388 The lesson is harder than expected for most students

Nick looked around, and a frown appeared on his face. “Is it me, or does it look like everyone is going to be late for teacher Biro’s class?” He said after noticing a couple of students in the hall who wasn’t even their classmates.

Vincent summoned his watch, and his eyes opened wide. The time taken to teleport was different. Only thirty minutes had passed. They teleported half the time of the previous use.

“Vincent, I something wrong? And... what is that strange object in your hand?” Nick curiously asked.

“This is a special heirloom that tells time. It took one hour to teleport four people, but thirty minutes to teleport two. Doesn’t it mean each person takes fifteen minutes each to teleport?” Vincent showed Nick the watch and pointed at the time.

[Wait a second. Doesn’t this mean we are half an hour earlier than expected? Lilith and Clair are going to arrive earlier too.]

-Good thing I checked the time.-

[Yeah, Lilith might have suffered a panic attack since Clair looks like she also needs someone to depend on.]

Vincent and Nick didn’t have much to do, so they decided to look around. They found a beautiful garden. It had dozens of benches to sit on. There were already a handful of benches taken by students who appeared to be couples.

Nick had a sour expression on his face as he followed Vincent.

.....

A stylish and quaint stone building was at the edge of the vast park-like garden. The door was closed, but the building Vincent and Kazumi were searching for was in front of them. This building was the library.

After Kazumi updated her memory map, Vincent looked at the time. They decided to continue looking around as there was enough time to explore around the academy.

Later, they followed the directions placed at the middle of every floor and arrived at a large door with a long wooden board above it. It had the word mailroom carved on it. However, because the mailroom was on the opposite side of Biro’s outdoor class, they had to leave not to arrive late.

Vincent and Nick arrived, and an uproar was the first thing welcoming them. Ten students were complaining to Biro, Ton, and Ollie about something. As Vincent and Nick approached, they understood how the reason for their complaints stemmed from Maria’s lack of explanation.

“My friends still haven’t arrived. What happened to them?”

“What is wrong with the time? How did it become so late?”

Their classmates asked angrily.

“Yeah, my parents didn’t tell me about this delay... so I... I... I! came here early just to see students kissing.” A student said angrily.
However, he didn’t think that the uproar would abruptly stop. A momentary awkward silence fell on the training ground. The student changed his salty expression to an embarrassed one when everyone stared at him.

*Cough* “Your complaints are valid first-year students.” Ton broke the awkward mood by agreeing with the students.

“As the student count increases every year most of the time, the headmaster had to put a lot of restrictions in these last few years. But... it seems teacher Maria is at it again.” *Sigh* Ton shook his head. It appeared this wasn’t the first time he encountered a troublesome situation because of Maria.

“It appears teacher Maria didn’t inform the students of Class A about how each student can use the teleport command three times per day with a max of five people on every use. Also, each teleport will take fifteen minutes because of the restriction. However, that restriction is not in effect for familiars. They do not add to the user count or timer count.” Ton explained.

The students understood the situation now. Ton was like a lifesaver to most of the ten students in front of him.

[So that’s why Ester, Lupa, Iris, Plow, and Zero arrived at the same time as Vivid and Pussy. Lupa, Plow, and Zero are registered as familiars. The three of them will have no timer or use increase.]

Kazumi understood how the delay was intentional rather than a technological limit. It was done to conserve as much fuel as possible and keep the device’s cost almost the same every year.

It made Kazumi think that the fuel the teleportation device used was decreasing or it was being monopolized. Both thoughts were plausible.

“Don’t worry about being late today then, haha.” Biro understood the situation. “I will not punish any late arrival with five laps around the track.”

Duke Biro Hawkins left teacher Ton in charge most of the time. He stopped working as a teacher many years ago after becoming disappointed with the quality of students and because of other personal reasons.

This year, Biro’s youngest granddaughter awakened the Mage Class.

Biro felt he was cursed because of his father. His children were all daughters, and his grandchildren were also girls. To make it worse, he is the only son of the Hawkins family, and none of his descendants awakened a warrior class because a noblewoman with a Warrior Class isn’t well received.

The Hawkins family was proud to have the best Paladins in every generation, but now it was over. Biro was too depressed and discouraged even to try training the only young male niece of the Hawkins family.

However, the mysterious appearance of a bandaged man with the identity of the Heavenly God Mantis Sect caught his interest. As he followed Vincent’s whereabouts, he discovered Ollie.

Furthermore, because guild leader Gevan had a great interest in Ollie’s future as an adventurer, a spark lit Biro’s determination ablaze. As such, Ollie became his student with a condition.

“Become my student, and I will lead you to the road of advancement. However, Oliveros, I will be teaching you family secrets. As such, you must marry one of my daughters or granddaughters.” Biro had decided in front of Gevan to impart all his family knowledge at the cost of becoming a part of his family.

Guild leader Gevan was too shocked at the time to deter Ollie from joining the Hawkins family by marriage.

Ollie didn’t hesitate and responded, “I don’t care about becoming a noble. I only want to protect my family. I want strength that can turn me into a pillar my family can hide behind.”

The response was better than Biro expected. Later, Ollie was engaged to one of Biro’s granddaughters. Fortunately, the noblewoman Ollie was engaged to liked muscle men. She ignored that he was a commoner with elf’s blood in his veins and fell in love at first sight.

*Present Time*

“Okay, students. Now, with that problem is considered solved. Let’s start with some exercises.” Biro said. He pointed at the track and said, “All of you were taught by great teachers at a young age, so go and run one lap with Energy Flow activated on your body. ”

“What?” Half of the students responded.

Ollie approached Vincent. “Want to do a few laps with Energy Flow? Ton promised me to teach us about Energy Flow Control personally.” He asked for a race.

“Okay. You are on.” Vincent agreed without hesitation.

Nick felt left out, but he knew his power was nothing compared to Vincent. After he saw Vincent play with Melissa’s Fire Ball, he knew Vincent was beyond his reach.

Nick went with the other students and looked at Vincent go.

Soon, Vincent and Ollie stood beside each other on the running track. Ton stood near them as a referee.

“Vincent, that is enough. Ollie, raise the intensity up by a little bit more.” Ton judged the mana collecting around Vincent and Ollie.

Energy Flow used two of the body adaptions which were rejected and gather to block and collect mana around their body like an invisible heavy coat. Only an Energy Flow expert could feel Energy Flow being used.

Shortly, Vincent and Ollie started running. However, without using Overheat, Vincent was no competition to Ollie.

“Hehe. Look at him run without his cheat ability.”

“Yeah, look how slow he is running compared to that buffed dude.”

“It would’ve been nice if the girls were around. My crush blushed, looking at him act like a hero, but now they would laugh at him.”

Biro saw Vincent and Ollie run. The comments said by the students behind him started to tick him off. He turned around and said, “Run two laps with Energy Flow of any pressure percentage active.” *Clap* “Come on. What are you waiting for.”

The students grumbled a handful of complaints and joined Vincent and Ollie on the running track.

Two laps later, ten students and Nick sat on the grass with their muscles already feeling sore. However, Vincent and Ollie were still running, and their pace was at the same speed as before.

“You see now, little boys? You mock others but look at you now. He is still running with the Energy Flow Control teacher Ton set for him.” Biro smirked at the students and continued, “What if he used the cheat ability to run faster? Nothing would happen other than making it clear that he is far better than you all.”

“Vincent qualified to spend half of the lesson with you lot and the other half with Ton or me learning advanced lessons.” Biro’s words were like a sharp needle poking their heart.

‘Can I reach your level one day, my friend?...’ Nick thought while watching Vincent run.

Vincent and Ollie ran the fifth lap and stopped. Both of them rested on the ground and breathed heavily. Regardless of their winded condition, the two of them had a smile on their face.

“The two of you can rest for now. Come and find me half an hour later.” Ton said while looking at the large boulder used for training. “I will show the two of you how to use Force Shock. ”
