his chest. She tilted her head not to hurt him with her pointy horn.

“You named the two rascals who liked to follow me and get in trouble for leaving without a word. Olive and Lian are nice names. I became relieved to see them alive and healthy. Thank you.”

“The two children told me how those who stayed here might have been planning to stay here until it was their time to return to the earth.”

“Most of them were old. Others were without children or had a loved one returned to the earth and felt like they lived a lot. ”

“My father once told me how difficult it is to lead the goblin tribe whenever we relocate to a new place. Every time we are forced to change our home, some decide to stay and spend a few days.”

“They would ponder if they want to return to the earth in a familiar place or decide to give life another chance. If so, then they would follow the path to the first mark the main tribe leaves and keep finding the marks until they arrive.”

“Generations ago, the goddess... Kazumi taught us to use codes. Sometimes a left arrow would mean walk forward or other times. It would mean go right. Many goblins joined us a month or two later with this method.”

[Hehe. I was awesome, even if I don’t remember. You should be thankful for all the support I have given you thus far.]

-Who knows? Maybe you were more intelligent than now?-

[Why you!...]

Iris embraced Vincent tighter and slowly rubbed her head.

“It’s sad, but unlike Olive and Lian, the goblins here were at peace with the idea to return to the earth. Maybe one or two would help the two rascals meet with the main tribe and come back here.”

“Thank you, Vincent. I love you.” Iris said in a low yet hearable voice. Iris stopped her embrace and quickly took a step back.

Vincent saw her bright red cheeks of a moment she swiftly paced towards Ester.

[Ohh, my. It seems Lupa is eager to find out what is in the bags.]

Vincent went over to Lupa and helped her remove the large bags from the guard’s three horses.

Later, Vincent called out Fliara, Eliara, and Maid Xu to take back their stolen belongings. The rest of the items and equipment were going to be his spoils of victory.

However, Vincent didn’t become a man without a conscience. He decided to do two things.

The first was to use the adventurer’s sentimental personal belongings as proof of the fake quest. “Proof is always the best thing in any situation.” he thought.

The second plan was to give the sentimental personal belongings to the adventurers guild and ask to be passed down to the deceased relatives. Fliara and Eliara informed how they could make a report and cause a lot of trouble if the claim was valid.

With the two half-sisters willing to make a report, Vincent told them to mention how the adventurer’s graves were in Aero Forest instead of Rumput Forest. Vincent didn’t want this location in Rumput Forest to be found so soon.
